Chapter 31 Bruce Banner
Chapter 31 Bruce Banner
Chapter 31 Bruce Banner
Bruce Banner was cautious. He returned to New York with his belongings, refusing to stay in any hotel that required identification, and he didn't have that much money right now.
He thought of a place: the pizza place he used to frequent with his girlfriend, where he was quite familiar with the owner.
Carrying a travel bag, I took a taxi to the location and then prepared to enter through the back door.
However, a car stopped beside him, the driver's side window rolled down, and a young Chinese man appeared.
He smiled at him and said, "Good evening, Dr. Bruce Banner!"
"..." Bruce panicked and turned to run away.
But Link's words made him stop: "The military already knows you're back."
"..." Bruce turned to Link and asked, "Who are you?"
"Get in the car. This isn't the place to talk. Don't worry, I won't provoke you, because that's too dangerous," Link said. "I know a lot of things won't work on you, so I just want to talk."
After hesitating for a moment, Bruce knew he didn't have many options unless he released the Hulk, but that was the last thing he wanted to do.
So he got into the car, from the passenger seat. Link started the car, and it slowly drove away.
Bruce Banner and his girlfriend in the pizzeria perfectly avoided each other, which Link did intentionally.
This kind of sentimental attachment to one's children is the worst thing to do!
"Let me introduce myself. I'm Link, you can call me Lin. I belong to the Strategic Homeland Defense, Attack and Logistics Agency." Link, like Phil Coulson and the others, said his full name directly.
"..." Bruce Banner was completely bewildered. "What's this for?"
"The territory doesn't refer to the United States, but to the entire planet. We are a line of defense for the planet," Link said. "This is a global organization, managed by the World Security Council, and funded by countries around the world. It's a joint organization."
"How could that be?" Bruce Banner didn't believe it. "If such an organization existed, why would there be a war?"
"You don't know the whole story. We're not defending against wars on Earth, but against extraterrestrial civilizations. That's why I said it, given your special circumstances. The extraterrestrial civilizations that people have been wondering about do exist," Link said.
"..." Bruce Banner hadn't expected to hear such a shocking story today, but he still didn't quite believe it.
Link didn't explain much. Instead, he drove to an open space, invited the other person to get out of the car, and took out some food and drinks from the trunk.
"I'm sure you haven't eaten yet, we can talk while we eat." This is the pizza we bought, two large pizzas in total, and two cups of Coke.
Link asked, "Would you like me to try it first?"
"No need." Bruce Banner took a box, placed it on the hood of the car, opened it, and started eating.
Link opened another box, ate his pizza, and said, "We've learned a bit about things. The military announced it was an experimental accident, but the damage at the scene wasn't caused by an explosion."
"And then they went after you. We had some guesses about what happened. The experiment must have been successful, but not entirely, right?"
“That’s right, I’ve become a monster, a monster with immense destructive power, and it’s out of control,” Bruce Banner said. “Now do you want it?”
"To the best of my knowledge, we don't have any experimental projects related to the Super Soldier Serum," Link said. "To put it bluntly, the enemy we know of is not someone that one Captain America, or even a group of Captain Americas, can handle."
"We already have a lot of alien artifacts that we've sealed and are studying."
Bruce looked at Link in surprise and asked, "Are you sure it's okay for you to tell me all this?"
"Doesn't that sound like a lie?" Link laughed and said, "At first I thought so too. I used to be a policeman, and then I made a lot of money in Las Vegas. At this point, I faced a choice."
"As a result, someone came to my door to recruit me. I was very interested and curious about it, so I joined. As a result, I saw a truth that I never knew before."
"Earth is like a supermarket; countless aliens have visited. Perhaps there are still aliens hiding here today—can you believe it?"
Bruce swallowed the pizza in his mouth with difficulty and said, "Unbelievable."
"Yes, it's unbelievable." Link nodded and said, "Then, Bruce, coming back was a mistake, and giving your blood to someone else was an even bigger mistake."
"..." Bruce was taken aback. "You all knew?"
"Of course, the internet isn't secure." S.H.I.E.L.D. didn't know that, but Link did!
Since he was carrying out the mission alone, he wasn't worried about being discovered. His psychology skills were the most useful against Bruce Banner.
"And your Mr. Blue cloned your blood and conducted numerous experiments."
"Impossible, how could he..." Bruce was stunned; he hadn't considered this. "He promised."
"A mad biologist—and you're a researcher yourself, how do you know he wouldn't do that?" Link said with a hint of sarcasm. "He could win a Nobel Prize for it, why wouldn't he?"
"..." Bruce paused for a moment, then said, "No, he has to destroy that blood."
"Don't worry, someone will take care of it," Link reassured her, then said, "Now let's talk about your problem."
"Me?" Bruce was taken aback.
"Based on what you've said, I've come to a conclusion, and that is, the one inside you... what's his name?" Link guided Bruce.
"Hulk, he named himself Hulk," Bruce said.
"Yes, Hulk." Link nodded slightly. "Although I don't understand your field of expertise, I do know that experiments won't put a person or anything into your body, so its birth is your problem."
"Me?" Bruce was stunned. "How could that be?"
"Of course it's possible. I studied psychology in college, and I'm sure you've heard of dissociative identity disorder, right?" Link continued, "I know about your experiences; we investigated your past."
"Your childhood was unhappy, which may have contributed to your timid personality. Did you ever imagine yourself becoming strong and able to protect yourself when you were a child?"
"Dissociative identity disorder is related to personal experiences, and your experience is a typical example."
"It's just that you're very smart, you've always excelled in your studies, and you've earned seven doctoral degrees."
