Chapter 109 Preparing for Battle
Chapter 109 Preparing for Battle
Chapter 109 Preparing for Battle
Link immediately deduced that Steve Rogers wouldn't be carrying a shield to the hospital, and Natasha Romanoff might be carrying a weapon, but even if she was, it would be a pistol, in addition to the stun gun on her nanosuit.
Clint Barton would certainly not carry a bow and arrow; at most, he would wear a nanotech suit.
Their nanosuits are designed as watches, which are convenient to carry, but weapons are not suitable for nanotechnology.
They are bound to be attacked on their way back to headquarters from the hospital, and Link is in a hurry.
The fighter jet quickly landed at Avengers headquarters. "Affleck, open the hangar."
The Avengers headquarters has two artificial intelligences, Jarvis and Alfred. This is to be on the safe side, and both artificial intelligences are used.
This allows Stark and Link to control the device from home without interfering with each other.
The hangar opened, and Link descended vertically. His Saboban was right there; he got in the car.
"Ah Fu, after I leave, seal off headquarters. No one other than the Avengers is allowed to enter. Also, contact Jessica for me." Link stepped on the gas and sped off.
The call connected. "Honey, you're back?"
"Yes, baby, where are you?" Link asked.
"I'm at the Foundation!" Jessica asked curiously, "What's wrong?"
"Have Frank and McCall take you home and shut down the elevator immediately," Link said. "If anything happens, you need to stay in a safe place."
"Okay, I'll go back now." Jessica didn't ask any more questions and didn't need to worry about Link's safety, so she readily agreed.
What Link likes most about Jessica is this: although she's very curious, she knows her limits. Now that Link is clearly in a hurry, she definitely won't ask.
She knew Link was safe and would tell her the answer later, so there was no need to chase after him to ask now.
Link hung up the phone, and Stark's location was sent over: "Alf~ Set the route."
"Yes, sir!" The route plan appeared on the windshield, and Link began to accelerate.
……
Inside the hospital, Steve and the others watched through the glass as Nick Fury lay in the operating room undergoing emergency treatment.
Natasha's eyes were filled with tears, but in her heart she was wondering, who could it be?
Moreover, S.H.I.E.L.D. now suspects the Avengers?
This doesn't make sense, because the Avengers wouldn't need to go through all this trouble to kill Nick Fury, yet he managed to escape and even end up at Captain America's house.
Finally, the assassin chased the captain to his house and fired two more shots, which doesn't make any sense.
Maria Hill stood to the side, and Natasha asked, "Why would S.H.I.E.L.D. suspect us?"
Maria Hill turned to Black Widow and said, "First, Secretary Pierce was in charge. I can't command S.H.I.E.L.D. right now; he's above me."
"..." Natasha turned to look at Captain America again. The two looked at each other but said nothing.
Everyone has questions, but now is not the time to discuss them, nor is this place appropriate.
Suddenly, the monitor in the operating room sounded an alarm; Nick Fury's heart had stopped beating, and resuscitation efforts began immediately.
At that moment, Link pushed open the door and entered, and everyone looked at him.
"Lin, you're back!" Steve said in surprise.
"Yes, we heard about the accident as soon as we landed, so we rushed over." Link turned to look into the operating room, where the doctor announced Nick Fury's 'death'.
It's definitely not a Skrull inside. Link confirmed it once again, then activated X-ray vision. Nick Fury's heart hadn't stopped beating; it was just beating more slowly.
The doctor left the operating room, and Nick Fury was wheeled out. Natasha and the others went to see him, and Link followed them.
However, after only about a minute, Maria Hill urged them on, as she was in charge of handling Nick Fury's "body".
Link and the others came out, and Brock Rumlow, the captain of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s Rapid Response Team, came over. "Captain, the Secretary wants you to come to S.H.I.E.L.D."
"We won't be going for now," Link suddenly said. "Now that S.H.I.E.L.D. suspects the Avengers, we'll just go back to headquarters and wait for their investigation results."
"..." The other party was taken aback and immediately said, "This is the minister's order."
"Captain America isn't a member of S.H.I.E.L.D. He's just a liaison; he doesn't need to take orders." Link's attitude was very firm. "If there are any problems, you can go to court, but you have no right to order the Avengers around."
Steve was curious about Link's attitude, but the Avengers were also full of doubts. Link's return gave them a glimmer of hope.
Brock Rumlow frowned, glanced at Link, then turned and left with the rapid reaction force.
Link immediately said, "Let's go!"
He didn't say much, just took his people and left, all the way to the parking lot, and then got into the car.
"Ah Fu~ Did someone approach the car just now?" Link asked.
"No, sir!" Alfred replied.
Link then started the car and slowly drove out of the hospital. "Plan the route, find the shortest route back to Avengers headquarters, close all windows, and put it into autopilot mode."
"Yes, sir." As soon as the words were spoken, all the glass, including the windshield, immediately changed and became SLR cameras.
Link then turned to Natasha and said, "Natasha, recline the backrests and get your weapons. Everyone, put on your battle suits and get ready for battle."
Captain America, Black Widow, and Hawkeye all narrowed their eyes and immediately began to act.
Natasha moved easily to the back, where Link's armory was located, and everyone was already dressed in their battle suits.
He took the equipment Natasha handed him, including a tactical vest and other items.
Even Captain America carried a pistol, and had a bracelet on his right wrist—a titanium alloy shield for emergencies.
There were plenty of weapons available for the four of them. Natasha and Steve Rogers used pistols, while Clint used a submachine gun.
Link carried the most weapons, including a pistol, a carbine, and throwing knives, which he carried in a box on his lower back.
Then, bullets were loaded, ready for battle at any moment.
"Lin, are you doing well in space?" Natasha suddenly asked.
This eased the tense atmosphere considerably!
"Smooth sailing. Soon we will have a spaceship that can accommodate 120 Swallow fighters, and can fly and fight within the atmosphere, and even land on the sea," Link said.
