Tenfold cashback: How I manipulated my ex-girlfriend on the plane

Chapter 13: The surgery was a success.

Chapter 13: The surgery was a success.

"Stop talking." Chen Mo interrupted her, gently wiping away her tears with his fingers. "Let's have the surgery first, we can talk about the rest later."

Guan Yao nodded, closed her eyes, and tears flowed silently.

Chen Mo stood up and said to Zhao Xue, "Go call the doctor and get the family members to sign the consent form."

Zhao Xue responded and quickly left the ward.

Lin Shiyu stood at the door, watching this scene, her heart filled with mixed emotions.

She saw Chen Mo hold Guan Yao's hand, saw him wipe away her tears, and heard him say, "The New Year isn't important, you're more important."

Every detail was like a thin blade, gently cutting into her heart, again and again.

But she didn't leave, nor did she show any unusual behavior.

It just stood quietly at the door, like a sculpture.

Chen Mo turned around and saw her.

"Poetry, please help me."

"What busy?" Her voice was so calm that even she was a little surprised.

"Go and complete the hospital admission procedures. I'll go find the doctor to sign the papers."

"it is good."

Lin Shiyu turned and walked towards the payment window, her steps steady and her back straight.

She didn't turn around.

But she could feel Chen Mo's gaze lingering on her back for a few seconds.

That feeling was like a ray of sunshine in winter—brief, yet so warm it made your heart tremble.

Time flew by, and the surgery was scheduled for 2 p.m.

Chen Mo signed the consent form and settled the fee in one lump sum—38,000 yuan.

The system gave me a tenfold cashback, and 380,000 yuan was deposited into my account. The balance jumped and stopped at 25,857,000 yuan.

Chen Mo remained silent for a moment.

He sat on a bench in the corridor outside the operating room, his hands crossed on his knees, his gaze fixed on the red light above the door.

Lin Shiyu sat next to him, holding two cups of coffee she had bought from a vending machine.

"Here you go." She handed her a cup.

"Thank you." Chen Mo took it and took a sip.

The coffee was bitter, with no sugar or milk, which was his preferred flavor.

He didn't know how Lin Shiyu knew, nor did he ask.

The two sat in silence, neither of them speaking.

The corridor was quiet, with only the occasional footsteps of a passing nurse and the distant rumble of a trolley.

Twenty minutes later, Lin Shiyu finally spoke.

"Chen Mo, do you still like her?"

Chen Mo did not answer immediately.

He stared at the operating room door, remained silent for a long time, and then said, "I don't know."

Lin Shiyu nodded and didn't ask any further questions.

She lowered her head, holding the coffee cup in both hands, feeling the warmth emanating from the cup.

"Whether you still like her or not," she said softly, "what you just did was cool."

Chen Mo turned to look at her.

Lin Shiyu didn't look up and continued, "A man who can appear when his ex-girlfriend needs him most, without holding grudges or bringing up past grievances, and who will provide financial and physical support as needed... such men are very rare."

She paused, then lowered her voice: "Guan Yao's decision to break up with you back then was the stupidest she ever made."

Chen Mo smiled but didn't reply.

The surgery lasted for more than two hours.

At 4:15 PM, the lights went out.

The surgeon came out, took off his mask, and said, "The surgery was very successful. The appendix has been removed, and there were no complications. You will be hospitalized for observation for three to five days. If there are no problems, you can be discharged."

"Thank you, doctor." Chen Mo stood up and shook hands with the doctor.

Guan Yao was wheeled out of the operating room, still under anesthesia.

Her face was still pale, but her brows had relaxed a bit, and her breathing had become much more steady.

Chen Mo followed the trolley all the way to the ward, and only breathed a sigh of relief after watching the nurse settle her in.

"Shiyu, you go back first," he said. "I'll stay here with her tonight."

Lin Shiyu nodded without saying anything more.

She threw down her coffee cup, picked up her bag, and glanced back as she walked to the door.

Chen Mo sat on a chair by the hospital bed, holding Guan Yao's hand and looking at her face.

That scene was so heartwarming it brought tears to my eyes.

Lin Shiyu took a deep breath, turned around and left the ward.

She walked to the parking lot and got into the driver's seat of the brand-new Porsche Cayenne.

With the key in hand, the engine can be started at any time.

But she didn't drive.

He just sat there, his hands on the steering wheel, his forehead against the back of his hands, and his eyes closed.

After a long while, she finally looked up and started the car.

The roar of engines echoed through the empty parking lot.

I put the car in reverse, slowly backed out of the parking space, and drove out of the hospital.

In the rearview mirror, the hospital building grew farther and farther away, smaller and smaller, until it finally disappeared into the night.

Lin Shiyu withdrew her gaze and focused intently on the road ahead.

The car stereo was playing an unknown English song; the female singer's voice was languid and melancholic, as if she were singing a story about gaining and losing.

She hummed along softly to the melody, her voice so soft that she could barely hear it herself.

But she knew that from today onward, some things were different.

Guan Yao woke up around 7 p.m. in the hospital ward.

When she opened her eyes, the first thing she saw was Chen Mo.

He sat on a chair by the bed, holding his phone. His profile appeared particularly soft in the dim light, with a well-defined jawline, a straight nose, and slightly pursed lips, exuding a serious and focused charm.

"Chen Mo..." she called softly.

Chen Mo immediately put down his phone and leaned down to look at her: "Awake? How are you feeling?"

"The wound hurts a little..." Guan Yao's voice was still weak, but much better than before the surgery. "Was the surgery... successful?"

"It's a success. The doctor said the recovery is going well and I can be discharged in three to five days."

Guan Yao nodded, remained silent for a few seconds, and then said, "You...why haven't you left yet?"

"Why are you leaving? You just had surgery; you can't be alone."

"But shouldn't you be home for the New Year? Your parents are definitely waiting for you..."

"I told them I'd be back a few days later," Chen Mo said calmly, as if it were a matter of course.

Guan Yao's eyes reddened again.

She turned her head to look at the ceiling, not wanting Chen Mo to see her tears.

"Chen Mo, I'm so sorry." Her voice trembled. "What I said on the plane last night... and what I did in the bathroom... I..."

"Stop talking," Chen Mo interrupted her. "Those things are in the past. The most important thing for you now is to get well."

Guan Yao bit her lower lip, tears streaming silently down her face.

It took her a while to calm down before she turned to look at Chen Mo.

"Chen Mo, I have a question for you."

"ask."

"You...you've struck it rich, haven't you?"

Chen Mo looked at her, a slight smile playing on his lips: "Why do you ask that?"

"Because..." Guan Yao hesitated for a moment, "You were in first class on the plane yesterday, and you were driving a Porsche Cayenne today. Zhao Xue told me that she saw you in the parking lot."

Chen Mo smiled and said, "Your colleague has a good eye for observation."

"So...it's true?"

Chen Mo did not answer directly, but simply said, "I guess so."

Guan Yao remained silent for a long time.

Then she said something that Chen Mo had never expected.

"Chen Mo, if I get back together with you, would you be willing?"
