Chapter 117 The Deal with Steve, The Truth Behind Everything
Chapter 117 The Deal with Steve, The Truth Behind Everything
Chapter 117 The Deal with Steve, the Truth
Before heading to the Middle East, Logan had to return to his previous farm.
During the last escape, due to the urgency of the situation, all the weapons and equipment in the farm's basement were left behind.
Now that they are about to enter the Middle East, they cannot do without sufficient weapons and equipment; they must find a way to retrieve them.
On the way to the old farm, Victor, in the passenger seat, complained, "It's been so long, those weapons were probably confiscated by the disciplinary squad long ago."
A week had passed since they last escaped the old farm, and Victor felt there was hardly anything left on the farm.
Logan, who was driving the car, shook his head and said, "The weapons are all in the basement. The entrance to that place is very well hidden. I feel that the scouts from the disciplinary team shouldn't be able to find it. Besides, their attention was all in the mountains and forests at the time, so they probably didn't have time to look for any basement."
As he spoke, Logan glanced at the time and added, "The Hydra guys arranged for us to board the plane and depart tomorrow afternoon, so we don't have much time left."
Time was running out for them, so Logan and Victor had no choice but to set off overnight.
Fortunately, it doesn't take long to drive to the old farm; it only takes a few hours to get there.
When the vehicle arrived at the edge of the farm, Logan saw lights on inside the farm, which startled him so much that he quickly turned off the headlights and parked the car on the side of the road.
"Damn it, the disciplinary squad hasn't left yet?"
Logan looked at the lights in the farm, his brows furrowed. A whole week had passed, and there were still people on the farm?
"What do we do now, touch it?"
Victor, in the passenger seat, seemed eager to try, his eyes brimming with fighting spirit.
After a moment's thought, Logan nodded and said, "Let's go, let's find a way to get into the basement."
Since we're already here, we can't just give up because the farm lights are on.
The two got out of the car and approached the farm under the cover of night. As they neared the farm gate, they saw the guards inside.
Upon seeing the guards' uniforms, Logan and Victor were momentarily taken aback.
"How could it be S.H.I.E.L.D.?"
Victor frowned. He recognized their attire; they were a S.H.I.E.L.D. task force.
This made him feel a bit tricky, since although the disciplinary team had a lot of people, most of them were small fry and not difficult to deal with.
But these guys from S.H.I.E.L.D. are all excellent agents, far more troublesome than the Boys.
"It might be related to what happened in New York."
Logan huddled in a corner, watching the SHIELD advance team constantly patrolling the farm, and began to have his own guesses.
Perhaps the commotion in New York was too big, attracting the attention of S.H.I.E.L.D., so they took over all the major cases of the Detective Agency and discovered that a large number of mutants had been found in this area, so they came to investigate.
Victor nodded in agreement, acknowledging Logan's guess, and then couldn't help but ask, "So what do we do now? They're all here guarding the place."
These advance teams from S.H.I.E.L.D. were highly skilled and exceptionally dedicated, constantly patrolling and scanning the farm entrance, giving them absolutely no chance to sneak in.
Logan was also in a dilemma. He didn't know if it was just S.H.I.E.L.D. people here or if there were Avengers mixed in. If the Avengers were also involved in this investigation, then it would be troublesome.
If a conflict were to break out, they might be held up by these guys and might miss the time they agreed to meet with Hydra.
Thinking of this, Logan frowned and looked at the farm, muttering, "Don't rush, let me think about it first."
At this point, he discovered that most of these S.H.I.E.L.D. task forces were concentrated in the outskirts, patrolling around the farm.
The situation inside the farm was relatively more relaxed; at least Logan didn't find any trace of the task force inside.
The basement entrance where the weapons were hidden was in the center of the farm. If he could find a way to get around the guards outside, he would have a chance to steal the weapons.
Thinking of this, Logan turned to Victor and said, "You go distract them, I'll sneak in and get the weapons. We'll meet outside later."
If Victor can make some noise and distract the special forces outside, he can sneak in.
After all, this mission may be quite risky, and they must have a sufficient amount of weapons on hand.
While venturing into S.H.I.E.L.D.-controlled areas is risky, going on a Hydra mission without weapons is obviously even more dangerous.
Now that things have come to this, Logan has no choice but to risk everything and find a way to get weapons.
"You're going in alone? Are you sure you're okay?"
Victor asked worriedly, after all, that was a place controlled by S.H.I.E.L.D., and the danger level was much higher than the outer perimeter. If they broke in and were discovered, they might be surrounded and trapped inside.
Logan simply smiled at Victor's concerns, patted him on the shoulder, and said, "Don't worry, even if I'm discovered, I'm confident I can escape."
Now that he has unlocked the skill of flying, if all else fails, he can fly away in a flash without worrying about being surrounded.
Seeing Logan's confident gaze, Victor nodded in relief. "Then you hide well, I'll lure them away."
After saying that, Victor suddenly stood up and strode towards the farm.
Although it was late at night, the farm was brightly lit, and the SHIELD task force patrolling inside spotted him immediately, raising their guns and shouting, "Halt! Who goes there?!"
Seeing this, Victor roared, "You damned thieves, give the farm back to us!"
After saying that, he raised his gun and pulled the trigger.
boom!
The pistol spewed fire, bullets whistling through the air, the high-speed spinning bullets flying straight toward the chest of a task force member.
The special forces member couldn't dodge in time and was hit by a bullet. He fell backward to the ground with a painful groan, but he didn't die. The bullet was lodged in his bulletproof vest.
"Damn it, grab this guy!"
Upon seeing this, the squad leader of the special task force was furious. This guy was all alone, yet he dared to attack them.
The squad members coordinated well; two men pointed their guns at Victor, while the rest lunged at him, attempting to capture him.
Victor, however, remained calm and put away his pistol. He engaged in a fierce fight with the special task force members who came to capture him, and with his superb fighting skills, he even managed to gain the upper hand.
The fight here successfully attracted all the patrol teams in the vicinity.
Seeing more and more people arriving and him about to be surrounded, Victor knew his mission was accomplished. He forcefully pushed aside the two task force members in front of him and turned to flee frantically.
"Grab him!"
The task force clearly didn't want to let Victor go and shouted orders.
All the task force members immediately followed Victor's footsteps and chased after him frantically.
While everyone's attention was drawn to Victor, Logan took the opportunity to sneak into the farm. Because it was late at night and he was very careful, he did not attract any attention and successfully blended into the farm.
Logan had lived on the farm for a while and knew its layout very well. He tried to stay in the shaded areas and made his way to the building where McCa was.
The basement of this building was the armory of the entire shelter, where all the weapons that had previously been stored were kept.
The entrance is also very well hidden. There is a box in the corner of the living room on the first floor. After opening the box and lifting the base underneath, you will find the entrance to the basement.
Logan carefully pushed open the door to the small house that McCain had previously occupied. After confirming that there were no people around, he immediately went to the box in the corner of the living room.
This box is quite large, measuring two meters long and one meter wide; it's practically like a large coffin.
Looking at the box that showed no signs of being opened, Logan couldn't help but mutter, "That guy's got a knack for hiding things."
After all, it's hard for anyone to imagine that the bottom of this box actually connects to a basement.
It was precisely because of the secrecy of this entrance that Logan was very confident that the scouts would have a hard time finding it.
Logan opened the box, lifted the base, crawled inside, and climbed the ladder to the basement.
The basement was incredibly spacious, almost the size of a basketball court, yet it was filled with all sorts of weapons and ammunition—it was practically an armory.
"That guy was sleeping on top of all these weapons, wasn't he afraid of them exploding?"
Logan couldn't help but mutter a complaint as he looked at the weapons.
If all the ammunition stored here were detonated, the entire building would be reduced to ashes in an instant.
After muttering something, Logan found a box in the basement, dumped out all the bullets stored inside, and then began to select some weapons that might be useful and stuff them in. After filling the box completely, he was about to carry it out of the basement.
But just as he was about to leave, he suddenly sensed footsteps behind him.
The next moment, a crisp sound of a gun being cocked rang out, sounding particularly jarring in the silent basement.
"Don't move, put the things down."
The person behind him spoke slowly, his voice full of warning, as if he would not hesitate to shoot if Logan dared to make any small move.
Logan had no choice but to gently put down the box in his hand, and couldn't help but sigh in his heart. He had been careless. The S.H.I.E.L.D. guys were obviously not easy to deal with. They could find such a hidden basement, and there were even people who had set up an ambush.
As he pondered, Logan glanced to both sides out of the corner of his eye.
At that moment, he noticed a drone, no bigger than a fist, hovering beside him. The drone was shaped like a flying eagle.
The image of the eagle instantly reminded Logan of someone, and he exclaimed in surprise, "A falcon?"
In all the Marvel movies he's seen, only one person owns the same drone: Falcon Sam.
After speaking, Logan slowly turned around and saw the person behind him who was pointing a gun at him. It was a completely black man with his hair shaved almost to his scalp, making him look like a bald man at first glance. He was wearing yellow sunglasses, had a thin stubble around his mouth, and was dressed in a black combat suit. He had a metallic black backpack on his back, which contained a set of bionic wings.
"It really is you."
Logan squinted at Sam, surprised to run into him here. But then again, it made sense; at this point in time, Sam had joined the Avengers, so it was normal for him to be at a S.H.I.E.L.D. location.
Sam was clearly surprised to see that Logan recognized him.
After all, he was a newcomer with no outstanding achievements, but he never expected that someone would know him.
"I've only been a member of the Avengers for a short time, and you already know my codename. Looks like you've done your homework."
He smiled at Logan, believing Logan to be an enemy who was always watching the Avengers and knew about their personnel movements. Because of this, the threat in his eyes became more obvious, and he moved the gun in his hand from Logan's chest to Logan's head.
In his view, those who are deliberately trying to find out about the Avengers are not easy to deal with.
"Even though you know me, you still can't take these things with you; they're all evidence now!"
As he spoke, he adjusted his glasses slightly with his other hand.
The glasses, equipped with a smart chip, instantly performed a simple scan of Logan and matched his true identity.
Looking at the information reflected in his glasses, Sam was taken aback and looked at Logan in surprise, asking, "Are you Wolverine?"
He looked Logan up and down, never expecting to encounter Wolverine here.
When questioned, Logan nodded frankly, "Now that you know who I am, you'd better get out of my way. You're no match for me."
Although Sam is an Avenger, he doesn't actually have any special abilities. In battle, he relies on the bionic flight wings in his backpack to fight against others by taking advantage of his flight.
However, in this confined space, the bionic wing has very limited effect. Having completely lost his aerial advantage, he has virtually no chance of winning against Logan.
If Logan had intended to kill him, Sam would be dead by now.
After seeing Logan admit his identity, Sam frowned, holding a gun in one hand and pressing the communicator on his ear with the other. "Captain, Wolverine has appeared."
Whoosh!
As he was speaking, Logan suddenly charged at him, slamming into him hard.
Sam's pupils contracted sharply, and he quickly tried to dodge to the side.
But it was too late. Logan's shoulder slammed into his chest, sending him flying backward and crashing into the wall. The severe impact caused him to cough violently, feeling a sharp pain in his chest and a sensation as if his internal organs had been displaced.
However, he had also undergone a series of special training sessions, and he immediately reacted. The bionic flight wings behind him unfolded, and he flapped his wings and flew in mid-air.
Fortunately, the place was comparable to a basketball court, which allowed him to spread his wings, but that was all; he couldn't fly very high at all.
He flapped his wings, hovering in mid-air, clutching his chest, and glared at Logan, saying fiercely, "Fuck, you actually attacked me from behind! That wasn't a good choice!"
As he spoke, he raised his gun again, aimed it at Logan, and pulled the trigger without hesitation.
Bang bang bang! !
The piercing sound of gunfire echoed in the basement, bullets flying toward Logan.
Logan's expression hardened, and he twisted and hid behind the cabinet, perfectly avoiding all the bullets.
Taking advantage of Sam's moment of reloading, he suddenly leaped up, his powerful jumping ability propelling him directly in front of Sam, his steel claws extending without hesitation to slash down.
Click!
Logan severed Sam's pair of bionic wings at the root, causing the thick wings to fall off, and Sam fell uncontrollably from the sky.
As Logan free-falls through the air, he kicks Sam again, sending him crashing into the wall behind him.
boom!
The dull thud echoed in the basement. Sam let out a muffled groan as pain contorted his face, leaving him sitting on the floor, powerless to resist.
"Shit!"
He couldn't help but speak, but at the same time, he felt a wave of fear wash over him.
If Logan had tried to cut off his head instead of his wings, he would be dead now.
Just then, he looked up and saw Logan striding towards him.
Seeing Logan's actions, Sam panicked, thinking that Logan was going to kill him.
Logan clearly had no interest in his life; he merely glanced at him before picking up the weapon crate from the ground and turning to leave.
At that moment, a figure jumped down from the entrance.
Steve stood in front of Logan, glanced at Logan, then at Sam who looked pained on the other side, and frowned. "Logan, we need to talk."
"Steve."
Logan looked at his former comrade-in-arms and couldn't help but frown. "I didn't expect to see you here."
I thought Sam, one of the Avengers, would be enough to guard this sanctuary, but I didn't expect S.H.I.E.L.D. to send Steve along as well.
Logan frowned as he watched Steve's figure disappear, after all, this guy was much more difficult to deal with than Sam.
Fortunately, Steve didn't look like he was about to fight. Instead, he tried to persuade him, saying, "The people from S.H.I.E.L.D. heard the commotion and are on their way. This isn't the place to talk. Come with me."
He waved to Logan, beckoning him to leave the basement together.
He was now really eager to talk to Logan.
Meanwhile, Sam, watching Steve's actions, couldn't help but ask, "Steve, this guy almost killed me just now. Are you sure you want to talk to him?"
Looking at Sam's expression, Steve sighed helplessly, "If he really wanted to kill you, you would be a corpse by now."
If they were outside, Sam might be able to put up a fight with Logan using his flying ability, but in a place like the basement, if Logan really wanted to kill him, it would be incredibly easy.
After saying that, Steve was the first to walk out of the basement.
After thinking for a moment, Logan also picked up the box and followed Steve.
Led by Steve, they arrived at a secluded place.
Looking at Steve across from him, Logan frowned and asked, "What do you want to talk about?"
Steve sighed, looking at Logan's wary eyes, and said helplessly, "Logan, stop. If you give up fighting against S.H.I.E.L.D. and the Avengers, I can help you solve the problems facing mutants."
"I've researched the history of mutants and learned about you. You were once superheroes, but you're misunderstood by society now. If you're willing, we can help you clear your name."
He looked at Logan and spoke with an eager expression.
In the historical records he had seen, mutants were once superheroes, revered beings, but a series of events led to their current state.
Steve believes this is not something that cannot be changed.
Faced with Steve's naive idea, Logan simply smiled and said, "Steve, don't be delusional. This situation is not something you or I can easily change. The only way for mutants to pursue equality is through violence!"
Seeing this, Steve wanted to say something to persuade him, but Logan beat him to it, saying, "Alright, let's talk about this later. Right now, I want to make a deal with you."
After seeing Steve, Logan couldn't help but think of something that Steve could help him with.
"What kind of deal?"
Steve was taken aback and looked at Logan with a puzzled expression.
Logan smiled slightly, narrowing his eyes, and said, "A deal that can wipe out a group of Hydras."
Upon hearing this, Steve's eyes lit up instantly.
Dealing with mutants is important, but dealing with Hydra is just as important to him!
