Chapter 35 Ridicule
Chapter 35 Ridicule
Upon hearing Teacher Hou's words, Guan Xiaolin suddenly came to her senses.
She was so fond of the crow that she forgot everything else and chatted with Tang Huaiyi for a while.
I smiled apologetically at Teacher Hou, then ran back to my seat with a cheerful and youthful spirit.
Mr. Hou, slightly intoxicated, felt a dryness and itchiness in his throat upon seeing this scene. He coughed several times before finally expelling a mouthful of saliva and began lecturing from his textbook.
After finishing the lecture, the tipsy feeling was gone, and Teacher Hou was much more sober.
He glanced at his classmates and saw Guan Xiaolin looking down at her book, so he announced the end of get out of class and left, full of disappointment.
He had heard of Guan Xiaolin, the class monitor of Class 1, Grade 12. All the teachers gave her some face, and the principal smiled like a peony when he saw her.
This is beyond his comprehension.
Liu Fangfang from Class Two is still the best...
Her family wasn't particularly capable, and she wasn't bad-looking either.
...............
As get out of class ended, Tang Huaiyi was opening his foreign language book for the next lesson when he heard a soft sound.
"That crow... you'll be letting the class monitor take care of it from now on?"
Tang Huaiyi was somewhat surprised and looked at Li Xiujuan.
Li Xiujuan held the book between her fingers, not looking at him, as if she were asking unintentionally.
"Well, let her take care of it for now, since there's really no place for her to stay at the school," Tang Huaiyi said.
"It's Saturday in two days, aren't you going to bring that crow home?" Li Xiujuan asked in a low voice.
"I'll take it home?" Tang Huaiyi couldn't help but laugh. "You know a little about my family's situation. If I take this crow home, I'll be happy as long as it doesn't get eaten, let alone be fed by someone."
"Let Squad Leader Guan help feed them."
"Oh." Li Xiujuan stopped talking.
She had actually considered whether or not to take the crow home and raise it for Tang Huaiyi.
But upon closer reflection, I realized that I couldn't possibly raise crows well at home.
Before class in the afternoon, Guan Xiaolin came over to talk about raising crows. She was really envious—she also wanted to help Tang Huaiyi raise birds and talk to him about such interesting things.
Unfortunately, the class monitor's family background and circumstances were something she could never learn.
In the afternoons and evenings, I would bury myself in studying.
Because a year's worth of courses must be completed in six months, and the teachers in each subject teach at a relatively fast pace, students need to work harder on their own and not lose their basic knowledge.
After evening self-study, Guan Xiaolin talked to Tang Huaiyi about the crow again.
Just as she was chatting happily, a voice called her from the classroom door.
Wang Man and Zhao Weimin called her to go home together after school.
Guan Xiaolin waved to Tang Huaiyi and Li Xiujuan, smiling as she said, "Let's go now, we'll chat again tomorrow!"
After she left the classroom, Wang Man peeked back in with surprise: "Xiaolin, who were you talking to just now? You seemed so happy!"
"Classmate," Guan Xiaolin said with a smile.
"Have you made new friends?" Wang Man said. "You don't usually chat and laugh like this with your classmates."
"I guess so," Guan Xiaolin said. "They're doing pretty well."
As the two walked forward talking, Zhao Weimin glanced silently at a man and a woman dressed in shabby clothes in the back corner of the classroom, especially the man.
Aside from her friend Wang Man, Guan Xiaolin rarely chats and laughs with her classmates like this...
What's so special about this person?
Tang Huaiyi and Li Xiujuan tidied up the classroom and returned to their dormitory after the school staff urged them to hurry up and the power was cut off.
Walking on the dirt road on campus, following her habit from the previous two days, Li Xiujuan told Tang Huaiyi that she would go back to the girls' dormitory first.
Tang Huaiyi knew that the other crow was unlikely to come, but he waited quietly for a while before slowly returning to his dormitory.
Back in the dormitory, the lights were still on, but no one was talking, and the atmosphere was a bit cold.
Tang Huaiyi was still wondering what was going on when he saw Li Jialiang say something to Wang Yonghong, and then Ma Laixi deliberately shook his head to remind him, "Hey, don't you two interrupt their studies!"
"No talking in the dorm, or they'll report you to the teacher!"
Li Jialiang and Wang Yonghong chuckled to themselves.
He Genbao gritted his teeth and stared at Ma Laixi: "I meant after the lights are turned off!"
Ma Lai happy looked right past him, feigning a blank expression: "Who's talking to me?"
"Li Jialiang? Wang Yonghong? Or Song Siyuan and Tang Huaiyi? Which of you spoke to me?"
This is truly "arrogant and disrespectful"...
"Malaysia! You—"
As they were talking, the dormitory suddenly went dark and the lights were turned off.
He Genbao immediately fell silent.
A mocking laugh echoed from the darkness.
Then another mocking laugh followed.
He Genbao was furious: "You're all laughing at me! Just you wait, I'm going to tell the teacher tomorrow!"
In the darkness, no one paid him any attention.
It seemed like he was the only one left in the entire dormitory.
The night passed quietly, and the next morning, Song Siyuan, Li Jialiang, and Tang Huaiyi went to the classroom chatting and laughing.
Not long after, Ma Laixi entered the classroom and nervously leaned over to Song Siyuan, whispering to him.
"What if that coward He Genbao reports us again? Teacher Tian is angry, and she'll probably really call our parents..."
Song Siyuan scratched his face and said, "If he really complains, you're probably in real trouble."
"Damn it—"
Malay cursed a couple of times, but there was nothing he could do.
Looking up, He Genbao walked out and stood at the door waiting for Teacher Tian, who came to supervise the morning reading every day. He was clearly going to complain.
Malay stared through gritted teeth, but there was nothing he could do.
"If my parents really come, and my dad beats me, I'll beat him up too!"
As they were talking, Teacher Tian arrived at the classroom door, and He Genbao immediately went up to complain.
"Teacher, they're bullying me!"
Teacher Tian's opinion of him had already changed. Seeing that he had complained for the third time in less than a week since the start of the semester, she no longer made a decision immediately, but instead questioned him carefully with a stern face.
"Who are they? Why are they bullying you?"
"Just last night..." He Genbao recounted how he was targeted last night and how people laughed at him after the lights were turned off.
"You still need to make sure you get along well with your classmates."
Teacher Tian said coldly, "You said people are laughing at you, do you know who they are?"
"The lights were off at the time, and I didn't know who it was—it could be Ma Laixi, or it could be the two people from Class Two, or it could be Song Siyuan and Tang Huaiyi from before," He Genbao said.
Teacher Tian looked at him and didn't say anything for a moment.
After a pause, he said, "Okay, I understand."
"Go back and study hard. You need to focus all your energy on your studies, understand?"
"Yes, I understand, teacher. About this matter..."
"Let me think about it and then I'll decide."
With a cold expression, Teacher Tian gestured for him to return to the classroom.
He Genbao was a little puzzled, but he still went back to the classroom and began to read aloud.
When Teacher Tian walked into the classroom, Ma Laixi broke out in a cold sweat, lowered his head, and read aloud in a trembling voice.
Finally, Teacher Tian stopped in front of him.
Malay's hands trembled slightly.
But Teacher Tian only paused for a moment, leaving behind the words: "Study hard, and don't target your classmates anymore."
He then walked away.
