Chapter 10 The feeling of nausea came unexpectedly
"You're saying that the intern that Secretary Jiang was with assaulted someone?"
Huo Sili's gaze fell on Liu Wenli's face. He spoke in a calm tone, but this cold tone made Liu Wenli feel a strong sense of oppression.
Inside the CEO's office, Jiang Qin sped up her responses to emails, and Lin Xiaoyu, hearing the increased keyboard clicks behind her, also quickened her pace in organizing documents.
In the corridor outside, next to Huo Sili, He Xu's lips twitched. He glanced at Liu Wenli, then swept his gaze over the office staff peeking out from the lobby, watching the drama unfold.
The employees, who had initially intended to continue observing the situation, immediately stopped and focused intently on their computer screens.
In a flash, Liu Wenli, facing the oppressive atmosphere, glanced back at the office area and saw that the department members who had originally agreed to stand up together were all bowing their heads.
She forced a show of grief and indignation, "Yes! Mr. Huo! We all saw it! You have to stand up for Xiao Li from our department! That intern, Secretary Jiang, is bullying us too much!"
Huo Sili's gaze remained indifferent as he looked into the distance, sweeping over the office area of Liu Wenli's department.
The words fell back on Liu Wenli's face. "Okay, then let's call the witnesses and talk in the conference room over there."
After saying that, he glanced at He Xu and said, "Call Secretary Jiang and her intern."
With that, he strode off into the conference room.
When Liu Wenli realized what was happening and rang out in a joyful "yes," Huo Sili had already walked past the president's office.
He Xu was about to knock on the door to call Jiang Qin and Lin Xiaoyu to the conference room when the door opened from the inside.
Ahead, Horst paused for a moment before continuing forward.
In the CEO's office, Jiang Qin led Lin Xiaoyu out, her fair and jade-like hands holding a clean A4 sheet of paper.
"Secretary Jiang." He Xu quickly stepped back to make way, smiling politely. "President Huo said he wants you and Secretary Lin to go to the conference room together."
"Okay." Jiang Qin responded to He Xu and led Lin Xiaoyu toward the conference room.
A moment later, in the conference room, Liu Wenli finished her explanation and looked at Huo Sili to summarize, "Mr. Huo, that's it! We all saw Lin Xiaoyu push Nana, causing her to have a nosebleed and bruises on her shoulder!"
He then unfolded a folded medical report, saying, "This is the hospital's report, Mr. Huo, please take a look!"
Huo Sili tapped the table with his index finger, took the document, glanced at it, and then looked at Lin Xiaoyu next to Jiang Qin.
"Lin Xiaoyu, is there anything you want to say?"
As soon as she said that, the secretaries from the food department all looked at Lin Xiaoyu.
They probably thought this would put pressure on Lin Xiaoyu, but to their surprise, Lin Xiaoyu responded neither humbly nor arrogantly.
"The burden of proof lies with the person making the claim, Mr. Huo. Since they say they saw me push Li Nana, there must be my fingerprints on Li Nana's clothes. I want to call the police."
Upon hearing this, Liu Wenli's expression changed slightly, but she quickly replied, "Fingerprints? Fingerprints aren't necessarily contaminated."
Before she could even speak after entering the room, Jiang Qin smiled and said, "Yes, Secretary Liu."
Liu Wenli's eyelids twitched. "How could that be? Maybe she just washed her hands clean?"
Jiang Qin spoke in a calm and unhurried tone, her face still bearing a friendly smile.
"Because Xiaolin was assigned by me to organize the documents in the bookcase starting this morning. Mr. Huo can testify to this. She didn't slack off; her fingertips were already stained black this morning."
"Since we're all secretaries, we should all know that that kind of ink is not easy to wash off; you have to use detergent to wash it thoroughly to remove it."
Liu Wenli and her female secretaries around her exchanged slight glances. Jiang Qin smiled and swept her gaze over them before continuing.
“The hand sanitizer in the women’s restroom on our floor ran out yesterday. After the incident, I went to the restroom to find Xiaolin. I passed by and saw that the cleaning lady hadn’t replenished it yet. And just now, Nana said that Xiaolin pushed her as soon as she entered the restroom.”
"Then I deduce that Kobayashi hadn't washed his hands at that time, so his hands must have been black."
As Jiang Qin finished speaking, her gaze fell on Li Nana's white women's shirt, and she looked at Li Nana.
"Nana, did you change your shirt because it was stained with blood from your nose?"
The eyes of the food department staff present wavered slightly; logically, they would all glance at Li Nana's shirt.
But several of the people who came glanced at Liu Wenli.
Huo Sili sneered, "Do you think the company is a palace? Li Nana, tell me, what exactly happened?"
Li Nana turned pale and instinctively looked at Liu Wenli, "Sister Liu..."
Liu Wenli's eyelids twitched, and she glanced at Jiang Qin, whose face still held a gentle and proper smile. "Secretary Liu, are you looking at me because you want to say something to me?"
"If not," Jiang Qin said, looking at Lin Xiaoyu and handing her the blank A4 paper she was holding.
"Press gently with your hand and see if there are any marks."
The dirty black marks were clearly visible on the white paper, leaving the people opposite speechless.
Huo Sili stood up, his tall figure casting a chilling shadow as he coldly swept his gaze over Liu Wenli and her group.
"Now, you few, come out into the lobby and apologize to your colleague in front of everyone!"
"I..." Liu Wenli never expected things to turn out this way.
She racked her brains trying to salvage the situation, but Horstley clearly had no intention of listening to her nonsense any longer.
The man glanced at He Xu and strode away.
After the storm subsided, Lin Xiaoyu returned to the president's office and thanked Jiang Qin repeatedly. With the matter resolved, Jiang Qin continued working, keeping busy until six o'clock.
When her alarm rang, she packed her things to leave, but suddenly remembered that she hadn't asked Huo Sili for the gift Xie Youan had given her.
Looking behind her, Lin Xiaoyu happened to walk by. "Sister Qin, I'm leaving now, bye-bye."
"Okay, bye-bye." Jiang Qin smiled.
After Lin Xiaoyu left, Jiang Qin's smile faded, and she walked into the inner room with her bag slung over her shoulder.
Upon reaching the door, the sound of clattering keyboards filled the air. Looking around, I saw Horstley, who seemed somewhat different from usual.
The man wore a pair of light gold-rimmed metal glasses on his high, straight nose. The light gold frames complemented his fair skin, adding a touch of scholarly elegance to his already handsome appearance.
Aloof and noble, refined and ascetic.
Unfortunately, she now knows all too well that these are all illusions.
This person is actually no different from some other men: fickle, promiscuous, and unfaithful in marriage.
However, Jiang Qin paused before continuing forward. The glasses were ones she had helped him choose a year ago when they were enjoying their time together. They were also one of the gifts she had given him. They were non-prescription glasses that blocked blue light.
But their relationship over the past year should have prevented him from still using the things she gave him—and, come to think of it, that tie…
Realizing her thoughts were wandering, Jiang Qin frowned and pulled herself back to reality.
Looking at the man in her eyes, and after thinking for a moment, Jiang Qin still raised her hand and knocked on the door, "President Huo."
However, Horstley acted as if he hadn't heard, continuing to type on the keyboard.
It took quite a while before it stopped, but it still didn't look over immediately. Instead, it glanced at the bottom right corner of the screen before giving a cold, condescending look.
"what's up?"
Jiang Qin tightened her grip on the bag strap. Perhaps she hadn't completely recovered, because Huo Sili's cold gaze still felt like a knife piercing her heart.
However, Jiang Qin quickly regained her senses, walked inside, and quickly looked around. Not seeing any sign of the gift box, she asked directly.
"Where did you put the gift Xie You'an gave me? Give it to me, I want to take it back."
“Throw it away.” But as soon as the words left his mouth, Horst’s expression turned cold, and he uttered those two words.
Throw it away? Jiang Qin's fingers tightened around the bag strap again, and her gaze towards Huo Sili turned cold. "That's..."
That was a gift given to her by someone else; what right does he have to dispose of it?
She was about to argue with Horst when suddenly a gust of wind blew in through the window.
It's lunchtime now. The employees at the Huo Group headquarters have excellent benefits; breakfast, lunch, and dinner are all provided free of charge in the restaurant, and the dishes are plentiful.
The wind carried a strong smell of oil and meat.
The nausea came unexpectedly, and Jiang Qin arched her body slightly, instinctively covering her mouth and nose.
