Chapter 39 Madman?

Chapter 39 Madman?

"You can't escape. You've been put on a bounty. Assassins will keep finding you and killing you!" The other person finally spoke, and Link realized that he had been put on a bounty.

He asked curiously, "How much am I worth?"

"Three hundred thousand US dollars!" The other party didn't hide anything, then grinned, "You're dead."

"Where is the bounty placed on me?" Link asked. "I don't need to know the employer's name, I just need to know where the bounty is placed on me, how about that?"

"The Continental Hotel!" the assassin said. "Do you want to go?"

"Pfft pfft..." Link fired two shots, killing the man instantly. He then crouched down and searched the man's body, finding two spare magazines, some cash, and two gold coins on his upper body.

Holding the gold coin, Link examined it carefully, wondering if there were continental hotels in this world.

He turned and left with the gun, returning to the parking lot and driving away. He then took out his phone and called Coulson, "Do you know the Continental Hotel?"

"I know, what's up?" Coulson asked.

"Send me the address, I want to go take a look!" Link didn't mention the bounty on his head. He had nothing to do anyway, so he might as well go and check it out.

"No problem, I'll send it to you now!" Coulson then hung up the phone and sent the address. He wasn't worried about Link.

Link is quite strong, whether in shooting or hand-to-hand combat, and with his expertise in psychology, he generally won't have any problems.

Just like he wouldn't worry about Hawkeye and Black Widow!

Link doesn't have his own codename yet, because these codenames weren't given to him by S.H.I.E.L.D., but rather he pieced them together himself.

Link glanced at the text message, then stepped on the gas and headed straight for the Mainland Hotel.

Soon, he arrived at the Continental Hotel, which was built on a triangular plot of land with the main entrance in one corner, making it relatively small.

Link parked his car at the entrance, handed the keys and a tip to the doorman, and walked straight inside.

Upon entering, I saw the reception desk directly in front of me, occupied by a bald black man wearing glasses. It was indeed the Continental Hotel I knew. This receptionist was probably Charon, Winston's right-hand man and manager of the New York Continental Hotel.

Stepping to the front desk, Link asked, "How can I see your manager?"

"Sir, do you have an appointment?" Caron saw a stranger. He usually remembered most people, having worked as a greeter here for a long time.

"No, but I think Mr. Winston would like to see me, since I should have a bounty on my head recently." Link grinned. "I need an explanation for this."

Charon's pupils contracted. This was the first time a person with a bounty on his head had come here and stood in front of him demanding an explanation.

"Please wait a moment!" Charon picked up the phone and dialed. After a few seconds, the other end answered, "Sir, a wanted person wishes to see you."

"Oh?" Winston was also taken aback. This was the first time he had encountered something like this, but it was clear that the other party had the confidence to do so.

"Okay, bring him to the garden!" Winston said, then hung up the phone. He was considering who this person was, since the daily bounty was not small.

Charon hung up the phone and said, "Please come with me, Mr. Winston is waiting for you."

Link followed directly, and the two soon arrived at the hotel's terrace garden. Winston sat at a long table, smoking a cigar and drinking tea. The sun was shining brightly today.

Link walked over and went straight to Winston's side, which made Charon very nervous, since the other party was not one of their people and might not know the rules of the Continental Hotel.

However, Link did not do anything out of line. Instead, he opened the cigar box in front of Winston, took out a cigar, and smelled it under his nose.

"Good stuff!" Link picked up a cigar cutter, trimmed the end, and then sat down opposite Winston. "Tell me, is this something Santo Nicolás Antonio has put a bounty on?"

Link took out a lighter and started heating his cigar, as if this were his territory.

Winston laughed and said, "Young man, you have quite the guts!"

"No, it's you guys who have guts, daring to put a bounty on anyone." Link said, lighting a cigar and taking a deep drag.

He paused for a moment, then exhaled smoke rings. "He's doomed. Besides, he'll have to pay a heavy price before he dies."

"I need to let people know that I am not someone who can be easily manipulated."

Winston paused, then asked, "Young man, I remember you. Your name is K. Lin, a Chinese American."

"We did put a bounty on you, but you can rest assured that killing is not allowed in the Mainland Hotel. However, once you leave this place, things might change."

"Hehe~" Link chuckled, but then continued smoking his cigar, pondering whether he should use his S.H.I.E.L.D. identity.

Using this identity would undoubtedly be the simplest option, but once used, one would no longer be able to maintain the cover of being a professional gambler.

He liked his current identity very much, and Coulson hadn't involved him in the Destroyer's missions before, precisely to keep him in the status quo.

Link took another puff and said, "It seems you're not planning to withdraw."

“Of course!” Winston said. “Unless the employer cancels the contract, the Continental Hotel will have to pay a price.”

"Very well, I will be here tonight. I hope you are prepared," Link said. "We will each take responsibility for the consequences."

Winston, somewhat incredulous, asked, "Are you kidding me?"

"Of course not. You can prepare as many people as you want. I'll use you as stepping stones. I just realized I'm still lacking a title." Link looked up at the sky. "This is a good opportunity. Stepping on you to get to the top will be my battle for fame."

"..." Winston felt the person in front of him was a madman. "Do you know what you're saying?"

"What's the difference?" Link retorted. "I already have a bounty on my head, though it's only 300,000 US dollars. But the trouble will keep coming. Since we can't solve the trouble, why not deal with the people who create it? Isn't that a better approach?"

"Thanks for the cigar!" Link stood up, took the cigar out of his mouth, and then pulled two gold coins from his suit pocket. "Clink~"

It was like a tip: "Remember to prepare plenty of people. I'll arrive at midnight sharp. If there aren't enough people, I'll be very disappointed."

After saying that, Link walked away.

Charon watched Link's retreating figure, then turned and asked, "Sir, what do we do now?"
