Lin Dachun helped Lin Yali fetch water.
The sound of water being poured into the tank was hollow.
Lin Dachun straightened up and wiped the sweat from his face.
The sweat was salty, and when it got into my eyes, it stung painfully.
The cave dwelling was even hotter and more stuffy than outside, with heat seeping out from the earthen walls, making it hard to breathe.
"Alright, let me know if you need water. I'm going back now; Ruoxue is waiting for me." Lin Dachun noticed that it was already dark outside.
Lin Yali stood by the stove, nervously twisting the hem of her clothes: "Brother Dachun, don't be in such a hurry, please sit down, I'll pour you a bowl of water."
Lin Dachun took it, but didn't drink it; he just held it.
Water sloshed in the rough earthenware ladle, and fine sand floated in the murky yellow soup.
He noticed that Lin Yali's lips were also cracked and peeling from thirst.
"You drink it." He handed the ladle back to him.
"Isn't there water here? You can drink it. This water is yellow, or you can let it settle." Lin Yali pushed it back.
Lin Dachun placed the ladle on the stove and looked around the cave dwelling.
It was even more dilapidated than his house, with large patches of plaster peeling off the walls, revealing the compacted yellow earth underneath.
The quilt on the kang (a heated brick bed) was patched upon patched, very thin.
It's hot today, so there's no need to cover yourself with a blanket.
On the only table sat a chipped, coarse porcelain bowl, half-filled with a dark, mushy paste, probably leftovers from lunch.
"Has Lin Liang written back?" he asked in a low voice.
"No, not a single word." Lin Yali sat down next to Lin Dachun.
As she turned around, Lin Dachun saw that a large patch of her blue cloth shirt was wet, clinging tightly to her thin back.
The sweat-soaked fabric was almost transparent, revealing the equally soaked undershirt and the thin, protruding shoulder blades beneath.
She probably realized it herself, blushed, and quickly tugged at her clothes.
But with this pull, the front of the shirt tightened, and the soaked fabric clung to her chest, outlining the two slender yet still soft contours of her breasts.
Lin Dachun looked away and wiped his sweat again.
The more he wiped, the more sweat he produced, which trickled down his neck, into his chest, and soaked his coarse cloth jacket.
The jacket was sticking to his body, hot and sticky, so he simply unbuttoned two buttons.
This exposed a small portion of his dark chest, covered in glistening sweat.
Sweat trickled down the grooves of his chest muscles and disappeared into his waistband.
Lin Yali glanced at it, quickly lowered her head, swallowed, and her face turned even redder.
Her own clothes were soaked through; her floral blouse clung tightly to her body, and the outline of the enormous undergarment underneath was clearly visible.
Sweat trickled down her neckline, down the cleavage, itching, but she dared not scratch.
The cave was eerily quiet, with only the heavy breathing of the two people and the occasional sound of wind from outside.
It's so hot, so incredibly hot, it's making me dizzy.
At this moment, Li Ruoxue was naked in the cave, just to keep cool.
"Brother Dachun," Lin Yali suddenly spoke, her voice hoarse, "you...you should take off your clothes, it's too hot. I'll wash them for you, or wipe your sweat."
"No need, I have to go back. Ruoxue is waiting for me." Lin Dachun was about to get up.
Just then.
Lin Yali suddenly stepped over and sat on Lin Dachun's lap, facing him, while leaning forward and pressing herself against him.
Lin Dachun lost his balance.
He fell backward onto the kang (a heated brick bed).
Lin Yali then followed suit and lay down on top of him.
The two were very close.
Face to face.
"Yali, get up again!" Lin Dachun said anxiously.
This was the first time Lin Yali had harassed Lin Dachun like this, pouncing on him like a hungry tiger.
