Chapter 67 Heroic Acts
Chapter 67 Heroic Acts
After eating the second meat bun, Li Xiufang refused to eat a third one. She quickly said goodbye to Tang Huaiyi and Li Xiujuan and left.
Tang Huaiyi and Li Xiujuan didn't waste any time and headed back to the school.
I just ate lunch not long ago, so I'm not hungry yet. I haven't eaten the remaining two steamed buns.
"Dinner's going to be a feast tonight. There are boiled duck eggs from Sister Xiufang, as well as steamed buns and cornbread. We definitely won't be able to finish them all," Tang Huaiyi said to Li Xiujuan with a smile.
"You're a man, you have a big appetite," Li Xiujuan said. "You can have the steamed buns and duck eggs."
"What about my cornbread?" Tang Huaiyi asked with a smile.
"You're the one who eats the cornbread too..."
Before Li Xiujuan could finish speaking, Tang Huaiyi tapped her on the head: "I still can't listen to you, or you'll stuff me to death."
"I have to serve dinner too."
"Oh." Li Xiujuan lowered her head, feeling as sweet as if she had eaten a sweet bean.
She knew that Tang Huaiyi was about to treat her well again.
The two returned to Class 1 of Senior Three. The classroom was completely silent, everyone seemed to be studying with their heads down, and the atmosphere was exceptionally dull.
Tang Huaiyi looked at the class monitor, Guan Xiaolin, with some confusion.
Guan Xiaolin made eye contact with him, then stood up and gestured for Tang Huaiyi to come outside and talk to her.
Tang Huaiyi nodded, handed the boiled duck eggs and steamed buns to Li Xiujuan, and went outside the classroom with Guan Xiaolin.
"Where's your brainless friend?"
Guan Xiaolin, who had been feeling a bit down, almost burst out laughing when she heard this: "Why are you so petty? Wang Man was just concerned about me, that's why she misunderstood you. She didn't have any bad intentions. She even said when she went back to her class that you don't seem like such a bad person."
"I was a perfectly good person, and now I've become not so bad. Should I thank her for gossiping and judging me?" Tang Huaiyi said with a smile.
Guan Xiaolin was speechless for a moment after hearing this: it was probably impossible to get Wang Man to completely admit her mistakes...
Well, Tang Huaiyi didn't go too far; he was just joking. He's not like Zhao Weimin or He Genbao, those stubborn people who won't listen to advice.
Guan Xiaolin couldn't help but sigh again when she thought of the two of them.
"Let's not talk about that now, Tang Huaiyi, something happened just now."
"What happened?"
"The two guys who often play basketball with Zhao Weimin beat up He Genbao, and now He Genbao's face is all swollen up," Guan Xiaolin said. "I went to find Zhao Weimin, but he refused to admit it, saying that he didn't instigate it, and that his friend came to help him get revenge after hearing about his past."
"His friend stood up for him, so he has to stand up for his friend too; he can't let his friend be punished."
"This has suddenly become a real problem. I tried to intervene beforehand, but I couldn't control it; now they've all started fighting, and there's not much I can do..."
Tang Huaiyi chuckled and said, "Why would you need to come up with any solutions? Isn't He Genbao good at tattling to teachers? This time he got beaten up, and his face is all swollen, shouldn't he hurry up and tattle on him?"
Guan Xiaolin frowned slightly, her youthful face filled with confusion: "This time, the strange thing is this."
"Zhao Weimin refused to admit it, so I thought I would have his two henchmen trained and prepare to take He Genbao to see the teacher. But He Genbao refused to go no matter what, saying that this matter had nothing to do with other people and that he did not need to sue the teacher."
"Tang Huaiyi, tell me, is this related to me? Is He Genbao embarrassed to let me take him to report to the teacher?"
Tang Huaiyi was also quite puzzled after hearing this.
It's strange, how could He Genbao tolerate not filing a complaint?
"It shouldn't have anything to do with you. He Genbao is probably afraid of Zhao Weimin and the others..." Tang Huaiyi said, "That's not necessarily a bad thing."
"He's scared. Zhao Weimin has vented his anger, so he probably won't bother him anymore. That might not be a bad solution."
"This..." Guan Xiaolin found it hard to accept. "Are we just going to let He Genbao be bullied by others?"
"If He Genbao hadn't been so arrogant and made things this way, he wouldn't have gotten beaten up," Tang Huaiyi said. "None of the guys in his dorm wanted to beat him up. I could tell he was under a lot of pressure and it wasn't easy for him. I even advised others not to hold it against him."
"He sued me a second time, and now he's finally been beaten up. What can I do? It's not a bad thing if he learns a lesson and becomes more careful with his words and actions in the future."
Of course, there is another possibility...
An extreme and sensitive person may not be afraid, but rather harboring anger.
Tang Huaiyi said this, but in his heart he was actually thinking that he really needed to pay attention to He Genbao, because he didn't seem like the kind of person who reflected on himself.
Guan Xiaolin was at a loss for what to do when she heard Tang Huaiyi say that.
"I'll see what happens this afternoon... If He Genbao doesn't tell the teacher, then this matter can be left at that. But if he gets bullied again, I'll have to talk to the teacher for him."
After Guan Xiaolin finished speaking, she looked at Tang Huaiyi and said, "Tang Huaiyi, I've noticed that you don't seem to care much about these things at all?"
"Yes, it's enough to care about studies and the people who deserve our care. There's really no point in worrying about conflicts between unimportant people."
Tang Huaiyi returned to the classroom while talking to Guan Xiaolin. On his way back to his seat, he glanced at He Genbao, whose face was indeed swollen and who was keeping his head down without saying a word.
In the afternoon, classes continued.
Teacher Monkey Butt came to class with his face wrapped in gauze. He was probably unable to drink heavily because of his injury, and he didn't look drunk at all. Instead, he seemed much more normal than before.
After the lesson was finished and the teacher had finished reading from the textbook, a student asked curiously, "Teacher Hou, how did you get injured on your face?"
Teacher Monkey Butt cleared his throat: "Haha, that's a long story."
"The night before last, when I was walking home, I encountered a thug with a gleaming knife in his hand. He was about to do something bad to a female student at our school. In the blink of an eye, a surge of righteousness welled up inside me, and I took a step forward and rushed forward..."
"That thug was so vicious, he raised his knife and came right at my face... After a fierce struggle, the thug finally didn't dare to face me..."
As Mr. Hou recounted his story, the students were all astonished. They never expected that Mr. Hou, who was usually so unserious, could do such a heroic deed in a critical moment. They were truly impressed.
Monkey Butt boasted and walked away smugly, and the students couldn't help but start talking to their familiar classmates.
He Genbao, his face swollen, held the book, seemingly lost in thought, like a solitary island in a bustling ocean.
"I never imagined that Teacher Hou was such a courageous and righteous person!"
Song Siyuan said to Tang Huaiyi.
Guan Xiaolin laughed and said, "It seems we all misunderstood Teacher Hou before... Everyone said he was drunk and fell, but who would have thought he was a hero."
Tang Huaiyi smiled and said calmly, "That's something I couldn't have imagined."
"I originally thought he was just bragging when he was drunk, but I didn't expect him to dare to brag even when he's not drunk."
Guan Xiaolin, Song Siyuan, and Li Xiujuan were all stunned for a moment.
"Tang Huaiyi, is this not true?"
Tang Huaiyi nodded: "It shouldn't be true. If it were, wouldn't the school broadcast it over the loudspeaker? Wouldn't they hold a meeting to commend them?"
Song Siyuan grinned, "So he was just bragging! That monkey's ass is shameless!"
"What if they really do get an award in a couple of days?" Guan Xiaolin asked.
"Then I guessed wrong."
Tang Huaiyi did not insist.
If Monkey Butt could really get a school award, then Tang Huaiyi would never have revealed that he kicked him.
