Chapter 108 The First Lady
Chapter 108 The First Lady
The cheers were deafening!
At this moment, the crowd was filled with fervor!
At that moment, the angry roar of the crowd was deafening, shattering the doors and windows of the city hall, as if a storm was brewing.
And in this world, what is the most infuriating thing?
It's undeniably unfair!
Gia's speech tore open a corner, allowing those who were half-awake to see a glimpse of the truth—just a glimpse.
Meanwhile, Lowell almost stumbled and fell when he saw the famous scene before him; that deep-seated fear seemed to rise up again.
In the instant his body fell, time seemed to stretch infinitely, becoming immeasurable. In that brief moment of disorientation, Lowell saw countless hallucinations. He saw an enraged mob storm the manor, looting everything the family owned, burning his father to death, and hanging him from the walnut tree by the gate. His mother, his sister, everything he had was reduced to ashes in the fire…
He pleaded, he knelt, he cried, but it was no use; the cold spear still pierced his neck.
Finally, unable to withstand the stimulation, his body went limp and he collapsed.
"Young Master Lowell!"
The others scrambled to their feet, but managed to help Lowell up. Then, a car arrived, and the group hurriedly left.
On the other side, after Gia finished her speech, she bowed deeply to the audience before slowly retreating.
When she arrived backstage, she spotted Luther immediately, ran over quickly, and threw herself into his arms like a little girl.
"Luther, darling, how am I doing?"
Luther nodded: "This is the best speech I have ever heard, second only to my comrades."
"Wow!" Jia didn't care at all. She was already very satisfied with this compliment, after all, she was a newbie as well.
"Without you, I wouldn't dare go on stage, let alone speak! I'm so scared!"
Luther stroked her face, then touched her back and hair, and noticed that Gia's clothes were wet and her hair was covered with fine beads of sweat. It was clear that she had been very nervous, but thankfully she had overcome it.
At this moment, Johnny Jr. came up, presented a bouquet of flowers, and gave Gia a thumbs-up, saying:
"Sister, you're absolutely right! You'll definitely become the First Lady someday!"
Little Kennedy was innocent and didn't care, so Gia didn't take it to heart. However, Catherine glanced at him and said sarcastically:
"John, your brother-in-law is German, you fool."
"Catherine!"
Johnny got angry immediately. It was fine for his brother-in-law and sister to make fun of him, but now even he dared to come up and mock him. He immediately put down his things and went to chase after his sister.
At this moment, old Joseph and his wife came up and embraced Gia very affectionately.
Mrs. Ross said with a face full of affection, "Oh, Gia, my daughter, you've been a great help to the family this time."
Jia nodded, simply telling her mother that it was what she should do, her tone neither sad nor happy.
When it was old Joseph's turn, the father and daughter embraced. Looking at his daughter now, the usually aloof old Joseph was somewhat moved. Recalling his neglect of his daughter over the years, he couldn't help but feel guilty.
"Jia, I'm so proud of you. You're such a good daughter."
"Thank you, Father."
That evening, old Joseph was in a great mood and made an exception to exempt the family dinner from the quiz, much to the relief of his children.
Dinner was lavish; the French chef prepared over 30 dishes, which dazzled Luther. How could he possibly finish them all?
After dinner, old Joseph and Mrs. Rose went to a banquet together, where a victory celebration was to be held.
Daniel went to the club after dinner. He had to work on his manuscript with Hemingway that night. John F. Kennedy Jr. had played too wildly during the day and was so sleepy before 10 p.m. that he fell fast asleep.
In the end, only Luther and his wife were left. In the courtyard under the moonlight, the two held hands, embraced, and said sweet nothings.
"Luther, I don't know how I met you, it's all so...wonderful..."
Jia smiled slightly, then gave her husband another kiss. The moonlight shone on her skirt, reflecting an indescribable radiance.
She had never felt so happy, being cared for, protected, and held so tenderly in someone's arms.
No one is born strong; most of the time, they are forced into it. Now, Jia has come to a profound understanding of this.
"Luther, don't close the door tonight!"
"What's wrong?"
Jia blushed: "I'll come and sleep here."
Upon hearing this, Luther was overjoyed and hugged Gia tightly, pressing their bodies together so that there was no gap between them.
"So, does that mean I can do whatever I want?" he asked with a smile.
"No!"
Jia didn't explain, and skipped away.
Under the moonlight, the walnut trees in the courtyard stood in clusters, and as a gentle breeze blew, their branches and leaves trembled, as if someone were dancing gracefully.

On the other side of Boston, the scene takes a completely different turn.
Before the next day even arrived, the whole of Boston was in an uproar that very night.
Although the city's masters are the WASPs, who firmly control the upper class, occupy almost all the land and wealth, and possess absolute authority and power, they simply can't compete with the sheer number of people they have!
WAPs are never afraid of those struggling at the bottom; the more they do, the more they earn. What they truly fear is those at the bottom learning the truth.
Gia's speech had already touched upon the truth, albeit subtly.
In the darkness, a small flame had been ignited, but the old wasps were on high alert.
"Damn it! Damn old Joseph! Damn little bitch!"
"What should we do? Her speech was very successful this time, and many communities that originally supported us are starting to waver."
"I didn't expect old Joseph to handle things this way. Couldn't we send our own children?"
Upon hearing this, Lowell II glanced at little Lowell, who had just woken up, and couldn't help but shake his head and sigh.
This guy grew up with me, living in a villa in Switzerland, eating Argentinian steaks, wearing French fashion, and even drinking from the finest Chinese porcelain cups. He's never suffered any hardship.
How can someone who has never suffered understand the suffering of others? They simply cannot empathize with it.
Lowell shook his head, then said to the team:
"Remember, starting tomorrow, there can be no news about Kennedy in Boston!"
As a veteran WASP, Lowell understood the principles of communication well: no matter how well you give a speech, it's useless if it doesn't get out.
In Boston today, almost all newspapers listen to their own circles; as long as you give advance notice, no one will report it.
If no one reports it, no one will know, and whether it's true or not becomes irrelevant.
After all, justice is always delayed, isn't it?
