Chapter 31: Jason Gets Troublesome
Chapter 31: Jason Gets Troublesome
For Jason, the weather on the Bering Sea was absolutely terrible.
This was his first time panning for gold, and he had anticipated that the weather in the Bering Sea would be harsh.
When the heavy snow hit, everything was white. When he went out to clear the snow, he had to wear thick gloves. If he wasn't careful, he would get stuck to the iron railings. Only then did he understand what this place was like.
He originally planned to have one person work at sea while the other looked after the equipment, allowing him to rest, but it seems he was being naive.
We need to go out to clear snow every half hour to prevent damage to the equipment.
The main problem was that the snow was falling too heavily, and there was also a light wind. Although it didn't affect the gold panning work, the snow removal process still left my face stiff from slapping.
After learning that Jason had gone ashore to get coffee and snacks, Cass, who was driving a speedboat, also came to the Lillian and tied the speedboat directly to the Lillian.
Cass and photographer Schlein, their cheeks red from the cold, entered the driver's seat, making the already small space feel even more cramped.
"Why don't you just call me?" Schlein approached Kyle, his tone gloomy. This guy was comfortable here, while he was freezing to death.
Kyle said sheepishly, "I forgot."
Cass did the same, taking off his down jacket, shaking off the snowflakes, and unceremoniously making himself a cup of coffee to warm up.
After finishing a cup of coffee, Cass finally warmed up and said to Jason speechlessly, "Jason, why didn't you tell us? We wouldn't have known if we hadn't asked."
"I thought you guys had been shooting in the wild for so many years, you should have experience." Jason hadn't expected this either, after all, they were all wilderness photographers, who knew it would be like this.
"I……"
Cass was speechless; he really didn't know what to say.
"Next time, next time please let us know in advance so we can be prepared."
What else could he do? Jason had such faith in their abilities, but they ended up failing miserably.
"Jason, something's not right."
Andy abruptly changed the subject, pointing through the window at a dark spot not far away, his expression grave.
Picking up his binoculars, Jason strained to make out the name "Doca" painted on the ship through the window amidst the wind and snow.
Multiple SIM card numbers?!
Andy exclaimed in surprise, his face showing confusion and shock.
Jason wasn't very interested in the Bering Sea gold rush, so he was a little confused by Andy's reaction.
"Jason, we're in trouble." Andy took the binoculars, and his expression immediately turned serious after confirming that it was indeed a multi-card number.
Jason asked, "Andy, can you tell me about it?"
The photographer also pointed his lens at them.
Andy put down his binoculars, his brows still furrowed, and slowly said, "Well, the captain of the Doca is Doca Doris."
"I've known him for a long time, but this guy doesn't do things the right way."
"About ten years ago, their ship sank in the Bering Sea due to a mishandling error. He had no choice but to work as a crew member for a while."
"Later, this kid rented a boat to pan for gold. At first, things were fine, and he paid the rent on time. But then things went wrong, and he stopped paying the rent altogether. This caused him to have a very bad reputation in the Bering Sea, and nobody rented him a boat anymore."
"That's not all. Later, when his three sons grew up, this kid led a group of people to specifically follow those who made a lot of gold, and they wouldn't let them go."
"Using this method, the kid struck gold, but it also worsened his reputation."
"Jason, this kid's got his eye on us."
As the Doca drew closer, it stopped not far from the Lillian. The crew, already equipped with diving gear, jumped into the water, grabbing the nozzle of the gold-absorbing pump.
"Damn it!" Andy cursed as he saw this.
Jason unscrewed the thermos, slowly took a sip of coffee, and quietly watched through the window.
Picking up the binoculars, you can see Doka laughing and talking to his son in the driver's seat across the way.
Perhaps sensing the gaze, Doka picked up his binoculars and saw Jason looking at him. He gave Jason a bright smile, waved, and greeted him.
"Heh~"
Jason laughed too. He wasn't worried about the infamous hyena on the Doka, because the rich mining areas were all under his detection capabilities. Even if he panned for gold in the surrounding area, he would only be eating his own leftovers.
"Damn it, Jason, someone's diving up to me and trying to steal my gold!" Brent, who was deep underwater, was startled by the sudden appearance of a dark shadow.
But when he realized that it was a person holding the tube of a gold-absorbing pump and sucking up gold, he immediately flew into a rage.
"Brent, don't let anything happen. If it doesn't work, try to surface first," Jason said calmly while sipping his coffee.
Brent said anxiously, "Jason, you can't do this! This is where we found it; the gold should be ours!"
"Don't worry, they'll be gone soon."
Andy shook his head helplessly at Jason's statement. Jason was still too young and was going to be taught a lesson by Doka, that hyena.
Jason screwed on his thermos and put on his coat.
Andy advised, "Jason, it's no use. All we can do now is suck up the gold here as quickly as possible."
"Andy, don't I usually seem like a very young person?" Jason remarked, then said to Cass, "Cass, can I borrow your speedboat's keys?"
Although she didn't know what Jason was going to do, she still gave Jason the key.
Jason pulled a box out of a cabinet in the cabin, and a shotgun appeared before everyone's eyes.
"Jason, calm down, you can't joke like this!" Andy quickly grabbed Jason, pulling him back with force.
While loading a few bullets, he pried Andy's hands open. "Andy, don't worry, I'm rich. I won't let myself go to jail."
Jason broke free from Andy's grasp and pushed open the cabin door, stepping outside.
"Why didn't you stop him?" Andy roared at Cass and the other two as he watched Jason drive the speedboat toward the Doca.
"Um, we didn't realize what was happening," Cass explained in a low voice. After all, who would have thought that Jason, who usually didn't lose his temper, would suddenly pull out a gun?
Photographer Kyle reassured him, "I don't think Jason would do anything foolish, after all, Jason is a rich man now."
However, even Kyle himself didn't quite believe this reason.
Andy paced anxiously back and forth on the deck, staring intently at Jason through his binoculars.
Although Jason usually appears very calm and acts in a mature manner, not at all like a young person, the reality is that Jason is still a young man who has just turned eighteen.
Young people don't care about the consequences when they do things.
On the Doka, watching the speedboat approaching in the distance, Doka scratched his stubble-covered chin and smiled disdainfully.
He's a young man, and he's encountered many of these things.
Moreover, this is public waters; what can he do about it?
Jason parked the speedboat next to the Doca and boarded it.
On the ship, Dorka's second son, Nal, who was inspecting the equipment, saw Jason holding a shotgun and retreated repeatedly.
"Jason, this is public waters, not your mine," Kyle said loudly, trying to bolster his courage.
Jason didn't waste any words. He cocked his gun, fired a shot onto the deck, and calmly said, "Bring the men up here first."
Doka pushed open the driver's side door and got out, looking at Jason with disdain. "Kid, who are you trying to fool? I'm here panning for gold today, what are you going to do about it?"
Jason reloaded, smiled, and fired a shot at the hot water circulation equipment.
Sparks flew everywhere, the hot water circulation system was completely destroyed, and this shot also made Doka's expression change instantly. He quickly picked up the walkie-talkie to communicate with his son underwater.
"Get up, hurry up!"
"Don't ask so many questions, just get up here right now."
Putting down the walkie-talkie, Doka stared intently at Jason and sneered, "I never expected the Wilson family to produce someone like you."
Jason didn't answer, staring silently at the water's surface. When the person surfaced, Jason reloaded and fired a shot at the diving equipment.
Doka stopped his two sons beside him. He couldn't figure Jason out either. He was calm, too calm.
"Bang bang!" Two more shots rang out, one hitting the energy supply equipment and the other hitting the gold-absorbing pump.
Jason holstered his gun, looked at Doka, sized him up, and introduced himself: "Hello, I'm Jason, you must be Doka."
Before Doka could answer, Jason continued speaking on his own.
"You probably know me, so you should know that I must have made a lot of money this year."
"I'll compensate you for these devices when I return, but if you continue to follow us, I don't mind compensating you with a few more sets of equipment."
"Believe me, I can come up with that amount of money."
After saying that, he turned and left without paying any attention to the four people's ugly expressions.
"you……"
Nar was furious and wanted to say more harsh words, but Doka stopped him.
"Let him go."
Doka could see that his previous methods were no longer effective against Jason. Now that things were like this, what was the point of making any more threats?
