Chapter 11 Let's be friends first.
……
"Then I'll take my leave."
After receiving permission, Angel Yan walked in through the glass door without any hesitation. She casually folded her white wings and walked with her long, straight legs to the sofa, where she sat down next to Si Ye.
She rested her chin on one hand, her eyes slightly narrowed, and smiled as she looked the black-haired, red-eyed man in front of her up and down.
Faced with this almost unbridled scrutiny, Si Ye's brows furrowed almost imperceptibly.
"Do all the people here have a particular fondness for spying?"
"In my understanding, whether it's reading dark data or physical surveillance, this kind of unauthorized, one-sided spying is an extremely impolite act of intrusion. Or do you have some completely different, noble view on this behavior?"
"Oh dear, don't put it so harshly. It can't be called spying; in our angelic terms, it should be called 'vigilant observation.'"
Yan, far from feeling embarrassed, retorted confidently, "Who told you to make such a terrifying 'showcase' last night? You practically blasted the sky apart with one punch! Who would dare approach an unknown creature of unknown origin, radiating terrifying energy, suddenly appearing on Earth? It's too dangerous. For safety reasons, everyone would have to observe you carefully from a distance, at least assessing your tendency to kill people before even meeting you, before attempting to get close. Isn't that right?"
Si Ye did not refute this.
He stood up, walked to the minibar in the room, and took a bottle of chilled Coke from the refrigerator. He returned to the sofa, picked up a glass, and poured himself half a glass.
"Sizzle—"
The sound of carbon dioxide bubbles rising and falling was exceptionally clear in the quiet room.
Seeing this, Yan naturally leaned out, picked up the Coke bottle that Si Ye had placed on the table, poured himself a full glass, and even took a satisfied sip.
Si Ye looked at her acting as if she owned the place and was somewhat speechless: "So, you're choosing to approach me directly now because you think I'm no longer in danger?"
"It's not that there's absolutely no danger."
Yan put down her cup, her joking expression fading. "I just think that if you keep 'spying' like this so brazenly, you might really lose your temper."
Si Ye raised an eyebrow. "Your observation skills are quite keen."
"If I can't even capture this most basic emotion, then I've wasted my seven thousand years as a left-wing guard."
Yan shrugged and frankly revealed his secret: "Deno No. 3 from Super God Academy is spying on you all over the world, while I am secretly hacking into their system to 'spy' on Super God Academy."
At this point, a very faint blush flashed across Yan's cheeks, a rare occurrence. She coughed lightly to cover it up, saying, "After all, spying on you directly with my Eye of Insight is somewhat dangerous. I was caught red-handed by you through the atmosphere just last night. If you catch me in the act again today, I'll be too embarrassed."
"In the real-time surveillance footage from Super God Academy, I noticed many times that you were very aware that there was a pair of eyes watching you. On several occasions, when the surveillance camera locked onto you, your micro-expressions and body language showed extremely obvious agitation."
"You were definitely angry. But for some reason I don't understand, you forced yourself to hold it in."
"I don't know if those people from Super God Academy are out of their minds and didn't notice, or if they simply think that because you didn't destroy the surveillance cameras on the spot, you're condoning their actions."
"But my personal principle is to act with discretion. An unknown god with world-destroying power, knowing that someone is watching him in the dark, still restrained himself and showed impatience through his emotions. This in itself is a silent warning that he is on the verge of exploding."
"If we really anger this kind of person, it won't be a good thing for either Earth or the angels."
Yan picked up her cola and took another sip, then continued, "Furthermore, this afternoon you made contact with that Earth girl named Qilin and that carefree Sun Goddess Di Leina. Judging from your speech, logic, and the fact that you didn't indiscriminately kill innocent people in these two encounters, you don't seem to be the kind of dangerous individual who exists purely for destruction."
"After a comprehensive assessment, I feel it's time for a face-to-face 'formal meeting' with you. So..."
Yan spread her hands and smiled, "Of course I came over."
Si Ye listened quietly to Angel Yan's long speech, put down the glass in his hand, and looked directly at the female angel in front of him.
"So, now that you're here, what do you want?" Si Ye's tone remained calm, without hostility but also without any enthusiasm. "Or rather, what do you want to know from me?"
"It's simple." Angel Yan smiled slightly, leaning back on the sofa in a relaxed manner, her fingers lightly tapping her knees. "For now... let's be friends first."
Seeing Si Ye's slightly furrowed brows, Yan chuckled and explained, "Don't be so defensive. I overheard some of your conversation with Lena earlier. A civilization that hasn't experienced any internal violence for 50,000 years—this near-absolute rationality and order is quite incredible, even within our angelic, long-standing cognitive system."
She tilted her head slightly, her beautiful eyes sparkling with undisguised curiosity: "That's why I'm very interested in you, or rather, in your civilization."
Looking at the confident and youthful female angel before him, Si Ye suddenly asked a somewhat abrupt question:
How old are you?
Yan was taken aback, seemingly not expecting this aloof "alien demon king" to suddenly jump to the topic of a woman's age. However, as the left-wing guard of the Holy Keisha, she naturally wouldn't care about the concerns of these mortals.
"According to Earth's dating system... seven thousand years old."
"Seven thousand years old..."
Si Ye lowered his eyes, looking at the bursting carbonated bubbles in the glass, and his tone revealed a rare, heartfelt emotion: "Having lived for seven thousand years, to still be able to maintain such vigorous energy and curiosity about the unknown like you, I really envy you."
"I am over 1,200 years old this year. In my civilization, my age is considered to be in my later years, quite old."
"Of course, in the eyes of a cosmic immortal like you who has lived for seven thousand years, I am probably just a child who hasn't grown up yet."
Upon hearing this, Angel Yan's smile vanished.
She sat up straight, her insightful eyes scrutinizing Si Ye's young and handsome face, which was also etched with endless vicissitudes.
"I don't think you're a child at all." Yan shook her head slightly, her tone becoming serious.
"For us angels, the word 'child' is never used to measure absolute age."
Yan looked into Si Ye's eyes and said softly, "It's usually used to describe those immature, low-dimensional beings whose minds are filled with base desires and who are completely unable to communicate with us on the same wavelength. For example... those mortals on Earth who fight to the death for petty gains all day long, or certain beasts whose minds are filled with nothing but destructive desires."
Yan leaned forward slightly, closing the distance between them.
"But you are different. Based on my observations over the past two days, even if you do nothing but sit there quietly, the heavy, almost impenetrable sense of gloom and despair emanating from you is impossible to ignore."
"Although you are only a little over a thousand years old, the rise and fall of civilizations you have borne in these short thousand years, the despair and struggles you have experienced..." A complex emotion flashed in Yan's eyes, seemingly sympathy, yet also awe, "I am probably much more complex than I am, an angel who has fought alongside Queen Keisha for seven thousand years."
