Gold Rush Starts in the Bering Sea

Chapter 73: Interviewing and Recruiting

Chapter 73: Interviewing and Recruiting

"This is Shul, an experienced mechanic, and this is his son, Dana, also a mechanic."

"This is Jason, the one who recruited you, and he's currently the mine owner."

The two sides sized each other up, especially Shul and his group, who frowned slightly as they looked at Jason's handsome but still somewhat childish face.

They had assumed the recruiter would be a seasoned gold digger, but his young age made them lose hope for the trip.

Jason noticed their reaction and said with a smile, "Do you think I'm too young and unreliable? Don't worry, I come from a family of gold miners, and I think I can afford to pay your wages."

Both are repairmen, and most importantly, they are father and son. Obviously, there are only two possibilities: either they don't hire either of them, or they hire both of them. As for hiring only one of them, that possibility is too low.

The two were dressed simply in short-sleeved shirts and jeans.

Shul had a short buzz cut, and his face was lined with wrinkles from working outdoors for long periods of time. He was 1.78 meters tall, and his bare arms were muscular. His eyes were bright and piercing.

He has the typical look of a "villain".

His son, Denard, was the complete opposite. He was short but thin, and wore a baseball cap. Although he was tanned from working outdoors for long periods, he still looked somewhat youthful.

Shul shook his head and smiled at Jason's self-deprecating humor, saying, "No, I was just a little curious about how young you are."

After a brief handshake and greeting, we were led to a room where we sat facing each other. The staff member tactfully left and closed the door.

Jason spoke first, introducing himself: "My name is Jason. I used to pan for gold in the Bering Sea, and I only recently came to Australia. But don't worry, as long as you have real skills, your salary will definitely satisfy you!"

Jason doesn't care about empty rhetoric; as long as you have real skills, he's willing to pay you a high salary.

Hearing Jason's words, Shul raised an eyebrow and asked, "May I ask how much you plan to pay us each month?"

Jason replied, "The minimum salary is six thousand US dollars a month. The exact amount depends on your abilities. The more capable you are, the higher your salary will be. If you are not capable, then I can only apologize."

The Schuler father and son exchanged a glance and nodded slightly, both satisfied with the salary.

"We have no objection to the salary, but I believe you can see our relationship. We need to start working at the same time," Shul also made his request, his eyes fixed on Jason.

Jason nodded: "Okay, but let's be clear upfront. If you're not capable enough, then I'm sorry."

Jason doesn't care about the relationship between the two of them as long as he has the ability.

Shure and Denner breathed a sigh of relief, their tense faces breaking into smiles, and the atmosphere in the room instantly eased considerably.

Dana, who had been silent until now, spoke for the first time, confidently stating, "You can rest assured about that; my skills are absolutely top-notch!"

"Welcome to the team, both of you! Your salaries will be based on your abilities," Jason said, standing up to shake hands with the two and welcoming them to the team.

Jason then chatted with the two for a while, learning why they were still looking for jobs and agreeing on a start date.

Shure and his group are practically locals, having lived here for over twenty years, moving between several mines. The root cause of this major problem lies with Dana.

Having to work while also taking care of Denna caused many mines to reluctantly fire Shul, even though they appreciated his skills.

Later, as Dana grew up and went to school, Shul became more stable, but Dana was not cut out for school at all. He just coasted through high school and eventually started working in mechanical repair with Shul.

So, despite his young age, Dana is completely capable of mechanical repair and is highly experienced.

After agreeing on a time, the two shook hands with Jason to say goodbye.

The staff congratulated Jason, saying, "Mr. Jason, congratulations! It seems your gold-digging team is about to expand again."

"This is all thanks to your help, isn't it?" Jason said with a smile, finally relieved that the repairman had solved the problem.

"Thank you, Mr. Jason, for recognizing our work."

Both men understood each other implicitly. After settling the payment, the staff handed over another stack of resumes. "Mr. Jason, these are the driver information we recently found. You can take a look."

Jason didn't immediately look through them, but placed them beside him and asked, "Are these all available for immediate employment?"

"You can rest assured about that. We have already screened them in advance. The people you have are all ready to start work at any time, and they have excellent professional qualities and a good reputation in the industry." Obviously, they had anticipated Jason's question.

Jason had to admit that it was best to have professionals do professional work.

Upon opening the file, Jason's eyes fell upon a woman. He raised an eyebrow and looked at the staff member with a questioning gaze.

The staff member explained, "This is Tina. Although she's young, she's been working in the gold mining industry for quite some time. Her previous boss went bankrupt and is currently unemployed."

Jason nodded, looked at it for a while, then took out Tina's file and placed it on the left.

It's not discrimination; it's just that the gold mining industry is unique, often involving working day and night and facing immense pressure, which is why there are so few women in the gold mining industry.

As Jason continued to look through the documents, two stacks of files appeared on the table in front of him, one on the left and one on the right.

On the left is the one Jason eliminated.

The right side is what Jason can confirm at the moment, but the specifics will need to be determined after communicating with them.

"That's all for now. When can we arrange interviews for these people?" Jason asked, handing the selected information to a staff member.

The staff member didn't answer immediately. After flipping through the documents handed to him, he pulled one out and said, "Except for this person, everyone else can be scheduled before 3 PM."

Jason nodded: "Sure, you have my contact information. Call me when everyone's here."

It was still early, and Jason didn't plan to wait here any longer. He decided to take a stroll.

"Dolino, let's go." After saying goodbye to the staff, Jason called to Dolino and they left.

As a city, Bendigo has beautiful scenery, but it is not as bustling as the Australian coast. However, it has its advantages, namely, tranquility.

Dolino, as Albert's friend, followed Jason quietly like a bodyguard, without saying a word.

I already woke up late, and with the conversation with the Shul father and son, the little food I ate in the morning was already digested.

Rubbed his rumbling stomach, Jason asked, "Dolino, is there anything you want to eat?"

"I'm fine with anything," Dolino said succinctly.

The answer was simple, but it made Jason smack his lips and say helplessly, "Dolino, you've finally had a break, there's no need to keep holding back."

Dolino shrugged, a fleeting smile crossing his face before he reverted to his usual cold demeanor.

Jason sighed. "Fine, I'll decide."

Strolling along the streets, it was almost noon, and some restaurants were open for business.

Jason's gaze swept around and finally settled on the restaurant with the most diners.

"Let's go, we'll eat here."

The restaurant is nicely decorated, and a wonderful aroma greets you as soon as you enter.

Jason and his companion were led to their seats by a waiter.

"One lamb chop, one pasta dish, and one tiramisu, that's all," he ordered, gesturing for Dolino to order quickly.

After a long silence, Dolino said, "The same, I guess."

The food was served quickly.

There was no fancy plating; the plate held steaming hot lamb chops, the sizzling sound of the fat accompanied by the aroma, surrounded by some simple sauce and a few fried potato strips.

The pasta was also simple, with red sauce blending with the noodles and a few simple side dishes around it.

"Let's eat! Let's eat!" Jason called to Dolino, then picked up his fork and began to eat.

After entering the restaurant, Jason was no longer surprised that it attracted so many people.

After finishing his meal and enjoying dessert, Jason patted his stomach.

"Let's go out for a walk." After paying the bill, Jason took Dolino for a stroll on the street.

Jason always tries to buy some local delicacies to sample, and of course, he doesn't miss out on Dolino either.

Dolino watched Jason, who was constantly walking and talking, full of energy, and then looked at the burrito that had just been stuffed into his hand, and couldn't help but let out a burp.

He really couldn't understand how Jason, whose body wasn't particularly muscular, could eat so much food.

"Dolino, this tastes good, try it."

Dolino's lips twitched slightly. He waved the uneaten burrito in his hand and said helplessly, "Boss, that's enough. I'm already too full."

"Okay, then you hold this for me for now, and I'll let Brent and the others try it when we get back," Jason said, handing the delicious food to Dolino.

As they walked and shopped, Dolino's bags piled up. Seeing Jason ahead, holding a coffee and still searching for food, Dolino couldn't help but speak up.

"Boss, I think it's about time," he said, lifting the full bags he was carrying.

"Um," Jason said somewhat awkwardly, "Sorry, Dolino, I didn't expect to buy so many."

In my past life, I was very frugal with my meals. In this life, I've earned quite a bit of money, so I wanted to eat more delicious food. Anyway, the ingredients weren't expensive, so it wouldn't cost much. But I didn't expect to buy so much without realizing it.

Dolino joked, "Boss, why don't you help me out a bit?"

Although Jason is the boss, in Dolino's eyes, Jason is just a child who hasn't grown up yet. Although he usually looks mature, he is quite naive in some things.

Jason chuckled and reached for it, but Dolino refused. The food was all light and not a burden for someone who trained regularly.

I only said that to remind Jason.
