Chapter 31 I'll Break Your Legs
The village was exceptionally quiet after the rain.
The dirt road was eroded and uneven, with puddles reflecting the grayish-white sky.
The old black dog, with his hands tucked in his tattered cotton shoes, wandered aimlessly through the damp village.
He's been having a run of bad luck lately, losing all the little money he'd saved from trading mountain goods before the new year at a gambling table in a neighboring village. He's got a lot of resentment inside him and nothing seems right to him.
Before he knew it, he had wandered to the edge of the village, down the slope where Lin Dachun's cave dwelling was located.
Looking at the cave dwelling, which was tidier than before, and the new maroon blouse that was clearly a woman drying in the yard, the old black dog's filthy thoughts stirred again, mixed with jealousy and hatred.
"Pah! You old coffin-stuffer, you sure know how to enjoy life!"
He spat under his breath, still feeling a little scared when he remembered the pain of Lin Dachun nearly crushing his wrist last time, and the ruthless hunter look in Lin's eyes.
But that anger gnawed at him like a worm.
He looked around. After the rain, most of the villagers were resting at home or busy with their own things. There was no one around.

The old black dog crept stealthily to the entrance of the cave dwelling.
The old wooden door didn't close properly; there was a fairly large gap between the panels.
He held his breath, bent down, squinted one eye, and carefully pressed his face against the gap to peek inside.
The light inside the cave dwelling was dimmer than outside.
But the old black dog still saw the scene inside the cave.
When the old black dog saw this scene, his face turned purple.
Two people, a man and a woman, inside the cave dwelling~~~
Perhaps the man inside the cave noticed the peeping eyes through the crack in the door and rushed over in a hurry.
Just as the old black dog was engrossed in watching, almost leaning against the door...

The door suddenly opened a crack.

The old black dog was so frightened that its soul almost left its body. It shuddered and suddenly sat up straight and turned around.
Old Black Dog's legs went weak, and he almost knelt down. His face drained of color, and he stammered, "Big...Big Brother Chun...I...I was just passing by...I just...just taking a look..."
"Just passing by? Taking a look?" Lin Dachun took a step forward, the blade of his shovel scraping softly against the damp ground. "Is there gold hidden under my door? Or something else you're so fixated on?"
His voice wasn't loud, but it was like an icicle, making the old black dog tremble all over.
The memory of the excruciating pain in my wrist from last time instantly returned.
"No, no! Really no!" The old black dog waved its paws repeatedly, backing away as if trying to slip away. "I'm leaving now! I'm leaving now!"
"Don't let me see you come to my house again to spy on me. I know what you're up to! You just want to peek at Ruoxue, don't you? Forget about it. Especially when I'm not home, if I catch you, I'll break your legs," Lin Dachun shouted angrily.

The old black dog then slipped away.
Lin Dachun closed the door of the cave dwelling and then stuffed the gaps with cloth.
The old black dog braved the light rain, completely unwilling, muttering repeatedly, "Damn it, damn it. What's wrong??"
On the road, they encountered a villager wearing a bamboo hat, who asked, "Old Black Dog, what are you yelling about? What 'fuck me, fuck me'? Who offended you?"
