Chapter 298
Chapter 298
The two months of summer vacation passed by in a flash.Rong Yu was admitted early to Huaqing University. Ji Jingchuan, with his excellent result as the top scorer in Haicheng's college entrance examination, was admitted to Jingbei University. Ji Zhouye's grades were a bit worse, but he still managed to get into a regular first-tier university in the capital.
Early on the morning of September 1st, after finishing breakfast, they prepared to head to their schools for registration.
"Why isn't that brat Ah Ye here yet?" Old Master Ji glanced at his wristwatch. "We agreed to leave at 8:30 AM, and it's already 8:35. Forget it, let's not wait for him. It's not like they are going to the same school anyway."
As soon as he finished speaking, a car pulled up to the gate.
Ji Zhouye pushed the door open, stepped out, and ran into the courtyard dragging his suitcase. "Thank goodness, I'm not too late!"
Rong Yu looked at him.
The boy had dark circles under his eyes, messy hair, and a piece of gauze stuck to his forehead. He looked completely disheveled. She frowned and asked, "What happened to your head?"
Ji Zhouye looked nonchalant. "Last night I went to watch my goddess Yaoyao's live competition and got hit by a falling light fixture. It's just a minor injury, nothing serious. I just stayed up all night without sleeping, so I'm a bit tired..."
He yawned as he spoke.
"You were let loose for just over a month, and you've turned into this miserable state again!" Old Master Ji kicked him. "No one is dropping you off; go register by yourself!"
Ji Zhouye shrank his neck. "I was wrong."
Rong Yu spoke up, "Alright, get in the car. We're leaving."
The family got into the car.
The driver first dropped Ji Zhouye off at his school, then Ji Jingchuan, and finally drove to the main entrance of Huaqing University.
The sunlight poured down like melted gold onto the gates of Huaqing University. Rong Yu stood at the entrance, slightly narrowing her eyes as she examined the plaque of this century-old prestigious institution.
The two of them passed through the gates and stepped onto the main road of Huaqing University. Tall, lush old trees lined both sides of the street, their branches and leaves intertwining to form a natural archway. The campus was filled with freshmen dragging their luggage and upperclassmen helping them out. The sound of cheerful laughter brimmed with youthful vitality.
"This is truly the dream hall of learning," Old Master Ji sighed with emotion. "Back when I went to school, we didn't have such great conditions!"
The old man was wearing a dark blue Zhongshan suit. Although he was nearly eighty years old, he was hale and hearty, and his eyes were strikingly bright. Among the parents dropping their children off at school, he was certainly the oldest.
He looked around with great interest, much like an overgrown child.
Rong Yu chuckled. She wasn't in a hurry to register, so she took her elderly son for a leisurely stroll around the campus.
"Look, what a beautiful junior!"
"With those looks, she's more than qualified to be the campus belle, right?"
"She looks a bit familiar. I think that's Rong Yu, the one who represented Huaxia and won first place in the International Physics Olympiad!"
"She was already beautiful on camera, but I didn't expect her to look even better in person!"
"Junior, which college are you registering at? Let me carry your suitcase for you..."
"Shoo, shoo, get out of here!" Old Master Ji waved his hands with exaggerated motions, driving away a large group of eager male students. "You are all the proud sons of Huaqing University. What kind of behavior is this, not being able to walk when you see a pretty girl? Hurry up and go study in the classrooms, kids!"
One boy braced himself and spoke up, "I'm a member of the student union, and my task today is to help the freshmen register. Junior Rong Yu, let me take you to the registration area."
Rong Yu smiled and nodded. "Thank you, senior."
Old Master Ji curled his lips to the side.
He had wanted to say something, but was stopped by a glance from Rong Yu. Forget it, it really was getting late, and it was time to register.
The three of them made their way through the bustling crowd, walking along the tree-lined path toward the College of Science. Along the way, people kept turning their heads to look, and whispers rose and fell.
"That must be Rong Yu who's always on the news. She's really beautiful."
"She won a prize in the International Physics Competition, so she must have applied for the Physics Department."
"A girl in the Physics Department, she's truly amazing!"
Rong Yu turned a deaf ear to these discussions and followed behind the senior with a calm and unhurried pace.
When they reached the College of Science, there were many subdivided majors. The senior stopped and asked, "Junior, this is the place. Which college and department are you in?"
Rong Yu replied, "The Tianxingjian Class."
The senior's footsteps came to an abrupt halt, and he almost tripped over his own feet. He turned his head with wide eyes. "Wh-what? The Tianxingjian Class?"
This exclamation caused several passing students nearby to stop in their tracks, their shocked gazes uniformly fixed on Rong Yu.
The Tianxingjian Class was a legend at Huaqing University. It only recruited about twenty top geniuses each year, and they were all cultivated to become future leaders in the scientific community.
"That's impossible..." A boy wearing thick glasses pushed them up his nose. "Aren't the students in the Tianxingjian Class all nerds?"
"Who are you calling a nerd?" Old Master Ji immediately bristled with anger. He puffed out his chest and said, "Our Rong Yu was admitted early to Huaqing because of a special contribution award. She led the Huaxia team to win the gold medal in the International Physics Competition, and she's also the project founder for the innovative application of the new element Shi..."
Rong Yu coughed several times in a row.
Old Master Ji felt the sharp glare from his own mother, so he could only swallow the rest of his unfinished words.
The senior swallowed his shock and said, "The T-Tianxingjian Class is over here. Come with me."
Rong Yu followed him inside, walking all the way to the innermost area.
At the registration desk was a female teacher in her thirties. She took one look at Rong Yu and immediately recognized her. She smiled and said, "Welcome to the Tianxingjian Class, student Rong Yu. I will be your counselor from now on. My surname is Cheng, just call me Ms. Cheng. Here is your university ID card, and here is your dorm key. Go to your dorm and settle in first. There's an evening study session tonight at seven o'clock, and we'll formally introduce ourselves then."
Rong Yu took the items. "Thank you, Ms. Cheng."
The senior led Rong Yu toward the girls' dormitory building.
When they reached the ground floor, Rong Yu looked at her elderly son who was about to follow her up. She said helplessly, "Yingbao, dropping me off here is fine. You can go back now, be a good boy."
Old Master Ji looked reluctant to part. "Mom, we agreed you would come home every weekend. You can't break your promise."
"Don't worry." Rong Yu assigned him some tasks. "You must keep up with your morning exercises every day and send me a video to check in. Also, remember to read those books I bought for you..."
"Oh, Mom, I know." Old Master Ji rubbed his face. "Then Mom, you go upstairs first."
Rong Yu turned around and dragged her suitcase into the dormitory building.
After walking in, she looked back and saw that her elderly son had met up with the bodyguards before she finally went upstairs.
Her dorm was at the end of the corridor on the second floor. She unlocked the door with her key and walked in. It was very spacious, a room for three with three beds. Her other two roommates had already arrived.
Rong Yu had seen the roster. There were a total of twenty-eight students in this year's Tianxingjian Class, and only three of them were girls—the three of them.
She smiled and spoke, "Hello, I'm Rong Yu."
The two girls, who were making their beds, turned their heads.
A slightly chubby girl with straight bangs smiled and said, "My name is Yu Kexin."
The other girl, wearing thick glasses, had an expressionless face. "I'm Xue Yun."
