Chapter 28 Rescue
Chapter 28 Rescue
Gou Dan and Lin Nian returned before Shan Yaowen, not because they delivered the things back faster, but simply because their homes were closer.
Seeing Shan Yaowen return, Gou Dan looked at him suspiciously. "Why did you bring a blanket with you?"
"Mom tumbled the blankets again, saying it would make them warmer." Shan Yaowen brought the blankets into the room. "After I make the bed, you can sit down first."
Upon hearing the call to make the bed, Lin Nian went into the room to help Shan Yaowen make the bed.
Dog Egg had originally planned to go inside to warm up, but when he saw the two of them secretly holding hands, he immediately turned around and left.
Hemp egg!
It seems my good brother is really going to become my brother-in-law.
The more Gou Dan thought about it, the more uneasy he felt, so he decided to ignore it completely.
"Damn it, how long are you two going to keep this up?"
After waiting for half an hour and seeing that the two still hadn't come out, Gou Dan got anxious. "I'm still waiting to go hunting in the mountains. Are you two having a baby in the house?"
After waiting a few more minutes, the two finally came out. His younger sister's face was still red, and Shan Yaowen was unusually embarrassed, not daring to meet his gaze.
Seeing the two of them like that, Gou Dan's heart skipped a beat. "What are you two doing in the house?"
"No, just make the bed."
"You little brat, look me in the eye!" Gou Dan circled around, staring at Shan Yaowen.
His years of experience as friends told him that Shan Yaowen was definitely up to something.
Dan Yaowen was a little embarrassed. He hadn't expected Lin Nian to be so bold. His brother was still outside, and she just started to take the initiative. This old virgin who had been single for two lifetimes was a little overwhelmed.
After the incident, Lin Nian remained more composed than him, calmly looking at Lin Hao and saying, "Brother, if you want to make your bed, go back and make it yourself."
Dog Egg: ...
That's it, my sister is no longer the sister who used to idolize me.
It's all Shan Yaowen's fault!
Seeing the angry Gou Dan, Shan Yaowen quickly called out to go up the mountain.
He was afraid that if he continued to pester Gou Dan, Gou Dan would really break down and wouldn't be able to go up the mountain today.
The group got hungry, so they rested on the mountain and ate some meat pies.
During its rest, the silly bird continued to patrol the sky, chirping whenever it found something.
Dog Egg was filled with envy, which made him want to catch a big bird and tough it out.
"Let me warn you first, the hardships involved are immense, and there's no such thing as giving up halfway."
Dog Egg is the kind of guy who likes to do whatever comes to mind. I hope he doesn't overwork himself and cause problems.
"Tch, if you can do it, why can't I?" Dog Egg is such a stubborn guy. You're kind enough to remind him, but he's not happy to appreciate it. He just likes to go against you.
"Then go catch it yourself." Shan Yaowen decided not to say anything more. The more he talked, the more excited he became. Maybe after he rested today and went to learn carpentry from his master tomorrow, he wouldn't want to think about these things anymore.
"No, you catch him, I can't catch him."
"I owe you, so I'll catch him for you."
"Otherwise, I won't agree to you being with my sister."
"Damn it!"
Shan Yaowen glared at the guy with annoyance, "I need your consent!"
Lin Nian also threw a snowball at her brother from behind, saying irritably, "Is your sister only worth a big bird?"
After resting, they didn't speak again after going up the mountain. The mountain was difficult to walk on at this time, and it was covered with snow after the snowfall. If it weren't for the silly bird guiding the way from the sky, they wouldn't know where to go.
"Gah~"
Another loud eagle cry rang out, and Shan Yaowen's spirits lifted immediately. They had finally arrived.
This time, without Shan Yaowen even having to call him, Gou Dan stood up on his own initiative. "Let's go!"
He now has complete faith in the silly bird.
So the group followed the signs to their destination.
They stopped only when they reached the edge of a large crevice in the mountains.
However, it wasn't because they found prey, but because they discovered human tracks.
"No, Mosquito, someone must have stopped here, right?" Gou Dan looked suspiciously at the footprints on the edge of the large crack.
"It should be, but why is it only up to this point?" Shan Yaowen looked around in confusion.
There were only footprints of people coming from the other side; there were no footprints of people leaving or heading in another direction.
"The footprints end here, could it be..." Shan Yaowen walked to the edge of the crack and looked inside.
Is anyone there?
Dog Egg clearly understood Shan Yaowen's meaning, and immediately lay down at the edge of the crack to look inside, "Feed~".
The two called out twice, but received no response. Thinking they had guessed wrong, they were about to leave when they heard a faint, intermittent cry for help coming from the crack:
"Ugh~ Help~ me~"
"It's true." Although the voice was very soft, Shan Yaowen heard it clearly.
"Damn, there really is someone here, what do we do?" Gou Dan looked anxiously at Shan Yaowen after hearing voices.
You can't just stand by and watch someone die in this kind of situation. Not only would you be criticized when you get back, but you'd also feel guilty.
But the crack looked dangerous; he was afraid to even stand on the edge and look at it, let alone go down to rescue people.
"We definitely need to save them."
Shan Yaowen grabbed a handful of snow and rubbed it on his hands and face. "Go down, there's a place below that leads into this crevice."
Although he didn't remember who in the village had fallen into the crevice on the mountain at that time, he remembered the crevice and knew how to get down.
This crevice is somewhat like a narrow passage between cliffs; it looks dangerous from above, but you can walk right through from below.
In his past life, he had come here while chasing a wild boar and witnessed the boar fall down the slope. Unwilling to lose the boar he had almost caught, he devised a plan and eventually found a path below.
"Saving lives is the priority, so I won't go back and take a detour. The path down is quite difficult, so you must pay close attention to where I'm stepping and only step on the areas I've stepped on. The sides are covered by snow, so you might slip and fall."
After giving instructions to the two men, Shan Yaowen slung the gun over his shoulder and tied the sack in Lin Nian's hand to his waist, then began to descend step by step.
Meanwhile, in the mountain crevice below, a man lying on a rock stared at the gap above him, a hunting rifle lying not far away.
He thought he had accidentally fallen into this crevice and was surely gone, but it turned out that someone else had also arrived there. He mustered all his strength to make a cry for help, and then could only wait.
He didn't know if the people above had heard his cries for help. He tried to shout again, but no sound came out of his throat.
He wanted to shoot to warn his superiors, but he couldn't move at all. He felt like his back was ruined and he had no feeling in his hands.
Just when he thought the people above had left, and his mind started to wander and even despair, he suddenly heard several voices around him.
Before he could react, a series of hurried footsteps approached him.
"Someone's here! Come quick!"
Then he saw a head covered in snow appear in his field of vision.
"Uncle?"
Shan Yaowen stared at the person on the ground, unable to utter a sound; only his eyeballs could still move.
I really don't know if the voice I just heard up there was his.
"Mosquitoes, what do we do?" Dog Egg came in right away.
"Let me check it first."
Dan Yaowen was worried about the man's health, since he was lying there motionless with bloodstains around him. He didn't want to move him and make things worse.
There was such a thing in my past life: a hunter accidentally fell into a mountain stream and got injured, and his companions went to rescue him, but ended up killing him instead.
Fortunately, I had some experience in hunting from my previous life.
The man must have fallen and injured his back, and also suffered fractures to varying degrees in his legs and hands. The prolonged exposure to cold caused this condition.
As for the bloodstains around it, they must have been from cuts when it fell.
"What do we do?" Gou Dan was dumbfounded.
Shan Yaowen untied the rope from his waist and then tied the man to himself. "Help me secure the back."
Conditions on the mountain were limited, and Shan Yaowen didn't have time to do anything else. He simply tied the person to his body and carried him down the mountain first. He was afraid the person wouldn't be able to hold on if they continued to delay.
Shan Yaowen carried the man on his back, while Gou Dan took the gun and tools. After calling Lin Nian who was waiting outside, they ran straight down the mountain.
