Chapter 10: Claim Your New Player Gift Pack
Chapter 10: Claim Your New Player Gift Pack
Jimmy stood outside the door, rubbing his hands together, even though the door could be opened with a push.
But the last time he came in like this, he happened to catch Max changing her bra, which embarrassed him so much that he turned into Peppa Pig on the spot.
There's no way around it, that's how kids are during puberty. Any kind of exciting program can send their little rocket soaring into the sky.
"Come in, come in, come in, this is so annoying."
She rubbed her freshly washed hair with her hands, her eyes indifferent as she glanced at the gentle-smiling young man: "You'd better say what I want to hear, otherwise tonight after you fall asleep, I'll sneak into your tent and rape you, to see if you're really like the rumors say, no longer interested in breasts."
"Max, I'm straight, straighter than Iron Man!"
Jimmy raised his right middle finger, giving her a friendly gesture: "Fine, I'm not going to argue with you anymore. Think what you want. I just wanted to tell you that someone came back to the camp and said he witnessed the Sean brothers getting beaten up in the back alley. The guy who did it was an Asian boy I'd never seen before, about 185cm tall, wearing a white T-shirt and black athletic shorts..."
At this point in his description, he suddenly couldn't speak, and the two of them looked at Ma Jieke simultaneously.
White T-shirt, black shorts, 185cm...
Ma Jie sat up awkwardly, feeling the air gradually freeze, and then unconsciously swallowed: "If the Sean brothers you know are tattooed, skinny like goblins, look a bit effeminate, and like to spew filth, then that's me. They insulted my country and must pay the price."
"Oh my god!" After hearing his story, Max excitedly hugged his neck and planted a big kiss on his cheek. "By the way, baby, what's your name again?"
"Jack".
"Jack, the name of a hero." She stroked Jack's muscular biceps. "I can already picture the two of them groaning under your massive frame. You beat up those Blood Gang scumbags, those are our Blue Hair Squad's friends. Stay, Jack, the camp welcomes you."
"Ha, that's great!" Jimmy chimed in, equally pleased. "Max, this is the wisest choice you've made this year."
"So this is how you treat your friends?"
Ma Jie never expected that the white goblin he had brutally beaten was still providing residual value.
If he doesn't make good use of this, is he even human?
A shrewd businessman like Max immediately understood the unspoken message and laughed as he recalculated the bill: "Don't be angry, brother. Friends are friends, and business is business. But since you beat up the Blood Gang, I'm willing to provide you with free services. Just give me $55. I can't keep putting any more money into this."
"A very fair price."
Jack Ma took out all his savings, counted out $25 for her, and put the remaining small bills and coins in his pocket for emergencies.
The transaction was officially completed, and he shamelessly asked, "Boss, besides the free service, is there anything else I forgot to claim in the newbie gift pack?"
"Kid, don't push your luck." Max explained with a smile, "The original intention of setting up this camp was just to bring everyone together so that we could stick together for warmth. You must have been in the slums, so you know what it's like there: drug addicts who have ruined their brains, mentally ill patients with abnormal behavior, infectious diseases that are hard to guard against, and bastards who might suddenly break into your tent one night to rob you and strip you of your clothes."
"Some people have done follow-up research and found that the average lifespan of professional homeless people is less than 5 years. I don't want my daughter to wake up one day in 5 years and not have a mother."
"So do you understand? No one here has given up the struggle. Your current setbacks don't mean you'll be a loser forever."
"But if you want to make yourself more comfortable, you have to forage for food in the wild yourself. There are no mother birds here, and no one will chew up the insects and feed them to you."
"Okay, teacher, I understand." Ma Jie smiled helplessly and decided to leave first.
Not everyone is unreasonable. If all else fails, just sleep on the sofa. That thing should be for public use, as long as no one pees on it.
"Wait a minute." Just as he was about to leave, Max pulled out a military green camping bag from somewhere and threw it at him forcefully.
*Smack!* Ma Jie caught it firmly, slapping some of the dust onto his face, covering his hair in dust.
"This is my spare tent. I can't think of any other use for it besides taking up space in the car."
"So you gave it to me?" Ma Jie turned his face away and asked, tilting his body to the side.
"Dream on." Max rolled his eyes. "I waited in line for three hours to get this. I'll give you $100."
"Oh? Then I don't want it."
"Haha, I was just kidding. Look how scared you are." She laughed, raised the glass bottle, and downed it in one gulp. She wiped the wine stains from the corner of her mouth with the back of her hand. "Take it. You can think of it as a gift, or as a single mother's overflowing love. But to hell with it, welcome to the West Coast where even the air is filled with freedom, welcome to the Blue Hair Squad where everyone is a future elite."
"Okay, boss, see you tomorrow."
Ma Jieke smiled confidently. In any case, he had finally found his tribe.
It's really tough for a lone wolf in Los Angeles. Even in the game, you need three guys and a dog to work together to overcome the difficulties and defeat the final boss.
"Jack, come stay at my place."
Walking through the camp, Jimmy extended an invitation to him: "I'd like to be your first neighbor."
"Dude, are you sure you're not interested in men?"
Looking at his excited expression, Ma Jieke felt that something was amiss.
"Oh please, even you're saying that about me." He first feigned annoyance, then displayed a triumphant sense of revenge: "Fine, I'll tell you the truth. Those two scumbags you beat up today tried to kidnap me, but Max stopped them. They often prey on lone young boys in the slums, taking their victims to gay-themed bars. Those places are full of perverted rich people who like that kind of thing. Do you understand what I mean?"
"Hmm." Ma Jie nodded. "But now that you mention it, I really regret only breaking that guy's nose instead of his third leg."
"Haha, you're awesome, Jack. I feel really safe with you. Give me a high five so I can feel your power."
I freed my hand and gave Jimmy a high five. The kid kept babbling on and on, telling every acquaintance he met about his heroic deeds.
"When we get to Jack, that orange tent in front of us is my little nest."
"You can pitch your tent opposite mine, so I can come over and chat with you when I'm bored at night."
"Whatever, I'm fine with staying anywhere." Ma Jie didn't care about these details; he just wanted to lie down as soon as possible and get a good night's sleep.
I've been living under a bridge these past few days, and I'm freezing to death.
