Chapter 37 The Tang Brothers in Trouble
Chapter 37 The Tang Brothers in Trouble
I took Wang Yan home and visited Wang Long, who was receiving an IV drip at the time.
That's the style of giving injections; everything can be administered via IV drip.
He's a good person; it's fine whether you go to the clinic or he comes to your home.
After chatting for a while, I told the other person to take good care of themselves and not to go to the county for the next few days.
Lin Chuan went to Wang Liang's house again, told him about Wang Long's situation, and also told him to take a few days off.
Having experienced the robbery, they now obey Lin Chuan's every word without question.
Adding to yesterday's experience, Wang Liang was still shaken. Hearing that he would have to rest for a few days actually made him feel inexplicably relieved.
As Lin Chuan and his two companions walked back, they ran into Tang Laosan and Tang Laoda at the threshing ground.
Tang Laosan turned his head to the side, pretending not to see them, while Tang Laoda smiled and nodded at him.
Just as the two were about to leave, they heard Lin Chuan say:
"Uncle Tang, I heard you're planning to go hunting wild boar tonight?"
"Yes, we're going to try our luck. The kids at home haven't had meat in a long time, so we'll hunt one to help them recover."
To nourish the body?
Thinking of the chubby little ones in the Tang family, Lin Chuan suppressed a smile and raised his voice slightly as he spoke:
"Uncle Tang, why don't you reconsider? Wild boars at night are dangerous and not to be trifled with."
"Lin Chuan, what do you mean? You can't stand to see us doing well, can you? Or are you saying that only you can hunt wild boars, but we can't?"
Lin Chuan's words displeased Tang Laosan, and his tone became equally displeased.
Lin Chuan didn't seem to care about his attitude; if someone else had said those words to him, he wouldn't have been happy either.
But Lin Chuan's original intention was not to remind him, well, you could say that, but reminding him wouldn't have helped anyway.
Lin Chuan meant to tell others that there were more than just the two groups at the threshing ground.
Sure enough, as Tang Laosan started shouting, all the onlookers turned to look.
Lin Chuan put on a wronged look:
"Uncle Tang, I never said that only I can hunt wild boars. Whoever catches something on this mountain keeps it. I was just reminding you of the danger."
"you…"
Tang Laosan was furious, but Lin Chuan's words seemed to make sense, so he simply turned around and left, while Tang Laoda also went home.
A bystander asked, "Xiao Chuan, is this wild boar really that dangerous?"
"Yeah, think about domestic pigs. It takes three or four people to hold them down when they're slaughtered. Wild boars are much fiercer than domestic pigs."
"Don't they have guns?"
"Unless you shoot it in the head, a wild boar isn't that easy to kill. If you don't kill it, it might go berserk and charge at you... just imagine..."
Lin Chuan said this, glancing around, his voice rising a few decibels:
"I know everyone wants to hunt wild boar for meat, but I suggest that those who want to go should do so during the day."
Go with a few more people. If things get dangerous, climb the tree. Safety first; otherwise, an accident could be very serious.
After Lin Chuan finished speaking, he left with Lin Feng and Lin Xue.
On the way, Lin Feng asked, puzzled:
"Brother, why did you remind them?"
"Xiao Feng, do you know Old Zhou from Team Three?"
There was an old man named Zhou in the third team. He was all alone and no one associated with him.
The reason was that many years ago, the upstream water level was full, and he felt that there would be a flood, but he did not tell anyone and moved up the mountain by himself.
A few days later, a major flood occurred. He was unharmed, but people in the village died.
Then he was isolated.
Actually, you can't entirely blame them for this. They were just guessing, and even if they had said it, no one would have moved it.
But the family of the deceased didn't think that way. They spread rumors that he was cold-blooded, and in the end, Old Man Zhou was isolated.
Lin Feng had also heard about this, and he nodded thoughtfully. Lin Chuan smiled and said:
"Look, this is a bit like Old Zhou's situation. I'm the only one in the village who has ever hunted wild boars. If I don't say anything, and someone else gets gored by a wild boar, will they blame me?"
"Brother, that's why you told Tang Laosan it was dangerous, so they wouldn't be able to find you if something happened to them."
"Hmm, not only will they not be able to find me, but people will only think: 'Look, Lin Chuan even reminded those who bullied him...'"
Lin Feng gave Lin Chuan a thumbs up, and the two brothers looked at each other and smiled. Lin Xue didn't understand, but that didn't stop her from smiling along with him.
After laughing, Lin Feng asked curiously:
"Brother, do you think Tang Laosan and his gang will get into trouble? They have guns."
"How would I know? I'm not a god. It's all about luck."
Lin Chuan didn't know if Tang Laosan and his group would get into trouble; there were too many variables involved, making it impossible to predict.
But in any real emergency, even if they have guns, it's useless.
Even the most powerful gun is useless if the user doesn't know how to use it.
Lin Chuan and his group lived in a remote area. Back in the day, when they were just getting by, they never came to this area. As a result, very few guns remained, and even fewer people could shoot accurately.
Some families do have homemade guns, but those are completely different from regular guns.
The two chattered with crickets all the way home, and only then did they reluctantly wash up and prepare for bed.
After washing up, the room was still wet, and Lin Chuan's desire to build a bathroom grew even stronger.
The next day, Lin Chuan was fast asleep when Wang Hu arrived.
"Uncle, why are you here so early?"
"Something's happened. Quickly change your shoes and come with me, and bring your bow."
Upon hearing "bring a bow," Lin Chuan immediately understood what it meant. He asked while putting on his shoes:
"Uncle, is it because Tang Laosan and the others haven't returned?"
"Yes, their wife came to me just now and said they hadn't come back all night and wanted me to send someone up the mountain to look for them."
Lin Chuan glanced at the time; it was 6:30.
"It's still early. They might have found something and are carrying it back."
"They took what you said yesterday to heart. They discussed it before they left, and they agreed to come back before dawn."
Even if they got something, they would send someone back first. It's been more than an hour since dawn, something must have happened.
Hearing this, Lin Chuan didn't ask any more questions. He put on his shoes, took his bow, and followed Wang Hu to the threshing ground.
As soon as he arrived, many people gathered around him. After all, he had just said there was danger last night, and it had come true overnight. Everyone wanted to hear his opinion.
Tang's eldest daughter-in-law squeezed through:
"Xiao Chuan, did something really happen to your Uncle Tang and the others?"
"Auntie, what time did they leave last night?"
They left a little after nine o'clock.
"Then they must have run into something. Did they say where they were going?"
Upon hearing Lin Chuan's words, the wives of the three Tang brothers all turned pale and tears streamed down their faces.
"Auntie, they might not be in any danger. The most important thing now is to find them. Do you know where they went?"
"I know, my dad said they're going to Liziao."
The one who said this was Tang Laosan's son, Tang Shan. Hearing him say this, his third wife nodded vigorously:
"Yes, yes, they said they were going to Liziao."
Lin Chuan glanced at Wang Hu, who understood and waved to some of the stronger men:
"Let's go to Liziao."
The group marched towards Liziao in a grand procession. Lin Chuan counted them; including himself and Wang Hu, there were ten people in total.
Apart from him and Wang Hu, the other eight people were carrying homemade guns.
