Chapter 846: Uncle's Fair Words
Chapter 846: Uncle's Fair Words
"Ahem," Uncle Zeng Jiahua coughed lightly twice.
"As your brother-in-law, I'd like to say a few words. You don't have any objections, do you?" As he said this, Zeng Jiahua specifically looked at his eldest sister, Zeng Lijuan, and her husband, Lao Huang.
"You said it! You're my maternal uncle, and no matter how big the world is, my maternal uncle is the greatest. Besides, you raised Xiao Chuan from a young age." Seeing that her younger brother was going to say something, Zeng Lijuan, as the eldest sister, naturally had to support him.
Unexpectedly, Zeng Jiahua's first words were in favor of his nephew: "I think Xiao Chuan's words make a lot of sense. As the old saying goes, starting a business is easy, but maintaining it is difficult. Xiao Chuan has achieved what he has today entirely on his own. To be honest, he is much better than us old guys. Therefore, some of his ideas are naturally different from ours. Otherwise, how could his business have grown so big? To be honest, I think it's a bit early to decide on the issue of passing the business down to sons and daughters. Xiao Chuan is right. The most important thing now is to raise the two children well."
Zeng Jiahua's words, coupled with Huang Xiaochuan's earlier remarks, caused some people's beliefs to waver.
But Lao Huang still insisted on his own idea: "Jiahua, what you said is indeed reasonable, but reason is reason and rules are rules. Don't try to smooth things over, don't you agree?" After saying that, he gave Zeng Jiahua a meaningful look.
Zeng Jiahua naturally understood the meaning behind Old Huang's look—it was a reminder to him not to meddle! He only had two daughters in his life, so when his nephew Huang Xiaochuan was young, he had considered adopting him. Why did he have such an idea? It was because he wanted a boy to carry on the Zeng family line. However, he gave up the idea because of Old Huang's strong opposition. Later, his nephew understood his uncle's feelings and adopted one of the two sons born to that woman in Singapore to the Zeng family, thus settling his mind.
The words and look that her brother-in-law Lao Huang had just given her were a reminder not to talk nonsense. Fine! Then she wouldn't say anything more. With that thought, Zeng Jiahua simply stopped talking.
Auntie was perfectly aware of what was going on. She took her husband's hand and squeezed it tightly to show her concern. After so many years of marriage, Zeng Jiahua could naturally sense this. He smiled at his auntie to indicate that he didn't take it to heart. The elderly couple held hands and comforted each other.
Huang Xiaochuan naturally saw everything and couldn't help but feel sorry for the two elders. He smiled at his uncle and aunt to comfort them.
It seems this topic can't be continued. He doesn't seem to mind; it's not something urgent anyway. It wouldn't be good if his thoughts caused the older folks to fall out.
"Dad! What you said makes sense. I will listen to your opinions and consider this matter carefully. Anyway, Xiaodong and Xiaoduo are still young. I was just thinking about it randomly and haven't made any decision yet." Huang Xiaochuan used delaying tactics.
"Alright, I have a lot of work to do this afternoon. If there's nothing else, I'll be going now." Huang Xiaochuan decided it was best to leave early, but he didn't forget to ask Yu Xiang, "Do you want to come with me?"
Yu Xiang originally wanted to say that it wasn't necessary and that she would walk by herself, but her elderly mother, Zheng Aiying, gave her a look that made her change her mind.
"it is good."
As usual, Huang Xiaochuan said goodbye to his elders one by one. When he got to his aunt, the old lady whispered a special reminder: "Don't fight when you get back. Discuss things together."
"Okay, I know!" Huang Xiaochuan agreed with a smile, and reassured his aunt.
After getting into the car, the couple remained silent for several minutes without saying a word.
"I"
"you"
After a moment of silence, the two spoke at the same time.
"You go first," Huang Xiaochuan said, letting Yu Xiang speak first.
"I know you're angry with me, and you're probably blaming me for telling my parents and your parents about that."
Huang Xiaochuan waved his hand dismissively: "Don't overthink it. I think it's normal for us to have different opinions on some things. Do you think you can find two people in this world who are exactly the same?"
He paused for a moment, then continued, "The reason for our disagreement is that our starting points are different. There's no right or wrong. I know you're also doing this for Xiaodong and Xiaoduo, so at least our goals are the same, don't you think?"
Yu Xiang was taken aback. Through these words and some past events, she realized that her man's maturity was far greater than she had imagined.
However, just to be sure, she asked again, "You're really not angry?"
Huang Xiaochuan patted Yu Xiang's leg to comfort her: "Don't you know me? If I were really angry with you, why would I be talking to you so much?"
Yu Xiang was relieved. Indeed, when her man was angry, he usually expressed it with silence and would ignore her for several days. The fact that he was like this now meant that he was really not angry.
"Are you going home first or...?" Huang Xiaochuan asked proactively.
"Take me to the hospital; I need to verify some clinical data this afternoon."
"OK!"
Huang Xiaochuan first sent Yu Xiang to Ruijin, but he didn't go back to his office. Instead, he went to the University of Finance and Economics.
This was arranged a couple of days ago to meet with An Cheng, Jiao Zhiyong, Ma Yifeng, and a few others. The meeting place was set in Ma Yifeng's office, but due to an unexpected situation at noon, Huang Xiaochuan was late.
He arrived at Ma Yifeng's office with practiced ease, and without knocking, he simply pushed the door open and walked in. There, he saw the three of them chatting animatedly while drinking tea.
"Sorry, were you waiting long?"
When the three saw him arrive, they all stood up, and Jiao Zhiyong didn't forget to put out the cigarette in his hand.
Ma Yifeng laughed and said, "Knowing you're a very busy person, we didn't expect you to be able to come on time."
Upon hearing this, An Cheng and Jiao Zhiyong both greeted Huang Xiaochuan with smiles.
Huang Xiaochuan first responded to Ma Yifeng, then asked An Cheng and Jiao Zhiyong, "When did you two arrive?"
"It wasn't long, only about ten minutes." Jiao Zhiyong took out a pack of cigarettes from his pocket to offer one to Huang Xiaochuan, but An Cheng stopped him, glaring at him and asking, "When have you ever seen him smoke? Put it away, I'll save you one."
Upon hearing this, Jiao Zhiyong slapped his forehead in frustration: "Look, I actually forgot about this."
Huang Xiaochuan joked, "Old Jiao, I heard you say last year that you were going to quit smoking. How come? You're still smoking?"
Jiao Zhiyong laughed sheepishly, "Damn, this stuff is really hard to quit. I tried to quit for over a week, but I just couldn't resist and started smoking again."
Then he gave another reason: "Anyway, a person's life is only a few decades long, and I've already been smoking for so many years, so let it be!"
Huang Xiaochuan would never actively persuade others to quit smoking. He doesn't even talk about his own father, father-in-law, and uncle quitting smoking. Instead, he encourages them to smoke cigars to reduce the harm of cigarettes to them. Naturally, he won't care about others. Everyone has the right to choose their own lifestyle and preferences, and there is no need to correct other people's habits.
