Chapter 97: The Company's Early Days
Chapter 97: The Company's Early Days
Jason is very busy.
They were so busy they were dizzy.
According to the mine workers, Jason has been frequently away from home lately, sometimes for several days at a time.
To those who don't know him, they would only assume that Jason goes out for fun every time he goes out, which makes them very envious.
But Albert and Ada, who knew the situation, felt a pang of heartache. Although Jason always greeted everyone with a smile when he came back, his face was visibly tired.
After returning to the mine, I ate a simple meal and spent most of my time catching up on sleep in my room.
Fortunately, after working for more than half a month, Jason finally got the company up and running.
There were only seven people.
Manager: Charlie Price (Jason's tool)
Finance: Catherine
Office staff: Dari, Gray, Kara, Ferry
Accountant: Elaine
In addition, there's Jason himself.
Apart from Charlie, who has experience working on Wall Street, the others are all local Australian professionals. They are capable, but far from being top-tier.
In Sidney, Jason also rented an office for his company, since it's considered one of the more developed areas in Australia.
Jason directly deposited ten million US dollars into the company account when the company was established, for investment purposes.
Charlie, the company manager, sat in his office, gazing at the scenery outside the window, seemingly doing nothing.
As a middle-aged man in his early forties, he was well aware of his own abilities. Moreover, during the interview, Jason made it clear to him that he didn't need to make any decisions; he just needed to execute according to Jason's plans and requirements. Apart from that, the company was entirely under his management.
Although in his view, the newly established investment company was a complete makeshift operation.
But what can you do when the boss pays a decent wage?
He's already quite satisfied, considering he's just a tool in the company and his salary isn't low.
"Boss"
"Boss"
The noise outside brought Charlie back to his senses, and he quickly straightened his clothes.
After greeting everyone and handing them the coffee he had just bought, Jason called Charlie to his office.
Jason closed the door, handed Charlie a coffee, and said, "Sit down, let's talk about the company's future direction."
After they sat down, the two faced each other. Charlie took a sip of his coffee and didn't say anything. A tool should be a tool.
"Charlie, are you familiar with Facebook?" Jason got straight to the point.
Charlie thought for a moment and said, "I've looked into it. This company has been doing quite well lately and is planning a Series B funding round. Boss, you're not planning to get involved, are you?"
Jason nodded immediately. "Yes, I have that idea."
"Boss, when a company seeks financing, besides the money itself, the most important thing is the help that the corresponding investment company can provide. We..." Charlie carefully chose his words, afraid of displeasing Jason.
Jobs are hard to find, and jobs like this, with little work but high pay, are even harder to find. He doesn't want to be fired after only two days on the job.
Although Charlie didn't say it explicitly, the meaning was clear, and Jason naturally understood it.
Facebook's value lies not only in its future market capitalization, but also in its role as a new media channel!
With substantial returns on investment and control over online dissemination, Jason will not give up as long as there is even the slightest possibility.
Looking at Charlie, Jason asked, "I'm just a purely financial investor. Could we try signing a co-executive agreement with the founders?"
"We can give it a try, but boss, the chances aren't very high," Charlie said through gritted teeth, his face full of difficulty.
Even that was an exaggeration; if the hope wasn't very high, then there was practically no hope at all.
Good projects never lack capital, let alone such hot projects, which are in high demand.
"Then let's give it a try!"
Jason made the decision immediately, saying to Charlie, "We'll set off in the next couple of days."
"Okay, boss."
The boss had already made the decision, so what could he say but nod in agreement?
Without further ado, the two of them took Dolino and boarded a plane to the United States the next day.
After landing, Jason and his two companions took a short rest and then headed straight for their destination—156 Palo Alto. When the familiar logo from the previous life appeared in Jason's eyes, he knew he had come to the right place.
"Sir, do you have an appointment?" The receptionist faithfully performed her duties.
Jason shook his head. "Sorry, we didn't have an appointment. We're from Jason Investment. We heard your company is going through its Series B funding round, so we came here because we've heard about you."
Charlie's lips twitched slightly.
That's really, really too honest.
He really didn't know what to say to his young boss.
Where is this? This is Silicon Valley!
It's a place where shrewd and intelligent people gather, so it's practically worthless here, and even a drawback.
"Sir, could you please leave your business card? I'll give your information to our boss, and I'll contact you if there's any news." The receptionist maintained her polite smile, but it held a deeper meaning.
Jason frowned slightly: "Can't we arrange a meeting to discuss this in detail?"
"Sorry, sir" was not explicitly stated, but the meaning was clear.
Charlie approached Jason with a smile and said, "Madam, I'll register. But how long will it take to get a reply?"
"Sir, this is not something I can decide."
Charlie shrugged and raised an eyebrow. "I understand. I hope we'll have a chance to meet again."
Jason remained silent, waiting quietly for Charlie to register.
"Shouldn't you write down the 'Concerted Executor' clause?" Jason suddenly interjected, causing the receptionist next to him to look up at Jason as well.
She had thought Jason was an assistant, but she was surprised to find that the real decision-maker was this young man.
Charlie closed his pen and nodded. "Boss, it's written."
"Then let's go."
"Then we'll be leaving. We'll be here for the next couple of days, hoping to receive a call from Mr. Zack," Charlie nodded politely to the receptionist, then followed Jason out of the room.
Standing on the street, looking at the huge logo, Jason's brows remained furrowed.
I knew it wouldn't be easy, but I didn't expect to be met with such a cold shoulder before even seeing the person.
Charlie, standing to the side, smiled and comforted Jason, "Boss, this is normal. When I first started here, I ran into countless obstacles."
Jason rubbed his temples, suppressing his frustration, and said, "Let's find a place to wait for two days. If there's no news after two days, we'll move on to another target."
They found a hotel nearby and Jason and his two companions stayed there.
There are no densely packed high-rise buildings here; the overall architecture is distributed in a low-density, dispersed pattern.
The people coming and going weren't dressed in suits; most were casually dressed in simple T-shirts and jeans, holding coffee or drinks, and walking with a slightly hurried pace.
Vitality, progress, and ideals intertwine here, and everyone who comes here is striving for their own ideals.
Over the past two days, Jason and his two companions strolled around the area and sampled the local cuisine.
My phone is on 24/7, but I haven't received any messages.
During dinner, Charlie savored his meal and asked Jason, "Boss, should we wait?"
"Let's wait one more day and ask around. If it doesn't work out, we'll find another company to invest in."
Jason was still a little unwilling to give up. If he wanted to catch this fast train, he would need a little patience, which would only take a day.
Charlie didn't speak, but shook his head slightly.
He had also looked into Facebook; it was quite well-known on Wall Street. As far as he knew, many famous investment firms were paying attention to this round of financing, but given their current situation, it would be difficult!
It's almost impossible!
A company that is on the rise and has been recognized by many large investment firms will consider more than just money when seeking financing; it will also consider other important factors.
Clearly, they cannot provide these.
On Facebook, Zack also received a visit appointment from the receptionist.
Jason Investment
"Pure financial investment"
"No board seat required"
"A contract for the concerted executor can be signed."
As Zack looked at the words written on it, a playful expression, a rare sight on his usually robotic face, appeared.
"Ina, do you remember this place?" she said, pointing to the spot where Jason and the others had registered.
Ina thought for a moment, then nodded and said, "Boss, according to the receptionist, the boss of this company is very young and has been living nearby these past few days. Should I contact them?"
He tapped his fingers lightly, looked at the registration form, and shook his head. "No need, just have the receptionist tell them."
The writing was very tempting, but now was far from the time for him to consider these things. A small investment company he had never even heard of could not provide nearly as much support as those large investment companies.
They're useless to the company's development; in his eyes, they're just a pile of garbage!
Trash should stay in the trash can.
What intrigued him was what kind of company had the audacity to try and steal food from those large investment firms.
It was merely out of curiosity, and Jason Investment's name was quickly forgotten by him.
At most, it added some spice to his life, but it was far from enough to make him remember it.
"Okay, I understand. I'll pass it on to our boss."
On the third day, Charlie also received a call from the front desk.
Jason asked, "What do you mean?"
"Rejected"
"Heh~"
Jason chuckled softly, which was exactly what he expected, and he didn't feel much emotional fluctuation.
It can only be said that catching this ride was more difficult than he had imagined.
"Then let's try another one. Do you know Elon Musk?"
Jason's words made Charlie look up abruptly, his face full of surprise. "Boss, are you talking about Musk, the guy from Tesla and SpaceX?"
Jason raised an eyebrow and chuckled, "Looks like you're well-informed on Wall Street."
