Chapter 75: Arrival of Personnel
Chapter 75: Arrival of Personnel
Time flies, and the two-day rest period is over in the blink of an eye.
On the morning of the third day, the familiar and noisy roar of machinery once again echoed through the mine.
Jason yawned and reeked of alcohol as he got out of bed. After washing up, he went straight to the kitchen to grab something to eat.
Last night, everyone returned to the mine, and to celebrate, a bonfire party was held again on the mine before work started. The others were fine, as they had to get up early to work the next day. It was Jason who suffered, as he was so drunk that he couldn't even remember how he got back to his room.
I took two sandwiches from the kitchen cooler, poured a glass of milk, placed them on a plate, and carried them to the eaves of the cabin.
"Jason, I confirmed with the production team a couple of days ago that two more cameramen will be coming in a couple of days," Cass said as he sat down on the stool next to Jason.
"Sure, you guys decide." Jason had no objection to Cass and the others' decision.
With more and more people now, it's common to see two photographers carrying cameras to film in the mine. They're exhausted by the end of the day. Clearly, with the increase in manpower, the two photographers can no longer keep up with the filming pace.
After receiving Jason's affirmative reply, Cass leaned back in his chair, relaxing considerably.
"Huh?" Jason asked, puzzled, looking at Cass's expression. "What's wrong with you?"
"It's nothing, I just wanted to relax for a while," Cass waved to indicate that he was fine.
Sitting under the eaves, a gentle breeze blows, and the sound of the swaying wind chimes mingles with the roar of machinery. The leaves rustle softly in the breeze.
Sunlight filters through the leaves, creating dappled patterns.
Everything looked peaceful and serene.
"Jason, you're not going to be guarding this mining area all the time, are you?"
Cass suddenly spoke, breaking the silence.
Jason swallowed the food in his mouth and looked at Cass with a strange expression. "Cass, why do you seem so odd today?"
Cass shrugged: "Jason, you're moving too fast. Many of my colleagues who are filming gold prospectors are still struggling to make ends meet, while you..."
He didn't say the rest, but he believed Jason could tell.
Especially during these two days of rest, they finally had some free time and learned about the situation of other gold prospectors.
It's fair to say that compared to the environment of their other colleagues, this place can be called paradise!
It's just too fast.
From a complete novice in the Bering Sea to owning a mine, Jason has crossed a social class that most gold prospectors never achieve in their entire lives in less than a year.
Sometimes, speed is not a good thing. Reaching the top in one step without experiencing hardship often leads to tragedy.
In just a few months, he had become friends with Jason, and he really didn't want this young man in front of him to become like most people and end up with nothing because of his pride and complacency.
Jason put down his breakfast and said, "Cass, I think we've been friends for the past few months, so you can just say what you want to say."
"Jason, as a friend, I suggest you slow down."
"You've had it too easy. Everything seems so destined. I've seen many people become rich overnight, but the results are never quite what they hoped for."
"What you have now is an achievement that many people cannot attain even after a lifetime of struggle."
"And I sense that you always have a sense of urgency, though of course, that might just be my imagination."
……
Cass said a lot, but the core of his concern was that Jason would follow in the footsteps of those who became rich overnight.
Jason was both amused and exasperated: "Cass, are you worried about losing your job?"
"Jason, I'm serious," Cass said, frowning with a serious expression.
Jason became much more serious and replied, "Cass, I understand what you're saying, but you can rest assured, I won't go bankrupt."
He had been tempered and honed by society in his previous life, and even though he has now achieved some financial freedom, he has not changed because of it.
"Thanks for the reminder anyway," Jason said, patting Cass on the shoulder before continuing his breakfast.
Cass didn't say anything more and sat quietly with Jason for a while.
"Boss, the person you interviewed a couple of days ago has arrived."
Dolino's voice broke the silence from the walkie-talkie.
Jason replied, "Dolino, just bring them in."
"It seems the news was indeed true; that old Nobel kid really did sell the mine."
"Our new boss seems to be quite capable; it must have cost Old Nobel a lot of money to acquire this mine."
A well-informed person said mysteriously, "I heard there are nearly seven thousand ounces of gold hidden beneath this mine."
"So many?!"
"Has old Nobel lost his mind? How could he sell such a good mine?!"
"Why else? Old Nobel's mines are bigger now, and he's making more money."
"I heard that our boss is a novice, but he's incredibly lucky. He bought this mine with gold he bought in Bering Straits."
"Are you kidding me? This mine is worth millions! With so much money to be made over in the Bering Sea, why would anyone come here to pan for gold?!"
"A friend of mine went there. There was a major accident there this year; I heard a lot of people died."
The group discussed it and followed Dolino to the residential area.
"Welcome, everyone."
Jason stood before the crowd to welcome them, then said, "Everyone, you can make your own arrangements in these rooms. Today, you can familiarize yourselves with the rooms, and tomorrow we'll officially begin work."
They picked up their luggage from their respective cars and gathered in familiar groups of two or three.
After packing up their belongings and tidying up their lodgings, they gathered in twos and threes and headed towards the gold panning site, which was under construction.
"Hello, I heard from the boss that you guys panned for over 400 ounces of gold in just one week last time, is that true?" a young gold prospector asked Swail curiously.
Swail grinned and emphasized, "Yes, 451.7 ounces, to be precise."
An elderly gold prospector looked around at the group of people working and asked, "How many hours a day do you work?"
Swail raised an eyebrow, understanding what he meant, but still replied, "About eight hours."
"Hiss~"
This answer made everyone present gasp in shock.
"Working eight hours a day, seven days a week, a total of fifty-six hours, yielding 451.7 ounces, that's almost eight ounces per hour! My God! That's so high!" A young gold prospector became more and more shocked as he calculated, and finally swore.
The new gold prospectors present were stunned by this number. They were all gold prospectors and knew very well what this number represented in the gold mining industry.
The new gold prospector, Nash, suddenly cursed, wailing, "Damn it! If I had known that Old Nobel's mine had such a high gold content, I would have taken out a loan to buy it!"
He was well-informed and knew that Old Nobel was going to sell his mine, but at the time he had no money and some concerns. Now that the facts are in front of him, it's impossible for him not to regret it.
At the work site, the new gold prospectors were also eager to get started, wishing they could begin working right away.
Gold is always a stimulant for these gold prospectors!
Those who had previously harbored doubts now completely dispelled them.
Seeing the excited crowd, Swell clapped his hands. "Everyone, you've just arrived today, so just follow the boss's instructions for now. We'll discuss things further when we get together tonight."
Some people were wandering around the mine.
Some went back to their rooms to rest.
But most people gathered around the construction site to learn about the mining process.
Cass and his team carried cameras and recorded everything in front of them.
Currently, Jason is the only one in the entire gold mining show who perfectly fits most people's imagination of a gold miner. Although the other gold miners are the reality of the gold mining industry, it is still a show. In the overall project evaluation, Jason has become the ace of the show!
A gold rush novice, only eighteen years old, reached the pinnacle of his life in just a few months. Such a program would definitely be a sensation!
The gold mining industry is already quite mysterious to most people, and now with Jason as an example, he can imagine that once the show airs, the gold mining industry will definitely see a large influx of newcomers aiming to emulate Jason.
"Take a good shot, make sure it's a good shot," Cass instructed.
Under the eaves, Jason lived a peaceful life.
Sipping coffee, flipping through books, and occasionally glancing up at the distant mine where people are working.
Lillian sat to the side, snacking, and remarked, "Jason, if you had this much perseverance when you were in school, you wouldn't have failed to get into college!"
"That's right, that's right," Ellie nodded in agreement, her mouth stuffed full like a little hamster's.
"Mother, I feel I should take myself as an example. Ellie's education is absolutely not something we can ignore," Jason glanced at Ellie and said righteously, "So, I've decided to find Ellie a tutor during her vacation. Don't worry, I'll pay for it!"
Ellie's expression froze instantly. Her mouth was stuffed full, and she couldn't speak. She gestured with her hands with a wronged expression.
This made Jason and Lillian laugh.
"Jason, I'm going to kill you!!!" After struggling to swallow the food in her mouth, Ellie screamed and charged straight at Jason.
