Chapter 6 Security
Chapter 6 Security
Yan Xun clicked his tongue, then punched the control panel.
—The control panel malfunctioned instantly, and then the elevator suddenly stopped.
Although the elevator had stopped, the thing outside the door didn't seem to be going to let him go. He could clearly hear a piercing scratching sound, as if it wanted to tear the elevator door apart and drag Yan Xun out.
The elevator alarm was likely triggered by a malfunction, and soon the familiar voice of the building manager could be heard inside.
"The elevator is malfunctioning. Please stay put."
“There’s a fake man outside, a man in a white T-shirt and flip-flops,” Yan Xun said quickly.
He wasn't sure what the administrator would do, but both the flip-flop and the previous administrator mentioned that there were security guards in the building who specifically dealt with fake people.
"Okay, I understand."
Please wait patiently.
After he finished speaking, the speaker in the elevator emitted a crackling sound of electricity and then fell silent.
The thing outside the elevator seemed to have heard Yan Xun's phone call with the building manager, and the sound of it grabbing the metal panel became even more piercing... Finally, after a series of footsteps, the sound of it grabbing the door panel disappeared.
The administrator's voice came from outside the elevator: "The imposter has been caught."
Thank you for your cooperation.
"Now we will rescue you."
Yan Xun stood at the furthest point from the elevator door. Soon the elevator door opened, and he saw the familiar old manager and the security guards in black uniforms.
The flip-flops, which had been grabbed by the security guard, seemed to want to continue the attack, but were knocked unconscious by the guard.
Seeing that Yan Xun was alright, the old caretaker nodded and said, "You can come out now."
He stood at the door, showing no intention of coming in, seemingly because he felt the malfunctioning elevator was unsafe.
Yan Xun carefully recalled what the administrator looked like last night. He looked him up and down several times to make sure he wasn't a fake before getting out of the elevator.
"This elevator is unsafe," the manager said after Yan Xun came out. "It often malfunctions."
"It's best not to take the elevator."
As he spoke, a security guard came to Yan Xun's side. "Are you alright?"
Yan Xun looked at the security guard who was talking to him.
He was an unusually tall man. Compared to the other security guards, he had a more pronounced smile. He had brown eyes and striking features, and his security uniform made him look more like he was shooting a professional feature for a fashion magazine… He looked at Yan Xun, seemingly wondering if the guest had been harmed by the imposter.
"It's alright," Yan Xun said.
"That's good." He breathed a sigh of relief, then whispered to Yan Xun, "Could you please not complain about us?"
Yan Xun was unsure whether this person was a player or an NPC... He looked at the other person carefully for a few moments and saw that he was looking at him nervously, so he guessed that the person was probably an NPC.
"Then give me something in return," Yan Xun said, sizing up the other man. As soon as he said this, the man relaxed a lot.
“Okay.” He walked beside Yan Xun and whispered, “I can give you my contact information.”
“Call me immediately if you spot the imposter,” he told Yan Xun. “I’ll come even if it’s after get off work hours.”
Yan Xun touched his phone in his pocket and then wrote down the other person's phone number.
“You’re very lucky,” said the security guard named Chi Yuan. “Sometimes when the residents in the building encountered fake people, they were gone before we even got there.”
“The worst guest I’ve ever met had all his ribs broken,” Chi Yuan said slowly. “It seems that the fake man wanted to eat his heart.”
"By the time we found him, he had been dead in the room for a long time."
He looked down at Yan Xun and said, "It's a good thing you were in the elevator."
"And caused the elevator to malfunction temporarily." He spoke slowly, and compared to the other security guards in similar uniforms, he seemed to be a cheerful person.
"That way we can come and rescue you in time."
Yan Xun glanced at the current floor and found that they were on the 10th floor... The remaining security guards, wearing flip-flops, left through another emergency exit, and said goodbye to Chi Yuan before leaving.
At this moment, only the administrator, Yan Xun, and Chi Yuan beside him remained in the corridor.
"Aren't you going with them?" Yan Xun asked.
“I’ll go with you to the first floor,” Chi Yuan said to Yan Xun, “to prevent the fake humans from appearing again.”
"Your hair color is beautiful. Did you choose this color intentionally?"
Yan Xun: "..."
He doesn't know how many times he has to explain that his hair is like this because he doesn't have money to take care of it... The last time he dyed his hair was because someone paid him to be a model.
He glanced up at Chi Yuan. "No."
"Are you trying to chat me up?" Otherwise, he really didn't understand why this person kept talking to him.
"So obvious?" Chi Yuan said somewhat awkwardly, then looked at Yan Xun, "So is it possible for me?"
“You have no chance,” Yan Xun said.
He doesn't date NPCs.
Upon hearing this answer, Chi Yuan immediately showed a regretful expression.
They had now entered the safety passage. The motion-sensor lights on this floor were working. Yan Xun glanced at them and realized that the next floor was the first floor.
Immediately afterwards, Yan Xun saw his two teammates.
There were no other guests besides them.
"Here to collect food?" the administrator asked, his eyelids drooping.
He walked over and opened the door to the management office.
The mixed-race man from last night looked at Yan Xun and asked, "Why did you all come together?"
"We've encountered a fake," Yan Xun said briefly.
As soon as he said that, both of his teammates looked at him.
The people who came to collect food today, besides Li Wu in black who introduced himself last night, were the mixed-race man who was supposed to be Gui Yuchong's roommate.
"Is it just the two of you?" Yan Xun asked.
Li Wu glanced at Yan Xun, then looked away. "The mission says that the person in the room should go and collect the food, and only one person can go at a time."
"It's better to follow the rules on the first day."
The mixed-race man moved closer to Yan Xun and looked him up and down. "Aren't you injured?"
"The administrator and security guards arrived quite promptly," Yan Xun said, turning his gaze to Chi Yuan beside him, who greeted them.
"If Li Wu hadn't mentioned it, I wouldn't have even realized we graduated from the same school," the mixed-race man suddenly said, looking at Yan Xun. "Want to come to our room for a get-together later?"
Yan Xun immediately understood what they meant.
Before he arrived, the mixed-race man and Li Wu had probably already planned that the teammates entering the dungeon would go to the mixed-race man's room to exchange information.
Graduating from a school is just an excuse.
“Sure.” Yan Xun shrugged. “I didn’t expect that we would graduate from the same school. It’s quite a coincidence.”
"By the way, do you remember my name?" the mixed-race man suddenly asked.
"I'm three years ahead of you. My name is Su Yumin."
Seemingly worried that Yan Xun might forget their names, Su Yumin gave them a special reminder.
