Gold Rush Starts in the Bering Sea

Chapter 87: Gold Rushers in the Yukon

Chapter 87: Gold Rushers in the Yukon

After waiting at home for two days and enjoying a delicious venison feast, Dolino and the others finally arrived.

After they had rested for a day, Jason said goodbye to Lillian.

After another round of transfers, Jason finally arrived in the legendary Yukon Territory.

Unlike the bustling gold rush in Australia, things here are much quieter.

Looking at the Yukon Territory, which was already covered in snow, Jason almost slapped himself.

I've thought everything through, except I forgot that the gold rush season here is over.

The gold rush season in the Yukon Territory and the Bering Sea is almost the same each year, since they are adjacent to each other. From October to April of the following year, it is impossible to work during this period.

"Let's go find a hotel to stay in first."

Since we're already here, Jason might as well take this opportunity to experience the local culture and scenery.

Upon arriving at the town's only hotel, Jason and his companions checked in and planned to explore the area.

The people in the town are nice, similar to those in the Bering Sea area. Most are short-term residents, and you only see a large flow of people during the gold rush season.

There are quite a few rental and repair shops for machinery and equipment here. After all, this area mainly uses mechanical mining, and over time, a corresponding industrial chain has been established.

"Mr. Jason, the producer from the 'Gold Rush' program just contacted you. He's here too. Would you like to meet him?" the cameraman asked Jason.

Jason had a big question mark on his head at this.

"I don't think I have anything to do with them," Jason frowned, wanting to know why.

The photographer explained, "It's like this, Mr. Jon knows the Gold Rush crew, and you told him you were coming to check this out, right? The Gold Rush crew has been filming here for a year now, so they know this area quite well, so..."

After the explanation, Jason understood the relationship.

I only asked him briefly at the time, but I didn't expect Jon Smith to take it so seriously. It would be impolite not to see him.

They agreed on a time and place, and eventually met at a restaurant.

"Hello, Mr. Jason, I'm Glenn from the Gold Rush program."

"Just call me Jason, no need to call me 'sir'."

After shaking hands and making brief introductions, Jason apologized, saying, "Mr. Glenn, I forgot about the situation here when I arrived. I didn't realize the gold rush season hadn't even started yet. I'm very sorry to have taken up your time."

"It's alright, Jason. Jon just told me about your situation. I didn't expect you to be so young and already a success," Glenn said with admiration.

If it weren't for the fact that the young man in front of him was told by his good friend, Glenn would never have known that there was such a magical and legendary person in him.

Having just come of age and only been panning for gold for six months, he started in the Bering Sea, then bought mines in Australia, and now has a stable output.

It can be said that this young man has successfully joined the ranks of the successful.

"Haha, Mr. Glenn, it's not as exaggerated as you say. I'm far from being a success," Jason said modestly.

The two chatted as they ate, and Glenn gave a brief introduction to their surroundings.

"Speaking of Jason, we also have a young man about your age on our show. Would you like me to introduce you?"

Upon hearing Glenn's words, Jason already knew who it was; unsurprisingly, it was Parker, the bigwig of the gold rush.

"Could you give me a brief introduction?" Jason asked, feigning curiosity.

"His name is Parker, he's also eighteen years old this year, and his family is also in the gold mining business, just like you, they come from a gold mining family," Glenn briefly introduced Parker's situation.

Jason thought to himself, "Just as I expected."

He knows it!

However, it still left Jason with a sense of disorientation, as if he were out of place with reality.

According to what he knew from his previous life, the Gold Rush program should have started preparations after the 08 financial crisis in the United States, and filming officially began in 10.

It's only 05 now, and although it will soon be 06, there's still a significant time difference compared to my previous life.

But when Jason thought about how the filming of the Bering Sea gold rush, which was supposed to start in 2011 in his previous life, had already begun in 05, he decided not to bother thinking about it anymore.

Just do what you normally would. If you can't figure it out, then stop thinking about it. Anyway, it won't affect him much.

Since we can no longer find our past selves and family members in this world, a slight time difference is nothing.

"Mr. Glenn, there's no need for introductions. I need to finish my inspection here and head back to Australia. I wonder if it would be possible for someone familiar with the area to guide us through the local mines?" Jason, recalling the footage he had filmed in his previous life, declined directly.

Arrogant, eccentric, irrational, unwilling to listen to advice, prone to temper tantrums, and so on.

In his previous life, eighteen-year-old Parker was labeled with numerous tags, and that was under the camera's lens. One can only imagine what he looked like without the camera.

He doesn't follow celebrities, and he has no interest in getting to know Parker, who hasn't yet become the king of the Yukon.

"That's a real shame," Glenn said regretfully, but did not refuse Jason's request. "Then I won't take up any more of your time. I'll have someone familiar with the area contact you later. I wish you a successful inspection."

"Thank you, Mr. Glenn."

After parting ways, Jason took Dolino and Noges for a stroll around the town.

The entire town is nestled in the mountains, surrounded by trees, and in the distance, you can see several snow-capped mountains.

The town is small and has a small population, but it has everything you need.

There are clinics, schools, hotels, and restaurants.

But the majority are still those who work in the equipment industry related to gold mining.

After wandering around for a while, we didn't find anything interesting, but Jason and his group attracted a lot of attention.

"A new face, doesn't look like they're here for tourism."

"They're probably gold prospectors. Didn't you see they have two bodyguards following behind? And what's that guy with the camera doing? Are they filming some kind of TV show?"

"Who cares? Probably just some rich kid messing around again."

······

It wasn't that Jason and his group were being high-profile; it was just that they were quite eye-catching, especially Dolino and Noges, whose obvious military bearing was particularly striking.

Glenn's group had also arranged a time to meet Jason and his group, and they would just follow his instructions.

Jason came here with the mindset of having fun, not to mention that he can't strike it rich right now, so he's even more determined to have a good time.

The next morning, after meeting up with the others, Jason and his group got into the car.

"Hello, I'm Jason."

Rubeus introduced himself succinctly: "Hello, Rubeus, I'm here to guide you, sent by Mr. Glenn."

"You're too kind. It seems Mr. Rupert is very familiar with this area. Are you a local?" Jason asked curiously.

Rupert laughed and said, "I'd say I'm half a local, just that I've been here a bit longer."

As Rupert drove, he talked to Jason while glancing at the two vigilant bodyguards in the rearview mirror, which further confirmed his belief that Jason was a rich second-generation heir.

"Mr. Jason, are you here for tourism?" Rupert asked tentatively.

"I guess so, it's just that I didn't time it right," Jason said with an awkward smile. "I originally wanted to check out the mines here, but I realized the timing was wrong after I arrived."

Well, another newbie who knows nothing but wants to strike it rich.

Rupert barely managed to keep from rolling his eyes; after all, it was just work, and it would only be a few days, he could just bear it.

"Rupert, how much do the mine owners usually charge here?" Since he was already there, Jason figured he might as well find out.

"The commission rates range from 10% to 30%, with many offering tiered commissions, but quite a few people go bankrupt every year because of gold mining," Rupert said casually, giving a brief overview of the situation.

As they talked, Rupert also mentioned some local conditions.

As the road conditions worsened, the car began to sway from side to side.

After driving for more than an hour, the car stopped in front of a house, and Jason, who was dizzy from the swaying, was finally able to catch his breath.

Rupert explained to Jason, "This is the most recent gold prospector. They live here year-round and are considered quite powerful mine owners."

Smoke curled up from the chimney, melting much of the snow on the roof, and the melted snow dripped down the eaves.

Fortunately, the weather was quite cold, and the ground was frozen solid; otherwise, the soles of my shoes would have been covered in a thick layer of mud in no time.

Jason and the others didn't go inside. Rupert went up to talk to them instead. Although they couldn't hear what was being said, the conversation seemed to be going smoothly, judging from the smiles on both sides.

Not long after, Rupert gave an OK sign. "Let's go. It's all settled. I'm quite familiar with this mine, so I'll show you around."

"However," Rupert hesitated, looking at Jason, "the road ahead is a bit difficult. Are you alright?"

Jason didn't say anything and got into the car.

After a bumpy ride, led by Lu Bo, they arrived at the edge of a mine pit that was more than ten meters deep.

"Isn't it spectacular?" Rubeus laughed. "Actually, despite the huge mine, the annual harvest here is actually quite meager, and it might even be unprofitable."

Detection range: 15 meters (upgradeable: 1 meter for every 100 ounces)

[Detection depth: 23 meters (upgradeable to 100 ounces, or 1 meter higher)]

[Estimated weight: 27.4 ounces]

[Upgradeable gold ounces: 281.05 ounces]

[Note: Gold does not absorb energy; it is only used for upgrading purposes, and its value remains unaffected.]

[Note: Only gold discovered through exploration using one's own methods is of useful value.]

Looking at the results he had obtained, Jason asked curiously, "Why didn't you dig somewhere else? It must be difficult to dig here."

At such a deep depth, who knows when the land will thaw? And with so much effort and time involved, it's no wonder they say it might end up costing more than it earns.

"I don't know what he was thinking, but they've just decided to stick with this place," Rupert said, shrugging with a speechless expression.

Jason didn't understand it, but he respected it.

If this were his own mine, Jason would just pack up and leave.

The mining is difficult, the gold content is low, and it's questionable whether the gold produced can cover the labor and fuel costs.

He would absolutely never open a mine like that!
