Chapter 733 - 733: Capturing Iron Thorns and Iron Treads

"ARCHA!"Seeing Iron Thorns still standing, Archaludon let out a victor's roar. Although it had not completely defeated Iron Thorns yet, Archaludon still had plenty of stamina left. In contrast, Iron Thorns could barely continue.

"Good. You lasted quite a while, but this is where it ends," Gary ordered. "Archaludon, finish Iron Thorns with Flash Cannon!"

Archaludon planted all four limbs on the ground, its body stretched straight like a bridge spanning the sea. Silver light gathered in its mouth before it fired a silver beam forward.

Iron Thorns slammed one palm against the ground, and two slabs of rock burst from the earth in front of it.

Bang! Bang!

Boom!!

Unfortunately, two pieces of rock were not enough. Flash Cannon instantly shattered both slabs and struck Iron Thorns.

Iron Thorns fell completely this time. It did not get back up again, its eyes shut tight.

There was still more than an hour before lunch, yet Gary and the others had already returned. Their speed was truly fast.

"Professor, we found the cause of the disturbance in the Rock area. Two Paradox Pokémon appeared there, and one of them was a Pokémon I had never seen before," Garke said.

"A Paradox Pokémon you've never seen before? Hurry, let it out so I can see it," Professor Sada said curiously.

Garke was her student and also a member of the Paradox Pokémon research team. He knew all the Paradox Pokémon information within the project. Since there was a Paradox Pokémon even Garke did not know about, Professor Sada was naturally very curious.

"Gary captured the Paradox Pokémon," Garke said.

Professor Sada looked at Gary.

Gary took out two Poké Balls and handed them to Professor Sada.

Garke froze for a moment before saying, "I understand."

Gary was somewhat confused by the way Professor Sada referred to Professor Turo. She called him Professor Turo rather than her husband. That was not how a normal married couple would speak of one another.

"Professor, can I ask you something?" Gary suddenly interrupted.

"Go ahead," Professor Sada said.

"Why are all the Paradox Pokémon I've encountered and captured in the Great Crater of Paldea, like these Paradox Pokémon here, seemingly mechanical? Are they really Pokémon?" Gary asked.

Gary had assumed everyone around Professor Sada already knew he'd captured Great Tusk.

"What? You captured Great Tusk?"

Before Professor Sada could answer, Garke was shocked. He had not known that Gary had captured a Paradox Pokémon, much less one he already knew about.

"What? You didn't know?" Gary asked.

"The last time I went to the Kanto Region on business, it was because Gary had captured Great Tusk. I just didn't tell you," Professor Sada explained.

"How is that Great Tusk? That's a very irritable Pokémon," Garke said.

"Great Tusk gets along very well with Gary's Pokémon. It also follows Gary's training instructions and is very obedient," Professor Sada said.

"Is that so? You managed to tame Great Tusk, Gary? You're amazing," Garke exclaimed.

"I'm a Trainer. Taming Pokémon is a very normal thing. There's nothing worth praising," Gary replied calmly.

Nick and Angus both thought Gary was showing off.

Other people might not understand Paradox Pokémon, but the two of them knew very well that Paradox Pokémon had bad tempers and were highly aggressive. They were much harder to tame than ordinary Pokémon.

Gary had never felt that taming Pokémon was difficult. Perhaps when he had first become a Trainer, it had taken him some effort to tame Pokémon.

Now, whenever Gary captured a Pokémon, he could teach it moves and instantly raise its friendship toward him. Even if it was unwilling to follow him afterward, it would not harm Gary.

"Professor, you should answer my question first. Why are the Paradox Pokémon I encountered in Area Zero all like Great Tusk?" Gary steered the conversation back.

"I can only say that there are many types of Paradox Pokémon. You just happened to encounter these three. There are also Paradox Pokémon that do not have mechanical appearances," Professor Sada explained.

"Then why are their names so similar? Iron Bundle, Iron Thorns, Iron Treads—they all have 'Iron' in their names," Gary asked.

"Because these Paradox Pokémon were discovered and named by Professor Turo. He personally liked to use general naming conventions, so the names of these Paradox Pokémon all begin with the word 'Iron,'" Professor Sada said.
