Chapter 458 - 457: Mr. Ryuji is so reliable
"So, let's go eat something first. Don't worry, if you train Life Return properly, even if you somehow became a big fat woman, you'd still be able to slim back down to your current beautiful figure within two or three days."
At the very least, he believed that if Charlotte Linlin were willing to train properly, she definitely wouldn't remain looking like a grotesque fat monster. Maybe not eternally youthful, but at minimum she'd still look human and reasonably presentable.
Meanwhile, Tifa clutched her stomach and puffed up her cheeks slightly after hearing Ryuji's words.
"Honestly, I'm not a fat woman at all."
"Right. After all, Tifa's very beautiful."
Ryuji didn't think much about it and instead continued trying to present himself as calm and reliable. Then, before Tifa could ask anything else, he immediately returned to the main topic.
"Ah, right. This technique requires meditation while training, which actually pairs perfectly with the meditation used in your Zangan Style, so you can basically replace it entirely. The only issue is that during meditation, I'll need to stay beside you and watch over you. Since, you won't be able to learn it through normal methods."
Ryuji explained casually, while Tifa once again showed an embarrassed expression.
"Um… won't that be too much trouble for you?"
"Not really. After all, you gave me the Zangan-style training method, which allowed me to modify the Shiranui-ryū training method. I did promise Mai that I'd help revitalize the Shiranui-ryū, after all. Your Zangan-style training method, especially when it comes to shaping the body, gave me a lot of inspiration."
As he spoke, Ryuji pushed open the kitchen door.
The kitchen at the Shiranui dojo was quite old-fashioned. There was even a woodshed attached to it. Although there was a gas stove on one side, the most eye-catching feature was still the traditional cooking hearth.
Tifa was actually more familiar with hearth-style kitchens.
But at that moment, Mai was sitting beside the stove, staring blankly at the boiling water while constantly giggling to herself.
"Hehe… children…"
It was obvious that Mai had already completely sunk into fantasies about having children of her own.
"Mai, we need some food. Preferably a lot."
Ryuji gently patted Mai's shoulder, startling her back to reality. She quickly stood up and looked somewhat embarrassed when she noticed Tifa nearby.
If it had only been Ryuji here, she absolutely would've thrown herself into his arms already, and the two of them probably would've started doing something right there in the kitchen.
But because Tifa was present, she suddenly felt shy.
This was still somewhat different from how things had been with Andy. After all, Ryuji hadn't driven her to the point of obsession and madness through unattainability, yet her passion and initiative were still very much there.
"No problem!"
She quickly pulled out ingredients and snacks from the refrigerator, handing the snacks to Tifa first before quickly beginning to prepare food and cook rice.
"Um… I'll help too."
Tifa shyly raised her hand. After washing her hands at the side, she began helping Mai wash vegetables.
Mai didn't refuse.
But the moment Tifa started washing vegetables, her stomach let out a loud growl at the absolute worst possible timing, immediately drawing everyone's attention.
As Mai and Ryuji both looked toward her, Tifa felt like her entire face was on fire.
She desperately wanted to run away, but she couldn't. All she could do was lower her head and stammer awkwardly:
"Um… I… well…"
She was very embarrassed.
But Ryuji simply smiled, picked up a meat floss pastry from the snacks Mai had taken out, and held it in front of Tifa.
If this had been yesterday, Tifa absolutely never would've accepted food like this.
But now, looking at Ryuji's smiling face, she no longer resisted nearly as much.
"Thank you…"
After softly but clearly voicing her thanks, Tifa bit into the pastry Ryuji offered her and quickly began to eat.
Beside them, Mai couldn't help laughing lightly before speaking up:
"You don't need to be so shy, Tifa. After all, we almost ended up fighting side by side before."
She still cared a lot about those earlier experiences.
Meanwhile, Tifa continued chewing and nodded.
"Mm."
Even though she had never been to the world of 7 Days to Die world, she actually longed for that sort of life where everyone struggled together just to survive.
Meanwhile, Ryuji placed the snacks somewhere within easy reach for Tifa before beginning to think deeply again, thinking about how the Zangan style could transform both his own martial arts and the Shiranui-ryū martial arts.
The more he thought about it, the more serious he became. Unable to stop himself, he even pulled out some paper currency from his pocket and began writing notes on it.
But what he didn't notice was that, while he was completely absorbed in his research, the way Tifa looked at him while cooking gradually began to change.
Mr. Ryuji is so reliable...
Watching the serious-faced Ryuji rapidly scribbling down ideas, Tifa couldn't help but think of her father when he used to work earnestly.
They both carried that same sense of reliability.
Especially because Ryuji not only treated her very well, but also respected her as a person. Even when helping her, he would carefully consider her dignity and principles.
How wonderful…
Tifa couldn't help but look at Mai Shiranui with envy, because Mai was able to enjoy the sense of safety and happiness that Ryuji brought her without any worries, along with abundant money and material comfort.
Those were all things Tifa herself had once had, but ultimately lost.
And she could tell that Mai was someone just like her, someone who had also once lost those things.
But right now, Mai's face was overflowing with happiness.
That feeling of happiness that came from finally finding one's precious treasure couldn't be faked.
Mr. Ryuji really cares about Miss Mai…
A trace of jealousy unconsciously appeared in her heart.
Because aside from her father, no one else around her had ever treated her like that.
But the father who protected was gone forever.
And the boy who once swore he would protect her had become a dog of the Shinra Company. When she needed him most, he wasn't by her side.
She couldn't even find him at all.
