THE KING OF STARS

Chapter 80: THE FIRST WAVE

Chapter 80: THE FIRST WAVE

The war had begun.

Not between kingdoms.

Not between sects.

Not even between heaven and the Devourer.

This was war between realities.

And creation stood directly in the middle.

The darkness beyond the heavenly breach churned violently.

Three colossal eyes stared inward.

Then six.

Then twelve.

More were gathering.

Watching.

Learning.

Waiting.

The convergence bridge Yun created had done exactly what it was meant to do—

It connected.

But connection worked both ways.

The Shepherd stood motionless beneath the opened heavens.

For the first time since its appearance, it looked vindicated.

"LOOK."

Its voice shook the world.

"THIS IS WHAT ALWAYS FOLLOWS."

The darkness beyond the breach expanded.

Then something emerged.

Not a claw.

Not a limb.

A head.

The sight alone drove millions of lesser cultivators unconscious across the continent.

The creature's form shifted continuously between states of existence.

Scales became eyes.

Eyes became mouths.

Mouths became stars.

Its shape refused stability.

Reality itself could not properly define it.

The moment it entered the breach—

The sky began bleeding.

Literally.

Crimson cracks spread across heaven while divine laws destabilized around its presence.

The creature spoke.

And every language ever spoken echoed simultaneously.

"HUNGER."

The word alone shattered seven mountain ranges.

---

Yun felt the convergence react violently.

Not with fear.

Recognition.

The silver and black threads spun faster around him.

The bridge was trying to understand the invader.

To categorize it.

To connect it.

But the thing beyond heaven had no place within creation's structure.

It existed according to different rules.

Different truths.

Different reality.

---

The creature moved.

A single step.

The heavens collapsed inward around it.

The Shepherd reacted immediately.

"THRONES."

All remaining Thrones attacked simultaneously.

Golden authority exploded across existence.

Billions of heavenly scripts descended like divine meteors.

The creature ignored them.

The attacks struck.

The heavens exploded.

And when the light faded—

The creature remained untouched.

Not because it blocked the attack.

Because the attack had failed to affect it.

The laws simply...

Didn't apply.

Seraph's expression changed.

For the first time.

Fear.

"Authority rejected."

The words sounded impossible.

A Throne had never spoken them before.

---

The creature smiled.

Thousands of mouths opened across its face.

Then it attacked.

The nearest Throne vanished.

Not destroyed.

Gone.

One moment present.

The next erased from causality itself.

The remaining Thrones immediately retreated.

Shock spread through heaven.

The Shepherd's pressure surged.

The Devourer laughed.

Not happily.

Not mockingly.

Like a warrior seeing an old nightmare return.

THEY HAVE EVOLVED.

The Shepherd answered coldly.

"BECAUSE YOU OPENED THE WAY."

---

The creature stepped further into reality.

The breach widened.

And behind it—

Movement.

Countless silhouettes.

Yun's stomach dropped.

There weren't dozens.

There weren't hundreds.

There were armies.

Entire civilizations of Outside entities gathering beyond the threshold.

Watching.

Waiting for entry.

The First Wave.

---

The Root reacted.

Silver light erupted across the world.

For the first time in ages—

The ancient tree moved offensively.

Entire continents shook as colossal branches rose into heaven.

Thousands.

Millions.

Each branch carried enough power to crush worlds.

The Root attacked.

The sky disappeared beneath silver.

The creature was engulfed.

The impact shattered dimensions.

Entire layers of reality collapsed from the force.

For several seconds—

Nothing remained visible.

Then...

A mouth opened inside the silver storm.

And began eating.

The Root.

The branches.

The energy.

The laws.

Everything.

The creature consumed the attack.

"...Impossible."

Asheara whispered.

The First Heir looked genuinely horrified.

"It adapted that quickly?"

The Devourer answered.

THEY ALWAYS DO.

The primordial being's wounds began glowing.

Ancient chains embedded throughout its body rattled violently.

Then snapped.

One.

Two.

Ten.

Hundreds.

The world shook.

Yun suddenly realized something.

The Devourer had never recovered fully.

Even now.

Even after awakening.

Most of its power remained sealed.

---

The Shepherd noticed too.

"DO NOT."

The Devourer smiled.

Its countless eyes turned toward heaven.

YOU FEAR THIS MORE THAN THEM.

Another chain broke.

The sky exploded.

Entire stars appeared briefly around the Devourer before collapsing again.

Ancient power flooded creation.

The Root trembled.

The Thrones retreated.

Even the Outside creature paused.

Watching.

Calculating.

---

Then the Devourer stood.

Fully.

For the first time.

The world became too small to contain it.

Its body stretched across dimensions.

Galaxies rotated beneath its skin.

Silver roots wrapped around endless darkness.

And its true eyes opened.

Not countless.

One.

A single enormous eye.

Ancient.

Infinite.

Terrifying.

The eye focused on the First Wave creature.

Then the Devourer spoke.

Its voice echoed across every layer of existence simultaneously.

YOU ARE NOT WELCOME HERE.

The creature smiled.

Thousands of mouths answered together.

"WE WERE INVITED."

Silence.

Yun froze.

The Shepherd froze.

Asheara froze.

Even the Devourer became still.

Invited?

Then—

A horrifying realization struck Yun.

The First Collapse.

The war.

The opening of the path.

The original catastrophe.

The Outside had not found creation.

Someone had opened it for them.

And somewhere in the darkness beyond the breach—

Something laughed.

Not the First Wave creature.

Not the Shepherd.

Something older.

Something that had been watching since the beginning.

Waiting.

For this exact moment.

And slowly—

A figure began walking toward the breach from deep within the Outside.
