Chapter 56 The Punisher
Chapter 56 The Punisher
Nick Fury knew that Tony Stark had handed over the Iron Monger to them as a way of repaying a favor.
He was naturally also eyeing the Iron Monger, but Link was very important, so he sent Phil Coulson to talk to Link.
"This is the first time I've been to your house since you moved in. These paintings look nice." Coulson arrived, though during the day.
Link laughed and said, "You could have come tonight. Jessica already knows about my job. After all, I was in such a rush that day, and I even carried a big suitcase with me."
"Is there no problem?" Coulson asked.
"Of course, no problem. She's very understanding." Link poured Coulson a glass of bourbon and handed him a cigar.
This stuff doesn't affect the lungs; just tasting it is acceptable to Coulson.
The two then went up to the rooftop to sunbathe, and Coulson said, "Iron Monger, what do you think should be done?"
"You can do whatever you want with this, I don't need it," Link said. "But I'd like to know if you can prepare some equipment for me, since I'll need equipment support if there are any operations in the future."
"My weapons here aren't very comprehensive, so it would be best if they could move with me, making it easier for me to carry out any combat missions."
Coulson nodded and said, "Your marksmanship and throwing knife skills are too precise. This does make it easier for you to exert your combat capabilities. I will coordinate this with the equipment department."
"Since you're not using it, then SHIELD will select someone to use it."
"I think you're quite good. After all, you're often on field missions, and you might need your help in the future," Link said. "Besides, I can tell the director trusts you a lot. This suit will definitely need to be modified to fit the pilot's physique. Is S.H.I.E.L.D. okay with that?"
"Don't worry about that, our technology isn't that simple either," Coulson said confidently. "It's just that we might need to ask Mr. Stark for energy later, and you might need to handle that communication then."
"No problem!" Link raised his glass and readily agreed.
……
Coulson was quick; a week later, he actually delivered a car to Link.
Link finally occupied three of his four parking spaces, as Coulson delivered a special agent vehicle, a Chevrolet Suburban.
This has been modified, with enhanced power and strong bulletproof capabilities. The front four doors and five seats remain largely unchanged, but the rear has been modified into an armory.
There were even several combat suits. Link tried one on, and it seemed to be an improved version of Hawkeye's combat suit.
Coulson gave him a special introduction: "This is made of wear-resistant material, so its protective effect is average. Since you mainly use firearms and throwing knives, there is also a matching tactical vest and holster."
"In addition, there are a few boxes for holding throwing knives. I had the technical department make a few more for you."
Link looked at it and was fairly satisfied. After all, without nanotechnology, even if he obtained vibranium, he wouldn't be able to create a nanosuit.
We can only wait and see. In any case, whether the bullets can hit him depends on whether he is willing to do so.
Life didn't settle down. Wilson Fisk ran into trouble when a guy suddenly appeared in Hell's Kitchen and attacked gang members with military weapons.
This caused Hell's Kitchen's already improved security to vanish again, and the gang members began to live in constant fear. Even with Wilson Fisk suppressing them, the gang members were going crazy at the prospect of being mowed down by machine gun fire at any moment.
"Lin, what do you think of this situation?" Fisk approached Link. "I believe that with your expertise in psychology, you can definitely analyze some things."
"Of course!" Link nodded and said, "This person is clearly seeking revenge. He probably lost important family members or loved ones, which is why he's so extreme."
"Furthermore, the force he used suggests that he was once a soldier, and that someone important to him died at the hands of gang members."
Fisk agreed wholeheartedly, but he was now in a real bind, saying, "I can't hold back anymore. After all, this concerns the life and death of those gangs and has disrupted the environment of Hell's Kitchen."
"I must stop him!"
"But it's not easy to find him now. He doesn't have a specific target; he targets all gang members."
Link thought for a moment and asked, "So what's the FBI's statement?"
"After all, this is not something the NYPD can solve."
"They're investigating too, but haven't found anything," Fisk shook his head. "And they have a lot of ideas, hoping to use this opportunity to get involved in Hell's Kitchen."
"They want to trade something with me."
Link suddenly realized that while most people might not know Wilson Fisk's background, the FBI certainly did.
However, he has now changed his identity and begun to expand his social influence, while his philanthropic work is thriving, which has given Fisk a layer of protection.
He is no longer a simple criminal, and Fisk has already distanced himself from the criminals, using indirect methods to remotely control his power.
However, Fisker must have a great deal of criminal evidence against some people in New York, including evidence of illegal activities by some politicians and wealthy businessmen, as well as a large amount of intelligence about the underworld.
The FBI hopes to gain something from this opportunity; they certainly don't want everything, but controlling Fisk is what they want to achieve.
Link thought for a moment and said, "I'll find someone to think of a way. Wait for my news and try to suppress the gang members as much as possible."
"Alright, I'll try my best. I'll owe you another favor!" Fisk was overjoyed. He hadn't expected Link to have a solution.
However, Link's status is different now. He is a billionaire and a shareholder of Stark Industries, making him much stronger than Link in some aspects.
Link said goodbye to Fisk and then drove straight to Hell's Kitchen. He didn't bother looking for Phil Coulson, because that wasn't difficult.
He could easily find the Punisher; there was no need to guess—it must have been Frank Castle who did it.
Only he could be so crazy, so finding him wouldn't be difficult; it would be too easy for Link.
Listening into Hell's Kitchen, Link quickly learned that Frank Castle was preparing weapons for the next operation.
Link quickly located him, drove up to his vicinity, got out of the car, and walked over.
Frank Castle was on a rooftop, his favorite spot, a place rarely visited by others.
