Chapter 118 The Real Hydra
Chapter 118 The Real Hydra
Chapter 118 The Real Hydra
The gunfire lasted for a long time before finally subsiding. Most of Hydra was eliminated, and a small number were captured. As for whether any escaped?
That's a problem for the next director; they've done their best right now.
Maria Hill saw Link and said, "Link, can you take us to another base?"
"The real S.H.I.E.L.D. agents need reinforcements now!"
"Sure!" Link reloaded the magazines, "Give me the exact location, and some pictures or something."
The next step is to provide support to various locations. Those currently on missions need not be concerned, as they are not receiving specific information at the moment. The support will be provided to the branch offices and bases in various locations.
The arrival of the Avengers quickly gave S.H.I.E.L.D. the upper hand, but too many people died, most of them from Hydra, but S.H.I.E.L.D. also suffered significant losses.
By evening, it was mostly over, but Link hadn't found Killian; he now needed to interrogate Alexander Pierce.
……
"Hill, we need to interrogate Pierce," Link said immediately upon returning to S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters.
Hill thought for a moment and said, "Okay, both he and Rumlow need to be interrogated. You two will handle Pierce, and I'll have someone interrogate Rumlow."
"Alright!" Link summoned the Avengers, ready to interrogate Pierce.
However, Natasha spoke first, asking, "Have you seen Coulson?"
Everyone shook their heads, but Natasha laughed and said, "It seems Fury has already put Coulson in charge of his secrets."
Link waved his hand and said, "This has nothing to do with us, but Coulson is a trustworthy person. Once he takes over, we can confidently hand over Hydra to him to handle."
"The key now is to interrogate Pierce and ask him what Hydra really is."
Everyone nodded, and then they went to the interrogation room where Pierce was being held. Not everyone went in; only Link and Natasha did.
The others went to the observation room next door, where they could hear the sounds from the interrogation room and see the people inside.
Pierce remained calm. He glanced at Link and Natasha as they entered. "Death and Black Widow, one a psychology expert, the other a professional spy. How do you intend to interrogate me?"
Link laughed and said, "We don't want to know who Hydra is; we just want to know what Hydra is."
"It's definitely not an organization founded by Red Skull, otherwise it wouldn't have survived to this day, am I right?"
Pierce was quite surprised and looked at Link, saying, "Your intelligence is truly extraordinary."
"You actually figured it out?"
"During World War II, those guys who thought they had destroyed Hydra were very proud of themselves, but they had no idea that Red Skull was just one branch of Hydra."
"Moreover, it is a branch that has broken away from the real Hydra."
"The real Hydra is a god!"
Link was happy; this guy finally spoke up, though he might also have said it to discourage the Avengers.
Link then asked, "Would you mind introducing this god?"
"Of course!" Pierce was in high spirits. "The real Hydra doesn't want to rule the Earth. They've existed for over a thousand years, dedicated to welcoming their god back to Earth."
"This goal has never changed; they, the Red Skull, even we, see them as heretics."
"If their god could return, ruling the earth would be an easy thing to do."
"Therefore, our connection is not very close."
Link nodded slightly and said, "No wonder you said that if you cut off one head and it grows two, it seems this god is some kind of alien creature?"
"It's not on Earth, and the real Hydra has been searching for it for over a thousand years?"
"That's really long enough!"
Pierce added, "Indeed, they all seem crazy to me, but over a thousand years ago they were European nobles who controlled vast sums of money, and it's the same today."
"Therefore, it is very useful."
Link then asked, "Does the World Security Council also have Hydra?"
"Shouldn't it be the US council member?"
"..." Pierce's expression changed.
Link nodded with satisfaction and said, "It seems I guessed right. We've caught another one. Thank you for your cooperation."
Link stood up and gestured for Natasha to leave. They went to the key control room next door, where Link said, "As you all know, Hydra is essentially a worshipper of extraterrestrial beings, and of course, these extraterrestrial beings are not simple either."
Steve said, "I feel so stupid!"
Link patted him on the shoulder and said, "You won the war. Whether the enemy was eliminated or not is not important."
"The goal of war is to win, not to annihilate. There's no need to dwell on it. The rest is up to S.H.I.E.L.D. to handle."
"We need to recruit some people who are willing to live in space."
"Once things calm down, we can begin production of the Swallow-type fighter jets. We also need to design a landing site in space, our real base."
Stark immediately replied, "That's right, but can we leave now?"
"Alright, let's go!" Link opened a spatial portal, and everyone returned to Avengers headquarters. Natasha needed to return in her Swallow fighter jet.
How to handle the aftermath of the S.H.I.E.L.D. conflict was not a concern for the Avengers. They returned to their normal lives, and Pepper and Jessica both went back to work.
Link then notified Norman Osborn to begin production. Stark was responsible for manufacturing the core new element, while Link was in charge of the space engine. These two were the main components, so they had to be in charge of them personally.
Anyway, not many are being produced, so we can just produce them slowly.
The key point is the space station!
However, at this moment, Norman Osborn approached Link, "Link, there's a scientist I hope you can meet. His research project is nuclear fusion."
"Dr. Otto Gunther Octavius's research is nearing completion, and I'm ready to invest. If successful, we'll be on par with Stark in the field of new energy."
Link was taken aback after hearing this, and guessed that this was Doctor Octopus.
Link stopped the excited Osborn and said, "I understand, Norman, but his experiment is very dangerous. I need to know all the data. We can go see him first."
"If possible, I would like to conduct the experiment in space, which would be much safer, since once nuclear fusion is started, it is not easy to stop it."
