Chapter 12 A Little Interlude

Chapter 12 A Little Interlude

Coulson provided little information. Wilson Fisk bought an oil painting, "Rabbit in a Blizzard," for tens of thousands of dollars, which Coulson felt was almost like a blank sheet of paper.

The gallery is owned by Vanessa Mariana, who deals in oil paintings and is quite well-known; the gallery is doing good business.

She herself is a woman of refined taste, and when she buys art, the value of the artwork is often not the key factor; rather, it's about avoiding taxes. Of course, the artwork also has the potential to preserve and increase its value, which is also very important.

Link quickly learned about the situation and then began to wander around the house, which lacked some decorations.

The apartment is mostly decorated in white, and the designer left a lot of blank space for the owner to decorate.

Some oil paintings are indeed good choices, but Link needs to consider in advance which kind of oil painting to choose.

He's going there to buy artwork to decorate his new apartment; this needs to be made clear. He doesn't understand art, but he plans to buy some books. With his super thinking and super speed, he can learn everything quickly.

However, we can't go too far, since he studied psychology, so we should start from that angle.

Link was already interested during the day, but Wilson Fisk wouldn't go to the gallery during the day, so he would have to go at night.

However, this timing is not so easy to grasp. He first needs to determine the whereabouts of the target.

……

Link is now a professional gambler. He doesn't play games every day; when he does, it's usually in the evening, around 8 PM. He's quite satisfied with his current job.

I had a lot of free time. During the day, I drove to a bookstore and looked for some books on oil painting and other art, mainly general knowledge.

For things like painting techniques and styles, you only need to grasp the basics. As a special agent, you need a broad knowledge base, and you can supplement your knowledge as the number of missions increases.

Although he doesn't have a study, his master bedroom is very large, with bookshelves and a desk, so he can enrich his bookshelves and create a persona of being a learned man.

After buying the books, I went to a bar. It was a mid-range bar, and most of the customers were white-collar workers from the neighborhood, but it wasn't very crowded during the day.

He chose a seat by the window, ordered a bourbon, and then picked up a book to read. It was a good way to pass the time.

Link was positioned near the gallery, ready to wait for his chance. He didn't have many opportunities, so he couldn't afford to waste them.

The book wasn't the point; he had already finished reading it when he parked the car. It only took him a few seconds. He placed it on his lap from an angle where no one was watching, head down as if searching for something.

After Link came into contact with the secret agents, he kept improving himself. It may have only been a little over a month, but he learned enough for others to study for several years.

This can be considered another superpower: super learning ability, relying on a super brain and super speed.

Cigars weren't suitable for this place, so he took out a pack of cigarettes, asked for an ashtray, and then slowly smoked, occasionally turning the pages of his book and taking a sip of his wine glass.

……

Time passed slowly, and by 5 p.m., more people started to come, and the bar returned to its usual bustling state.

Link sat sideways by the window. To his right was a small round table and three bar stools. Two women sat there, and after discussing what to drink, one of them got up and went to the bar.

He brought back two glasses of wine and then started chatting.

"What's wrong this time?" one of the women asked.

Woman B replied, "He's an idiot."

Woman A asked, "Is this job like a printer, sucking your soul out of you?"

"No, that was my previous job," Woman B reminded her.

Link found it somewhat interesting. He was also a little bored, having sat there for almost half a day. He divided the women into two groups and listened to their conversations, which turned out to be surprisingly interesting.

"This job involved letting the exhaust fan ravage my brain."

Woman A said in a helpless tone, "You feel bored because these jobs are a piece of cake for you."

Woman B said definitively, "No, I'm not good at anything."

Woman A immediately retorted, "Nonsense, you're a master liar!"

Just then, a man in a suit walked over and struck up a conversation, saying, "Hey, how about we play a dating quiz? I think we're a perfect match."

The woman, looking apologetic, said, "Although I really want to go, I'm a bit busy right now."

"Hey, I know you!" the man in the suit suddenly exclaimed in surprise. "You had red hair back then, I think. I've seen your stand-up comedy."

This made the woman a little embarrassed. Woman A said, "That was a long time ago."

"Yes, I was 12 years old at that time." The man in the suit seemed to have had a bit too much to drink and was completely oblivious to the two women's emotions.

Woman B seemed unable to bear it any longer and said, "I'll play with you."

"Okay!" the man in the suit agreed.

"Jessica, there's no need," Woman A called Woman B's name.

"It's alright," Jessica said, turning to the man in the suit. "But I don't like any dating games. How about we try our strength instead?"

There's a force gauge in the bar, it's not very professional, but you can still test your strength.

"If I win, you pay for our meal, apologize to my friend, and then go wherever it's cool."

The man in the suit, brimming with confidence, asked, "What if I win?"

Jessica smiled and said, "I'll take you to the back so you can meet your little radish."

Jessica and the man walked over. The man took out a coin, inserted it into the machine, and then pushed it up with all his might.

Link didn't pay attention; if a woman makes such a suggestion, she must have something to rely on.

As expected, the woman won, and scored the machine's maximum score.

Link turned his head in surprise. He had heard it clearly and his eyes met those of Jessica, who had just walked back.

Looking at Link, Jessica walked back to her original spot, winked at her companion, and then whispered, "Look at this guy over there, he looks pretty good!"

Woman A turned her head and glanced at Link, who had already turned back to his book. Looking at Link's profile, she nodded slightly, feeling pleased with herself.

So she whispered, "Go after him. You haven't been in a relationship in ages, and you've already lost your job anyway, why not give it a try and find a man?"

"..." Jessica seemed somewhat tempted, glancing at Link again before nodding. "Wait."
