Gold Rush Starts in the Bering Sea

Chapter 93: Time Adjustment

Chapter 93: Time Adjustment

"Hmm? Is production halted today, or is the equipment broken?"

Upon waking up, Swell didn't hear the familiar roar of machinery and instantly became fully awake.

It was already close to evening, and he usually set his alarm an hour earlier than everyone else, even though the day shift should have been working at that time.

Pushing open the door, and seeing everyone resting in the shade, Swil rubbed his eyes, wondering if he was still half asleep.

"Swell, you're awake," Brent greeted him with a forced smile.

"What's wrong? Did something happen?"

Swail glanced around at the people resting in the shade, but didn't notice anything amiss. He couldn't help but be puzzled by Brent's forced smile.

Brent opened his mouth, but finally said dryly, "Jason is looking for you."

Although he didn't know what had happened, Brent's expression made Swell frown.

Cass, carrying a camera, followed closely, his face beaming with excitement. He had originally planned to have Jason cooperate in filming footage, and now the footage was finally here!

"Jason, what do you need me for?" Swail asked as he approached Jason.

Jason, who had been lying on the recliner, sat up and said to Swail, "Swiel, sit down first."

After Swail was seated, Jason handed him a cigar.

The two men puffed on their cigarettes, neither of them speaking.

Not far away, Brent's heart was in his throat, feeling a sense of unease before the storm.

Cass, carrying the camera, kept the lens tightly focused, secretly hoping they would start cursing and fighting.

Jason has always maintained a calm and collected demeanor, with very few emotional fluctuations. It's not that he's a bad person, but for a TV show, he lacks any dramatic moments.

Now that we finally have this opportunity, we absolutely cannot miss it!

Swell, puffing on his cigar, looked at the silent Jason and couldn't help but ask again, "Jason, just tell me what's wrong. I'm so old, what haven't I experienced?"

From Brent's strange expression to the fact that he didn't have work on the day shift today, he already had a bad feeling.

But having lived for so many years and experienced so much, he still maintains a very calm mindset.

"Swell, I think we need to adjust our daytime work hours. After all, you're a local, so you should know the daytime temperatures here in Australia during the summer."

"Besides, you should know that quite a few people die from heatstroke here every year, right?"

Jason paused, then continued, "Swell, I've entrusted everything at the mine to you. Corinna got heatstroke a few days ago; why didn't you adjust her work hours then?"

If the first two sentences are euphemistic expressions, then this last sentence is a direct and explicit statement.

Although the tone wasn't particularly harsh, the meaning was clear: you, Swell, haven't done your job properly!

Swail fell silent, took a few deep puffs of his cigar, shook his head, and said with a wry smile, "Jason, I want to apologize first. It was indeed my fault."

"Don't worry, it won't happen again."

If it wasn't done well, it wasn't done well; Swell didn't bother looking for excuses.

Hearing this, Jason's furrowed brows did not relax. He stared intently at Swail and said, "Swiel, I don't usually like to find fault with people. You should know my temper."

"You're in charge of the overall situation."

"I'm giving you this authority so you can manage the entire team effectively."

"To me, you're a local, you have years of experience panning for gold here, and you know the situation very well."

"But to be honest, you've disappointed me a bit this time."

Jason didn't say anything harsh; he just expressed his feelings.

"Jason, don't worry, I know what to do. If this happens again, I'll just pack my bags and leave without you even having to tell me!" Swail assured him firmly.

Jason, whose face had been tense the whole time, nodded.

Fortunately, only some people suffered from heatstroke, and no major accidents occurred.

"Okay, that's settled then. You can make decisions directly for anything that comes up in the future," Jason said decisively, effectively putting the matter behind them.

Brent, who had been watching the two closely, immediately felt relieved and let out a heavy sigh of relief.

Cass was slightly disappointed. "Let's start arguing, let's start fighting! You've only just come of age, an eighteen-year-old boy, do you have to be so mature!"

The people around them instantly felt the tense atmosphere ease, and they started talking a little louder.

Everyone knew why Jason was angry, after all, he hadn't hidden his conversation with Brent. To be honest, they were quite satisfied with Jason as their boss.

The food was good, the beer and drinks were all excellent, and the accommodations were fully equipped.

In this kind of high temperature weather, although it's not explicitly stated, it's inevitable to feel irritable at work.

Before his anger could be suppressed to the extreme and explode, Jason had already discovered and quickly resolved the situation.

"This kid's not bad, I like him."

"Indeed, there are very few bosses like that in all of Australia."

"I'm quite old now, and I've worked in many mines. As for our boss, I can say with certainty that he's absolutely number one!"

"Raul, are we going to be shortchanged on our wages?"

"What's the rush? You'll find out in a minute."

·······

The group started discussing it, with some praising it and others worrying about the possibility of reduced working hours and lower wages.

If we were to ask who among everyone had the most complex feelings, it would definitely be Eric.

Jason also called Brent and Andy over, and the four of them discussed how to allocate work hours and how to define rest time.

Half an hour later, based on Swail's many years of experience living locally, the group divided their work hours.

"Andy, Brent, from now on, you guys in the class should make your own decisions if you can, and let Swail make the decisions if you can't."

"If you haven't come up with a solution yet, tell me, and I'll make the decision!"

Finally, Jason emphasized it to the group once again.

At dinner time, Jason clapped his hands, and when everyone's eyes were on him, he said apologetically, "Everyone, first of all, I want to apologize to you all, especially those of you who worked during the day."

"As you all know, the daytime weather lately has been incredibly hot."

"So this afternoon we discussed it and decided to change everyone's working hours."

"Everyone rests from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m."

"From 4 PM to 11:30 PM, this time will be handled by Swail's team."

"Brent and Andy will be in charge from 11:30 p.m. to 11:00 a.m. the next day."

"Each team's working hours will be 9.5 hours. As for the salary..."

Jason smiled and shouted, "Unchanged!"

"I love you, boss!"

"Long live the boss!"

"Boss, you're the most handsome!"

Several young people started making a fuss, instantly filling the restaurant with a lively atmosphere.

He clapped his hands, subdued the troublemakers, and jokingly said to everyone, "Hurry up and eat. Don't forget you're working for me. After you finish eating, get back to work."

"Also, Andy and Brent's team, set your alarms. I don't want Swail kicking down the door to wake you up for your shift."

These words immediately made everyone laugh.

"Boss, don't worry, we'll definitely set the alarm."

"Exactly, we absolutely won't give Swail a chance to kick down the door."

"Then I'd better get dressed properly before I go to sleep, so that Swell doesn't take advantage of me."

After making a fuss for a while, I set my alarm and quickly went to rest.

Tonight is destined to be a tough night for everyone.

Once the biological clock has finally adjusted and become normal again, it will inevitably take time to adjust.

After finishing his meal, Albert came over to Jason, patted him on the shoulder, and said with satisfaction, "I heard about what happened this afternoon. Well done!"

Jason smiled and said, "It's alright."

"Ha, you little rascal," Albert chuckled and shook his head.

Albert remained noncommittal about Jason's handling of the situation, saying that everyone makes mistakes, but this didn't prevent any irreversible consequences.

Of course, once is enough, twice is not. If such a situation were to occur again, Albert would not mind playing the villain.

Sometimes, business is just business!
