Chapter 13 Jessica Jones
Chapter 13 Jessica Jones
Chapter 13 Jessica Jones
She picked up the money she had just won, then got up and sat down opposite Link, who looked up at her.
At that moment, their eyes met, and Jessica felt her heart flutter.
Link guessed who the other party was: Jessica Jones, a member of the future Defenders who would be controlled and abused by the Purple Man in the future.
Judging from her appearance, she hasn't encountered the Purple Man yet.
"What's up?" Link asked.
"I just won some money, and I'd like to buy you a drink," Jessica said. "Besides, you've been sitting here ever since we came in, reading even in this noisy environment. You're probably not waiting for someone."
"I heard your conversation. Do you want to go on a date with me?" Link asked bluntly.
"..." Jessica wasn't embarrassed at all. Instead, she looked boldly at Link and said, "Yes, I want to go on a date with you, but we'll have to see how things go in the future."
"Then I accept." Link agreed. He really should find a girlfriend. This woman was actually quite suitable. She had super strength and super jumping ability. She certainly wouldn't be considered a mini-Superman, but she was still pretty good.
"But at this hour, it's better to invite you to dinner than to buy me drinks!"
"Great!" Jessica turned to look at her female companion, then gave her a smug look, indicating that she had won her over.
But then Link asked, "Are your friends coming along?"
"Huh?" Jessica was taken aback. "You're not just pretending to agree to my request so you can target her, are you?"
"Looks like you lack confidence!" Link laughed. "When you two are together, are all the guys who come up to you targeting her?"
"Hmm~ what you said is basically true." Jessica didn't seem discouraged at all, but rather as if she was already used to it.
"She's your friend, are you really going to abandon her?" Link then whispered, "You just offended someone."
Jessica suddenly realized and said, "We really can't leave her behind, let's go together!"
"Let's see when you show your true colors!"
The two got up, and Jessica called out, "Tracy, let's go eat."
As he spoke, he placed the money for the drinks on the table and weighed it down with a glass.
Tracy was taken aback and asked, "Why did you drag me along for such a great opportunity?"
"I offended someone earlier, how can I leave you here alone? Besides, I need to see if you're his target," Jessica said softly.
"What?" Tracy was taken aback, then was pulled away by Jesse to walk outside.
Link had already put away his cigarettes and followed behind with his book. After they came out, Link gestured for the two ladies to get into his car, which was a two-door, four-seater.
The back seat was a bit cramped. "Which of you ladies will be sitting in the back?" Link asked, opening the passenger door, pushing the passenger seat forward.
Jessica said, "I'm wearing pants, and I'm sitting in the back."
Tracy looked at her own skirt, realizing she couldn't help her sister either.
While Link was driving, he didn't say much, but two women, one on his right and one in the back, were looking him over.
Link had already figured out the situation in the vicinity. After all, Wilson Fisk wasn't stupid. If he hadn't been active in the area, it would have been too abrupt for him to suddenly go to the gallery.
So he easily found a restaurant, parked the car, helped the two ladies out, and the three of them went into the restaurant together.
Although there were no reservations, there were still seats available; it's just a mid-range restaurant.
Link pulled out chairs for the two men, demonstrating his gentlemanly manners. Then, the waiter brought over three menus. Link asked, "What would you two like to drink?"
Tracy was originally a child star who acted in movies and released albums. People said she was a natural star and that everything she did was a hit.
Now she has her own radio show, "Tracy Says." She's beautiful, rich, and famous, so she and Jessica have always been the targets of men's advances.
Jessica believes that Link's main target is her sister Tracy. The two are sisters, but they are not related by blood. Jessica Jones was adopted by Tracy's mother.
At that moment, Jessica's eyes lit up. She glanced at the most expensive drink on the menu and immediately said it.
Link's expression remained unchanged. He nodded to the waiter in agreement and then began to order.
After the three ordered their food, they began to chat. "Let me introduce myself. My name is K. Lin, and I'm of Chinese descent. Lin is my surname. And you two?"
"Jessica Jones, this is my sister Tracy Walker," Jessica introduced first, then rested her elbows on the table, leaned close to Link, and looked at him with a fascinated expression.
Link found it amusing that this woman thought his target was Tracy and that he was a scheming man.
She seemed to have forgotten that she was the one who initiated the conversation with him, but Link found this woman quite interesting.
She can't be described as having a bad personality, but she's certainly quite unconventional. She suffered an unfortunate childhood; a car accident left her all alone.
To this day, she still doesn't dare to learn to drive, which shows how much psychological trauma she has suffered.
"I just heard you talking about work. Jessica, have you been unable to find a suitable job?" Link decided to start a conversation with Jessica, temporarily leaving Tracy aside.
He actually looked down on Tracy. When Tracy was a teenager, her mother sent her to the director's room. Later, she became a singer, abused drugs, and was promiscuous. He wouldn't even take this woman if she were offered to him.
Before Jessica encountered the Purple Man, everything was alright. She had a boyfriend, but he died; he was killed by Jessica's mother.
"Yes!" Jessica nodded. "There are many reasons, and I don't really want to talk about them, but I always get several months' salary as compensation."
Link asked, "So, what do you like?"
"Think it over carefully and find something you enjoy doing."
"I love getting to the bottom of things!" Jessica stared at Link and said, "What do you do for a living?"
"Me? A professional gambler!" Link said. "I studied psychology in college, became a police officer after graduation, and after a year of internship, I offended the district attorney before becoming a full-fledged officer. As a result, after becoming a full-fledged officer, I was assigned to the West Midtown Police Station."
"That is, the infamous Hell's Kitchen."
"After working for only a few days, I encountered a gang fight and killed more than 20 people."
Link recounted his experience, leaving the two women speechless. He had killed more than twenty people.
Are you bragging?
Link had no intention of stopping, and began to introduce himself.
