Chapter 722 - 722: Gary vs. Nick

Nick looked surprised. He hadn't expected Gary to challenge them all."Hannah and Garke are maintenance personnel and aren't responsible for battling. If you want to fight, just fight Angus and me," Nick said.

Gary looked at Angus. It seemed the two of them were responsible for security in the team, while Professor Sada, Hannah, and Garke were all responsible for research and repairs.

Hearing that Gary still wanted to fight him, Angus said seriously, "Brat, if you want to fight me, you should defeat Nick first."

Gary thought Angus had an honest personality, but he didn't expect this guy to be so crazy too.

An orange-red Charizard appeared.

An irresistible force launched Incineroar's body backwards, drawing a graceful arc across the sky before it crashed into the ground.

Incineroar couldn't get up again; its eyes were swirling.

"My god, a one-hit KO!"

"So strong!"

Hannah and Garke were both shocked.

Angus frowned, visibly confused. He hadn't expected Nick's Incineroar to be taken out in a single blow by Charizard.

Nick's Incineroar had Intimidate, which had lowered Charizard's physical attack, and yet it was still punched out in seconds. This meant the level gap between the two sides was massive.

"Is this your confidence?" Gary asked.

"Grr...!"

Nick gritted his teeth, but could only spit out the word "You—!" He couldn't even finish the sentence. Being instantly defeated was simply too humiliating.

"Why don't you send out all your remaining Pokémon so I can get a deeper understanding of your strength?" Gary suggested.

"Hmph! I was just careless; the battle isn't over yet," Nick responded, dissatisfied, and sent out his second Pokémon.

"Talonflame, go!"

[LV60 Talonflame / Elite]

"SKREEEE!"

A sleek, falcon-like Pokémon burst from the Poké Ball, its fiery red-and-orange plumage trailing embers as it took to the air.

Although Nick's Pokémon's levels weren't great, their potential was still good. Having two Pokémon in a row with Elite-level potential meant this guy was quite lucky—but unfortunately, it was just Elite potential.

After all, he could never reach the top with that.

"Talonflame, Charizard is very strong; use your speed to win. Agility!" Nick ordered.

Talonflame darted across the field. Its figure kept flashing and vanishing as its speed skyrocketed.

"Cover the entire field with a vortex of flames," Gary ordered.

Charizard took to the sky with Dual Wingbeat, then rained down a massive torrent of fire from above. The huge flames descended from all sides, encircling the entire battlefield.

"What?!" Nick was shocked and immediately ordered: "Talonflame, rush out!"

Talonflame shot toward one side, slamming against the flame wall. The wall of fire tried to swallow it whole, but Talonflame was fierce—flames erupted from its own body, and it forced its way through the inferno, escaping the fiery cage.

Seeing Talonflame break free, Nick finally breathed a sigh of relief.

The next second, a shadow enveloped Talonflame.

Talonflame turned its head slightly and saw Charizard bearing down on it.

"Thunder Punch!" Gary ordered.

"GRAAAH!"

Charizard's electrified fist slammed into Talonflame, hammering it straight into the ground.

Talonflame cratered into the earth and fainted instantly.

Nick: "...!"

"Surrender. You're too weak," Gary said coldly.

I thought Nick would have some decent strength if he could become a member of the Explorers, but I didn't expect him to be this weak. I overestimated him.

Nick's face turned red. He hadn't expected to be beaten like this by a kid.

"Nick, step down. You're not a match for him," Angus spoke up.

Seeing that Angus had spoken, Nick accepted his fate and said, "I lost."

Seeing that Nick gave in, Gary didn't continue to make things difficult for him. He recalled Charizard into its Poké Ball, then looked at Angus and asked, "Do you want to come and have a spar with me?"

"No need. Your strength is completely qualified. I apologize on Nick's behalf," Angus said.
